Summary: A Retailing Bible For Just Seven Bucks
Review: Think about it. A small time variety store owner out of Bentonville Arkansas creates the most powerful retailing jaggernaut of all time....right in the faces of Sears, K-Mart and JC Penny. If you are in any kind of a business with customers, you will benefit from this book, and in experiencing the laser like focus Sam had on delivering the absolute best in his stores. Walton is to retailing what Jordon was to basketball, an absolute master of his art. I read this book several years ago, and as a retailer, I still refer to it---as much for the specific business tactics as to remind myself how Sam thought about things, and how he managed his people. An absolute classic.

Summary: From Zero to One Of The Biggest in America
Review: Think about this. This guy starts from zero, loses his first store to the landlord - gets kicked out, he is in some small state (that is not an insult) but starts a new store up the road and then keeps on going right up to one of the biggest retail chains in America - all in one generation.

He drives a pickup truck, lives in a modest house, and makes all of his family members billionaires when he dies. And then the business still continues to grow after he dies. This is truly an amazing free enterprise story. He liked to be thought of as a country boy that went hunting with his dogs, but he was a business retail genius.

His secret is simple (other than he was an excellent leader and manager) sell for the lowest price and sell what people want to buy. He could figure out that formula and make it work.

Excellent book for business owners - I like how he kept costs down even to the point of sleeping in new stores during setups and having his own trucks and distribution centers.

Summary: Great retail trade book
Review: This book is especially fascinating because you read about where many of the ideas and principles of all of the major retailers came from. i.e. 10 foot rule, satisfaction guaranteed, everyday low prices, we buy big, you save big etc...

Summary: Real American Story
Review: This book is not only the history of one of the best American enterprises ever, but also a word for the future. Those who are looking for some good advices how to sell this or that would be disappointed, but those who are looking for inspiration in their business or life might find it very fulfilling. There is no recipe for a good business in the book, but among the rules, that Sam Walton formulates at the end the most important, he says, is "Break all rules!". This book is a must read for every businessman.

Summary: Sam Walton the Tyrant, Is More Like It.
Review: This book is so bad, it's almost not even worth writing about. The book proports to shine some sunny light on the man solely responisble for making minimum wage and "full time" work (often defined as 20-30 hours) popular in keeping lower-class America in its place. Look no further for an account of the man focused on plumbing the depths of the dark heart of corporate greed. You'd be better off reading Barbara Ehrenreich's book, Nickel and Dimed.

Summary: Sam Walton Made in America.
Review: This is a great book. I learned a lot form it. We stand on the shoulders of giants. Sam Walton was a giant. Sam said he has been in more K-Marts than anyone. He learned how others are doing things. Which group is now bankrupt? You can learn from him. Read this book and then resell it on Amazon. ...
