Rating: Summary: I liked it. Review: I rarely stray from reading historical fiction, I prefer novels like "The Triumph and the Glory" or Stephen King stuff, but after reading "The Testament", and now "The Street Lawyer" I'm beginning to see rather quickly what all the fuss has been about concerning John Grisham. He is a great writer.
Rating: Summary: Fast Reading very enjoyable - made you think twice Review: How many of us give time to help out in Soup Kitchens and support homeless shelters. This was a real eye opener and brought a lump to my throat as I read. Very quick reading, read it on a flight from the East Coast to the West Coast and was saddened to have finished so soon.
Rating: Summary: He's the best Review: exhilarating stuff ! Gripping from beginning to ending. It left me breathless ! I just can't find any words for it!
Rating: Summary: Extremely Heart-Felt and Warm Review: This book by Grisham is a wonderful book that makes you realize how blessed you really are. The hero of the story, Michael and Green, well there needs to be more of them in this cruel world. Totally entertaining with a realistic ending.
Rating: Summary: Well, GREAT START and Disappointing ENDING Review: I have just finished reading this book. Wow, this was so GOOD. But still I cannot give five stars. Because I think five star book deserves everlasting support from the readers. And I don't think if this book can be the best book of 1990's. But this book surely worth four stars. I read some reviews and all said that the beginning was so good. I agree to it. Until page 250 it was incredible. I admire John Grisham! However I slowed down after page 250. But still it was readible. It was still better than other books. I only think that Grisham could have made the ending better. You would like this.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic and gripping Review: Great Law story. It makes you think twice of hot shot big money lawyers, and makes you come back to reality.
Rating: Summary: GOOD Review: I agreed with others that this book certainly lacks the actions and excitement found in The Firm etc. But, in another sense, I think it's a good sign because Grisham is writing things in a more realistic way. The Firm might be great in its fast-paceness, but when you consider the truthfulness and social awareness as the issue, The Street Lawyer, of course is much more contributory. Actually, one must have realised that John Grisham has tried his way in similar manner e.g. The Chamber or The Rainmaker. Nonetheless, his works always evoke great expectation from the readers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: The Rainmaker.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must for any Grisham fan. Review: My husband and I had to travel quite extensively this month, and to keep us both awake, we bought The Street Lawyer. After 5 cds, I was looking for the 6th. We just didn't want it to end. The storyline is about a young and well to do lawyer who after undergoing a hostage situation with a homeless person decides to leave his big bucks firm and work as a counselor/lawyer for the homeless. The book asks you to stop and question what your responsibility is to the world and those less fortunate. Some of the issues were touchy for me, but overall, I really enjoyed the book. In addition, the narration is excellent and brings so much life into the characters. It's fun just to hear them all speak and know that it's coming from one mind and one mouth!
Rating: Summary: Enthralling. Couldn't put it down! Review: This is my first John Grisham book and it certainly won't be my last. Mr. Grisham creates characters that you really care about.I especially liked the character of Mordechai Green and I would very much like to see him appear in another book, but unlike some others I don't want to see this book made into a movie. I really don't want to see what Hollywood would do to this wonderful story.
Rating: Summary: Not worth my time Review: Please Mr. Grisham, get back on track and write more books like The Firm. I could not finish reading The Street Lawyer and for me thats bad. It gives a lot of details on homeless people and how they live, which the all of society needs to know, but the story is very boring and drags on.It has an interesting main man that goes nowhere.
