Review: Can you imagine being stuck on a cay, alone, with only a black man to keep you company. One moment, you were with your mother ona ship trying to get off an island to get to the United States. The next moment, you are shipwrecked, stuck on an island. In addition, the ship was hit by a torpedo leaving Philip on a raft with a black man named Timothy. The reat of the story is how they live on the island with a surprise ending that you will only figure out if you read the book.

Summary: Ms. Clark's Class Review
Review: The Cay was a very good book but my class found it confusing at times. The accent of Timothy made it difficult for the kids to understand the conversations between Timothy and Phillip. The kids also found it hard to visualize at times because of the way the story was told. The kids liked the way Phillip overcame his racist beliefs to accept Timothy as a friend. The kids also liked the way Timothy was willing to sacrafice his life to save Phillip. The ways Phillip struggled with his blindness to survive on the cay was inspirational and provided the kids with a real sense of overcoming obstacles in life to have success.

This is a great book to read with a class. My 6th grade class read it and for the most part enjoyed the novel. It was able to spawn some great discussions. It was a great novel to teach at the beginning of the year.

Summary: The Cay
Review: I thought The Cay was a book of courage and trust. I think Timothy and Phillip were very brave though there were many dangers on th island. If I was in Phillip's place, I wouldn't last very long.

Summary: The Cay
Review: I read "The Cay" for a school summer project. I liked this book very much because it is a story of true courage and trust. I think that both Timothy and Phillip were brave and I don't know what I would have done if I was in either of their situations.
