Summary: Where is version 2?
Review: It ended like a cliff hanger I want to know if there is a version 2. It was a great book but too short. My favorite part was when Stewart said "5 drops" to the gas station man. My 5 year old sister said, "I loved the story Stewart Little and I wish I could have it every day I wish I could read it over and over. I wish I could read it was exciting and fun." I'm a 7 year old boy.

Summary: It was the best book ever read to me or that I ever read.
Review: I was read this book in elementery school. Then when I had my first child I bought it. My oldest three children love it as much as I do. But, when I got divorced, I lost a lot of stuff. Including that book. So, I am getting it again for my youngest. If you have a chance to read this book, Do! It shows that families can be as different as neighbors. And still get through it.

Summary: A Pure Masterpiece
Review: E.B. White's books shaped my childhood and continue to affect me even today. The first book I ever remember reading and re-reading is Charlotte's Web, but Stuart Little is close behind. I first read Stuart when I was 7 or 8 and I distinctly remember exactly where I was and how I felt as though it were yesterday. Any child (or adult) who has ever felt a little bit different from their peers will identify with White's characters...and draw strength from them. His books convey tremendously powerful messages in simple, touching prose: it's okay to be different, and love and friendship are more important than anything in the world. If all children learned these lessons early in life, the world would be a better place. Thanks to Mr. White for teaching them to me, over and over again!

Summary: A mouse born by humans.
Review: This is a good story. I like the different chapters and the different adventures Stuart is always on.

My favorite chapter is when Stuart runs away from home to find his friend, the bird Margalo. He always does stuff for people. I like how he is always kind.

The book is funny and I like it and so does my family.

Summary: All-time classic children's book
Review: I can't recall how old I was when I first read this beautiful book. Nine, perhaps, or maybe ten? I am 40 now, thinking back wistfully to what it was like to encounter such a moving tale as a young child. The illustrations -- so perfectly representative of the text -- are still fixed in my mind. I had a sailboat of my own, and so identifed with Stuart's Central park boating adventure. I had never connected with anything else in book form the way I connected with Stuart Little, and when I was done, I was amazed that a book could affect me the way it did. Only a child can enter so completely into Stuart's miniaturized world.

Sadly, I know I can't read this story again with anywhere near the same enjoyment precisely because it is a children's book. Great non-children's works, like the Odyssey or Anna Karenina, can of course be appreciated ever more as one grows older, but the joy one experiences as a child encountering a character like Stuart Little vanishes forever as one passes into adolesence and then adulthood, and can never be relived.

This is one of the greatest children's books ever written -- encourage your children to read it

Summary: My favorite children's book, period!
Review: The only word for this book is "enchanting." You and your children can get lost in the wonderous world of Stuart Little and his adventures... but it's more than that. The use of language is beautiful beyond words. Even if you don't have kids, you might just want to read it. Stuart's day as a substitute teacher is so classic, if you read it, you'll never forget it. No matter how old your kids are, read this to them! Don't forget to stop and enjoy the timeless Garth Williams illustrations. I think this book would be on my own personal "desert-island list"

Summary: Not just for children
Review: My daughter started reading this book as she was sitting next to me on the couch. I looked over her shoulder and started reading. This book is GREAT!!! We decided to read it out loud as a family because we liked it so much

Summary: Stuart is a real person in a family but he is a mouse!
Review: This book is very funny and full of adventures for little Stuart. Stuart is a mouse born in a regular family and he has many adventures as he tries to live the life of a regular boy! He can talk to people and is a regular family member but HE IS A MOUSE! It is a very funnny but also a very exciting story. A MUST READ for ages 7 and up. I am a 10 year old boy and I loved it!

Summary: A classic, entertaining story that delights in the absurd
Review: E.B. White takes his first stab at writing children's books, and Stuart Little was such a success that 55 years after publication, his book was still popular enough to merit a dreadful Hollywood film adaptation.

Stuart Little is the story of a mouse born to human parents, who eventually runs away from home and relies on his indomitable pluck to carry him on a journey to find Margalo, a bird who has mysteriously disappeared after a short layover in the Little home. Along the way, Stuart has adventures aplenty, including a one-day stint as a substitute teacher, and a toy sailboat race.

Generally, children's authors who write fantasy either bring a spot of magic into the real world, said magic being a source of amazement for all who experience it, or they create an entirely fantastic world in which magic (or futuristic or spiritual) things happen. White has taken the road less travelled, in that he has brought fantastic elements into the real world that, absurdly, everyone takes in stride.

This approach leads to some great scenes in which the everyday world incorporates a mouse who can talk and drive, a model car that runs on gasoline and can turn invisible at the touch of a button, and a talking bird can wander in from the skies. People are interested to see these things, but treat them as the same type of curiosity as an exotic animal or unusual hat.

The book is also suffused with well-done humor, often based on engaging wordplay or clever logic. The jokes range from the broadest to the most subtle, ensuring that the book will appeal to you whether you are hearing it read aloud, reading it yourself, or reading it to a youngster.

The scene in which Stuart teaches a classroom of children is particularly funny, with Stuart turning the lesson into a spirited banter that involves testing out how life out to be.

This novel lacks the poignant emotional appeal of Charlotte's Web, but the willingness to flaunt the rules of children's books nearly makes up for this. Children will love the strong visual images that they take from the book (helped along by the illustrations which adorn nearly every page), and adults will come to appreciate the audaciousness of Stuart, who is always ready to jump into a daunting situation with only his wits about him.

This is definitely a classic, and should be on every child's bookshelf.
