Summary: Knowing is Understanding
Review: I read this book in record time. In defense of this author's style i would say, that in order to convey the central message it was necessary to cut to the chase and delete the more detailed aspects that generally go into a book of fiction. The message was the purpose of the book and it came through loud and clear for those of us who have glimpsed a little of what the author was writing about. I believe that he was attempting to "make it real".

Summary: My eyes have been shut all this time
Review: I found this book to be completely riveting and read it cover to cover in just two sittings. James Redfield's use of the journey through Peru made the book readable on a surface level but left ou in no doubt about what you were supposed to take from it. i knew it must be a story but wanted it to be real, i felt that the insights being given were just like dipping your toe in the water of the knowledge and yearn to know more - to read the prophecies for myself!! If you are openminded and looking for a purpose in life you could do worse than start with this book. the only problem is you won't want to stop searching and it's not easy to see which direction to take next without checking out really way out ideas.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Spiritually rewarding
Review: I have NEVER read such a spiritually rewarding book. James Redfield is not the greatest author but he certainly gets his point across. The steps explained in this book are wonderful ideas that I now consider daily.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not Great, but Not Bad Either.
Review: I saw the poor reviews, but I thought the book was okay, mildly entertaining: certainly not deserving the initial attention it got several years ago. Two books that were far more interesting with similiar new age themes were: The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho; and LUMINOUS by Peter Quest. Both had better prose and the characters in LUMINOUS seemed very real, plus great action scenes.

Summary: Great Book
Review: Being open minded, I got the message. This book is helpful amongst those who are looking to expand spirtitualy. Also in the same category are "Conversations with God"..."The Third Time Is Now"

Summary: Is there a MINUS 5 star rating?
Review: So glad I never spent real money on this waste of time. Kept waiting for something profound to happen. Redfield should invest in a thesaurus to at least make the writing palatable. The plot was ludicrous, the "philosophy" puerile. Save us from these "best sellers". The publisher should also be ashamed of foisting this crap on the reading public.

Summary: Stupid, stinky, ridiculous and poorly written.
Review: What a piece of dog doo. It is absolutely beyond me why this book is so popular. Who is the main character? Wouldn't it help to have a name for the narrator of the story, James? This book would be flunked by any English teacher in any college in the country. The stiff and lifeless dialogue will put anyone to sleep - as it did me, night after night. In fact, the piece of garbage is still on by bedside table. I'm just waiting for the next power outage so I can use it for kindling.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This book enhances YOUR spirituality
Review: Although Redfield's writing style and language usage is not very eloquent, the ideas in this novel are helpful if you are looking to build, or perhaps rebuild your spirituality. Most of what we consider to be "problems" in our daily lives are actually petty misunderstandings. Or, as Redfield states, we are simply thriving on the fact that our life is JUST A ROUTINE...Yet, if we attempt to look beyond what we are faced with in life, we will begin to realize that there is a greater meaning and purpose to our existence on this earth...

Even though this book enhanced my spirituality as a Christian, it left me with several UNASWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT LIFE! But, I would imagine that this is typical, and even natural. It would be ignorant for us to expect Redfield to provide us with an easy solution to life's problems. Let's face it...Redfield can merely introduce some ideas about spirituality, but each of us must, in some way, learn how we can apply his ideas to our own lives as an individual. THIS NOVEL WILL NOT ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS about spirituality...But, Redfield does NOT have all of the answers. Neither does anyone else for that matter! The only way to find these answers is to look to God. This book may lead you there...

Summary: an adventure?
Review: To say the Celestine Prophecy's insights are borrowed ideas is an understatement. The insights are nominally intriguing, considering the depths which the author seeks to plumb, but ultimately, it's a boring read. The cheesy, contrived nature of the story line dosn't help much either. If you want to find transcendance, perhaps try a book that isn't such a blatant attempt at spiritually. Usually the best of the sort are ones with a less conscious, unmitigated stab at profundity.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This book offers guidance to those that seek it.
Review: There are so many people all over the world looking for some kind of answer as to why they are the way they are. James Redfield doesn't offer an answer, but he does give some guidelines to help those that are struggling through life. It is important to remember that this book is fiction. The story is not a true one, but the insights discussed offer the reader an alternative way of looking at the world around us. Those that did not like the book may have been comfortable with their lives already. For those of you struggling and in need of guidance, this book is an excellent start.
