Summary: Stimulating Ideas. Poorly Written
Review: I loved some of the ideas in the book. This book is useful for people that are really looking for the truth and are interested in self-discovery. It is not written very well though - which makes it harder... For those that are of a critical nature...this book would not be for them...Some of the principles and insights are really revealing and useful though...

Another book that I just discovered that I love and made a gigantic difference in my life is: "Working On Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book ABout Instantaneous Transformation". It is the first book by two pioneers in Self-Realization and Personal Growth, Ariel and Shya Kane. Beautifully written and also has some very powerful principles for how to change your approach to living. Also not a book for sceptics who can find fault with everything...

Summary: Wonderful series of books!
Review: I have read most of the Celestine Prophecy series. They are easy to read and teach great lessons about life. I very highly recommend them.

Summary: Simplicity
Review: I find the 'prophecies' as very basic psychology (101) lessons that could be summarized onto a 3 inch by 5 inch card. Most of the book is 'fat' that needs to be trimmed. It is highly overdramatized by describing the trip to Peru to find these 'sacred prophecies'. I read the book because of the hype surrounding it. I was dissapointed. I pulled myself through it thinking that the next 'prophecy' may be something that I have not learned. But when I reached the final prophecy I stopped reading it. There was nothing in the final pages that could change my opinion... This book is simplicity with an extra long story.

Summary: We are Evolving - Our Time is Now
Review: A friend of mine recommended this book to me two years ago. She said it sounded very much like my beliefs and me. She wanted me to read this because she had seen that I have been going through a very deep dark valley and wanted me back out in the light. In my own arrogance and ignorance I said that I was not going to support some one selling philosophy for gain. These charlatans had nothing that I could gain from their writings. Two horribly long years past since she asked me to read the book. Once again she and I were talking and my situation came up and she recommended the book. At this point I have lost some of my arrogant bitter edge and I acquiesced and ordered the book. The book was delivered and I opened the box the next night and started glancing through it. I have had these identical ideas floating around with me all of my life. This book can bring focus to the blurred images. It is not for everyone. Only those ready to move from milk to meat so to speak. It is for those ready to evolve. Five and a half hours after opening the book for the first time I was in a neighboring city handing the book to a friend at 2:00 am that started coming to mind as I read the book. Some have been calling this a religion. It is not. It is an expansion of awareness that we are only parts of a greater whole. Read the book, if you are ready you will understand. Thank you for your work Mr. Redfield

Summary: Uplifting insights in a simple story
Review: I enjoyed the bulk of this book and really felt as though I had benefitted from reading it. The last couple of insights seemed a little bizarre to the point of being cultish however on the whole the book has a very positive message.

Other reviews have attacked the simplicity of the writing and the storyline however that is missing the point that the purpose of the story was simply to get the "insights" accross.

Overall very good. Enjoyed it.

Summary: Sell spirituality someplace else.
Review: In my own less than humble opinion, this book was geared exclusively toward the least common denominator... a kind of "Spirituality for dummies." It was nothing more than a poorly written, fantastical, shiny happy people reader that has probably only done well by James and a few of the close friends he gets brandy for. I mean, come on... six million copies sold ins't a coincidence. It says only one thing: the author has sold himself out to the almighty dollar. I wonder what his marginal revenue is on each subsequent sequel. Open your eyes people, not this book.

Summary: a mystic, spine-tingling story that keeps you reading
Review: I loved this book. Not because I took everything in the book literally, but because it communicated a sense of connectedness with the spirits of the earth. It helps one to see that everything has an important place in the world and that people need to be aware of this fact in order to be complete. It's an easy read that makes you think and makes you want to keep reading.

Summary: Excellent book written on a universal level
Review: Many of the complaints about this book that I have seen refer to the simplified writing style. What those folks don't seem to realize is that this book was not written for the elite--Redfield wrote it on a universal level so that all age groups and people of many education levels could understand the beautiful and important messages. There are many adults who have a difficult time reading the harder material who could benefit from the insights. As for those who complain about the "obviousness" of the insights--most truths are obvious, but, as the saying goes, many people cannot see the forest for the trees. We all need to be reminded of the "obvious" things pointed out by Redfield. I think we would all do well to examine ourselves and the way we treat others! This book is a real eye-opener, and it will be at the top of my holiday shopping list--at least 5 copies that I know of will be distributed to friends and family!

Summary: Poor text even for a current author
Review: I had never been tempted to burn a book prior to finishing this piece. With the first nine insights more aptly termed "obviousnesses", Redfield (who wishes for you to believe he has been through these experiences, even though the lack of any emotion in the writing belies this) procedes to liken himself to Christ. This is soul-less, self-important tripe that could only appeal to a baby boomer.

Summary: I learned so much!
Review: This book has the ability to change the way you see the world as long as you give it a chance.
