Summary: Spirituality without the guilt.
Review: Having been a student and teacher of "A Course In Miracles" for over a decade, I can say that Gary Zukav has had a winner on his hands here for about the same amount of time. Even though this is not "A Course" publication, spiritual truths are spiritual truths....all roads lead to where one is in their lives.

Unfortunately, when it comes to books that deal with spirituality, the theme is that people have gone the wrong direction their entire lives (Marianne Williamson's snobbish approach is a perfect example). Deepak Chopra has the concepts right, but delivers those concepts in a very sterile and almost scientific manner. Gary Zukav, on the other hand, brings the reader (or listener to the audio version) into an area of being loved and a non-judgemental space. Reading his words are like sitting at the knee of your grandpa and hearing wonderful stories on how life works.

If you have ever wanted to explore the concepts of karma, self-love, self-knowledge and realizing you are the creator of your reality, this is the book. It's not the answer, but it sure as hell will get you on the right track!

Summary: connection
Review: I am not a scholar by any stretch of the imagination. However, I am in the process of exploring myself..this life...the alternatives to this life and religion in order to broaden my mind. I do not believe the Gary Zukav is leading me to believe that he invented these theories on his own. I believe this book is merely giving a new, "layman's" angle on ancient philosophies and pretentious explanations. Some people do not learn as easily as others using "traditional methods" or "standard theorums" and they feel left out and unable to access this type of information. This book has been soothing and enlightening because I could grasp his suggestions by the words he chose and by the manner in which he presented them. Honestly, there are at least two sides to every story and it was nice to see the story from someone else's eyes for a change...someone a little more on my level.

Summary: Standard HinduZen book from Northern California
Review: Pretty much a let down, I must say. If I had been looking for a book on Hunduism, I could have found much better than this. For some reason the author just wails away at the reader, chapter after chapter, leaving little time to absorb any of His concepts.

Also, Gary, enough with the silly Capitalizations, OK? It's Annoying after a While, not to mention Pretentious....

Summary: A big disappointment
Review: What a big disappointment! Oprah raves about this man's writings but Seat of The Soul is New Age drivel about reincarnation. Don't give him your hard earned money.

Summary: Seat of the Soul - Zukav at his Best !
Review: I read Zukav's "Dancing with Lu Masters" and thought that it was the most wonderful book that relates Physics to the big questions about life, why we are here, who are we, what is reality, what is a soul, questions that make you forget the petty problems of life that frustrate us. It was brilliant and simple.

Here in Seat of the Soul, Gary Zukav has head-on adressed the question around spirituality, our soul, forces of light and forces of negativity that exist within each of us. His thoughts give you a glimpse into how we can responsibly exercise free will, and evolve towards Love & Light.

Summary: A Kindred Soul Teacher and Traveller!
Review: As a psychotherapist, author and 25- year seminar trainer on life strategies, I have often quoted Gary Zukov's ideas in my classes and to my clients. I first read Seat of the Soul when it was published back in 1989 and was amazed to find that our beliefs were similar. He is right when he says that we are a soul living in a body. That we need to learn to trust the guidance that is out there. We would have authentic empowerment if we lived by our soul's journey instead of limiting our lives by our narrow, fearful beliefs. I agree with Gary when he says we need to unblock our emotions so we can feel and see what is there for guidance. I would like to add that we need to honor our life, the life of another, and the wonders of the universe, and to live daily with faith that everything good and bad is a gift, awareness of what we are feeling and doing, and on purpose.

Summary: Rereading essential to grasp some of Zukav's thoughts.
Review: I have just finished reading "Seat of the Soul" or should I say I read it at least twice to finish it. I found myself reading some passages over and over again to grasp some of Zukav's insights. In reading the passages I needed to ask myself what is the author trying to tell us as he also repeated himself for emphasis on numerous occasions. I think the author should be commended for his attempt at putting together a "manual" on human spirituality but he does broaden the field to the animal soul, reincarnation, extra terrestrial life and I believe his creativity places the reader in some difficulty to comprehend the whole of the work. I expected more so I'm a little disappointed.

Summary: Misses the mark most of the time
Review: I had high hopes for some enlightenment when I first picked up this book. I soon realized it was too far "out there" for me. What struck me most often while reading was how generic and almost wishy-washy it seemed. I did enjoy portions of the book (mostly the aspects that relate to Mr. Zukav's knowledge of physics), but much of the time I found these were things that were more common sense than great revelation.

This book is definately too "new age religion" for my liking.

Summary: Inspiring
Review: This book truly inspires me. I have picked it up several times now, and every time I've read different things that influence my life in a profound way. One of the things that opened my eyes that Mr. Zukav writes is: "When perception of the physical world is limited to the five-sensory modality, the basis of life in the physical arena becomes fear. Power to control the environment, and those within it appears to be essential."

Control has been one of my 'issues' for a long time. And indeed, now I've become more in tune with my intuition and other 'sensors', my life has become some much richer.

I embrace the concept of multi-sensory perception. I've discovered that I know so much more than logically I should be able to know. I've recently met this wonderful guy; we've 'known' each other for only 2 weeks now. But I know him and about him for what seems forever. We've even started to communicate 'telepathically'. It's so wonderful. And this has all happened since I've become aware of the possibilities of multi-sensory perception.

Mr. Zukav has helped me a lot having a fuller and richer life.

Other people who have helped me trust my intuition are Shya & Ariel Kane. They have written a book about their technique Instantaneous Transformation‚. The book is called "Working on yourself doesn't work" and I can very much recommend this book to anyone interested in the topics mentioned above. I've also bought the tapes (Magical Relationships is one of them) and it has truly redefined my life. Everything has become so much easier and so much fun. If you're looking for easy & simple enlightenment you must read this book.

Summary: Dificult read, few good ideas
Review: I just finished Seat of the Soul and Soul Stories. While Seat of the Soul is the more difficult read, I found few good ideas and lots of "this is the way it is" righteousness. He lumps all animals into groups of souls, a dolphin soul, a dog soul. Where does he get this insight and why does he force himself to deal with the evolution of animal to human souls to eternal souls with such convoluted reasoning. I found myself reading and rereading passages just to try to understand his use of intention and personality and temptation. I got the same message repeatedly, and I found myself saying OK where is the depth of feeling and thought to justify all this obtuseness. Still I give it 4 stars for the attempt to get people to think of the consequences of their actions. But there are better books out there.
