Summary: A good lesson in morals
Review: I read John Grisham’s The Street Lawyer for an outside reading book in my English class. I instantly connected with its main characters “culture shock” as one might call it to the seemly invisible homeless society, which we upper and middle class people walk over every day. Reading this book brings back my memory to last March when on a church missions trip to a Boston homeless shelter my I eyes were first opened to the true life and struggles of the homeless. I can remember looking at the people who stood in line waiting for the shelter to open, some of them were the usual suspects but many of them looked just like me.
I read some other reviews of this book here at amazon.com and for the most part I agreed with them that this is a fun, simple and easy book to read. I thought the story for the most part was fairly realistic and the plot was well thought out, over all a great book. Although it kind of made me sad that Mister had to lose his head before Michael took the time to figure out the problem with today’s society.
One thing which I came across while reading some of the other reviews which kind of ... me off was that some people called the book “a simple platform for him [John Grisham] to voice his liberal political viewpoints.” This made me really mad that when people read this book that’s all they think about. They when farther to say, “As a Republican, I disagree with the majority of his views and the views of his main character in this book.” I just wish that people would just SHUT UP, stop whining about political view points and read the book for what its really worth.

Summary: Giving back to society........
Review: The book street lawyer to me was very interesting. I liked the way john grisham took the world of corporate lawyers and turned it into something else. He shoes how in need of protection the needy people of the world are by showing us the world of street law. The street lawyer tells a good tale of a man who goes beyond the money and fame, and look into his heart to find his tru mission in the world of law.

Summary: Amazing truth
Review: Maybe this book need a little more punch in the story, but it takes 5 stars from me because everything is absolutely true and maybe all of us are used to see the homeless people in the streets and do nothing about them, I'm sure we can not do much, but a little bit from each of us could help a lot of people, I strongly recommend this book to change your point of view of this kind of people.

Summary: Good book if you can look past the liberal politics
Review: I understand those who criticize Mr. Grisham's liberal rants in this book. More than any of his books, this one can be viewed as a simple platform for him to voice his liberal political viewpoints. As a Republican, I disagree with the majority of his views and the views of his main character in this book (which does not in any way make me less than compassionate for the plight of homeless people, I just disagree about the best way to help them - I'd rather teach them to fish than simply feed them a fish). However, having said that, let me say that the reason I read John Grisham is due to the fact that his stories are both fun and easy to read. As a person who grew up reading primarily fantasy/science fiction, I was romanced away to other types of books by 3 authors. Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, and John Grisham. Of these 3, Mr. Grisham is perhaps my favorite because his stories are always fast-paced, very interesting (whether you're a fan of the courtroom drama or not), and always make for light reading when on an airplane, sitting on the beach, etc.In this book, I'll admit that what the other reviewers say is true. The story is a bit thin, and the plot seems a bit contrived. A homeless man holds a law firm hostage, and the main character (being one of those lawyers) finds out that the homeless man had a legitimate complaint with his law firm, since the firm had evicted him from his housing illegally. True to John Grisham novels, the big corporation is the bad guy and is involved in illegal doings to get what they want. This time, the homeless population is the victim and it's John Grisham to the rescue. While Mr. Grisham takes time to voice his liberal viewpoints through the eyes and voices of his characters, he doesn't forget one very important thing. And that is to make his novels interesting. Regardless of his political views, his stories are compelling. I honestly believe if John Grisham wanted to write a novel about a group of aging women getting together each week to make quilts, he could do it in a compelling manner. The bottom line is that if you can't enjoy reading this book without looking past his liberal views, then it's probably not the book for you. But if you can, as I did, ignore the liberal speeches in this book, I think you'll find it a fun, exciting read.

Summary: A Grisham Reader (Trying to Read and Review All)
Review: As my second JG book, I was looking forward to reading this. It is about a man named Michael Brock who works for one of the largest law firms in the US. He has it all. In a few years, he is expected to be a partner. But, in a days time, it ends with a street man who takes 8 or 9 lawyers hostage. This makes Michael re-evaluate his life and decides he wants to become a "street lawyer" and defend such people, basically out of sympathy. Sounds good so far, 'eh? Well, the story and "goings on" are not bad, but the ending is so dissapointing. Makes this a horrible book. I felt like the man stole hours out of my life. Of course, I am still a fan and do plan on reading the rest, but The Street Laywer was an upset.

Summary: Fantastic Read!
Review: I have officially declared myself a John Grisham fan. The first novel of his that I read was the Chamber. A story with a heart! Then came The Street Lawyer. I would not hesitate to recommend Grisham's work to anybody that is looking for a good read that has both quality and substance. The Street Lawyer storyline is realistic,moral,funny,touching and highly relatable---no preaching at all!
I would write a long review but I am tied up with The Rainmaker...another Grisham novel.

Summary: Standard Grisham Fare
Review: This is pretty typical Grisham - Page turning, highly readable, somewhat realistic. It might have a little more of a moral tone to it than his previous work does, and some people may not like the book because of its preaching message. The characters are not really well developed, there is an unnecessary murder, and too much of a stretch to make the law firm into the bad guys. It really over glorifies the homeless as well. So, if you can stomach that (or are looking for it) this is a good book - but if you don't want to be preached to, pick up something else.

Review: Not his best book definately.Even the jokes arent that funny sometimes. It is an okay reading, a little slow at time. Give it a go anyway. If homeless issue interest you, then you might like this book.

Review: well... since everyone knows basically what Im gonna say I'll just say it.
I thought this was another great book by John Grisham, slightly different from what I'm used to but that didnt mean it wasn't worth the read.

Summary:
This book is about this guy that works in this big DC law firm and one day he gets taken hostage by this homeless guy. The homeless guy gets shot by the police and he gets freed but this experence changes his life. He wants to find out about this guy so he goes to the homeless shelters and looks up stuff about him. When he's at the homeless shelters he meets htis family and the next day the family dies from carbon monoxide poisning because they were sleeping in there car with it running and the snow cloges up the exost so it kills them in there sleep. He finds out that his law firm (...) them over in this deal by kicking them out of the place that they lived and so he decides to sue his law firm that (...)over the homeless family and get money for the homeless people. All this time he stole a file from his law firm to find out stuff about the case and so now read the book to find out the rest.
Personal Comentary: I thought this book was good. The main Charicter ,Michal, changes his ammount of carring for the homeless in the book At the beginning of the book he thought they all smelled, "I didnt see him. I smelt him though-the pungent odor of smoke and cheap wine." pg 9 By the end of the book he started to care about them and wanted to help them. "How about the paper. I'll read about the mayor first i know how you like city politics. pg 302
I liked to see the change in the charicter. That is what i think makes it a good book.
Critics view:
I really enjoyed this book. I like lawyer books. This book might not be for everyone but it was for me. Some reasons you might not like this book is that it was kind of long. If you like law books you shouyld like this book.
