Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: The insights contained in this book are simple and profound. I have taken time to seriously consider each and every one of them. I understand the story is a parable, and therefore, fiction...but the truths lying beneath the story are very real. This book is wonderful!
Rating: Summary: There should have been, like 10 stars Review: This is one amazing book. It has changed my life forever, for the better. No human should die not reading these words. Spectacular. Absolutely spectacular. You MUST read it. That's really all I can say. Amazing truths written inside. (also, the little blurb on the back cover doesn't paint a good picture of the book, it is so much more than that. Trust me.(How many times have you heard that on the Net, eh?)) Read it, and embark on a new, incredible way of life.
Rating: Summary: "Spiritual" Candy Review: The popularity of this book (and others like it) is an indication of just how spiritually bereft we have become. So many are so desperate for spiritual enlightenment that they believe that they can find it in silly (and poorly written) novels such as this, or in the sweat stains on the side of a water tower. This book is pure new age tripe. C'mon people, there are no "insights" here, unless you count Redfield's insight into how to mine the spiritually wanting for cash and fame.
Rating: Summary: the world of energy Review: This book is so useful for the spiritual beginner. the meaning of energy is very important. but we must know that in this way everything , including books, is way & we must go on because the world of energy is expanding.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book had a lot of information in it that was very useful. For instance, it talked about the 4 different types of people. I thought that that was interesting. Second, I have read some of the other reviews and one talks about the character development and how it wasn't so great. I don't think that that was the point of the book. Redfield was trying to get the point across that the world was changing and the people are changing into a more spiritual world and the characters and the setting aren't the main part of the book so look for what the story is not every little detail in it.
Rating: Summary: Who is Jesus? Review: I thought this book had some wonderful insights on how to deal with each other, especially children. After reading the last chapter, All I could say was "heh? ". This is a very new age view of Jesus. If you really want to know who Jesus is, read the bible. Any of the Gospels will give you a pretty good Idea of who Jesus is and what his purpose is. Spoecifically, try John 1, John 3, Matthew 7, Matthew 24.
Rating: Summary: Like or dislike Review: On the technical side how the book is written and grammar used does occasionally leave you wondering... did I pay for this book and why? If you read through these reviews you will note one thing. People either love it or hate it. For most people you will just need to find out for yourself. I personally had the same thing. Got the book about 3 1/2 years ago, started reading it and thought... nah.. this is not me.. And left it at that... About a year later I started reading it again and finished it in a couple of days and have since read it a number of times. It is very hard to describe the type of person who will enjoy this book and I think that it is just as black and white as the people who have read it. If you are openminded and like to read about how maybe human society can develop along the views that this book tells you - it is a must read. I guess is you are dealing alot with people (i.e. sales, manage people, public service, help centres) you can learn alot in this book. It has some great things written about how people use personal energy and how it effects you as a person. And there is lot more written about this as a personal development tool. Personally I rate this book very high. Have learned alot from it and have given it to about 7 people who I know.. Some have read it and enjoyed it (who I didn't expect that they would read it) and other who I really thought... yep... didn't read it or couldn't get into it... Hard to describe... bye it.. you can always sell it at the 2nd hand shop!
Rating: Summary: The best book i've ever read! Review: This is a great book. It got me thinking and contemplate about some of the issus writen in the book, about the spiritual things and about all the world. It's not an ordinery book. I've never read a book that's like this one- not from the espect of the way it's built (there're tenth prophets and the autor is presenting them by a guy who finds them out as the story evolves)and not from the expect of contact (it's the first book i've read which deals with such spiritual things(yet) like humane energy-but in an interesting way- as a plot and not explains about it in the ordinary way. I'v also read "The tenth prophety" by the same autor, which came as a continuation book. I liked the "celestine prophet" more. Actually the "Tenth.." was dissapointing because i came with expectations from this book. I wormlly recomend reading it. P.S Read this book!
Rating: Summary: Great for Introspective Kids Review: I first read this book in middle school, and I was very impressed. It gave me something to hope for, that one day our global culture can eventually come to mirror Redfield's hopes. I have always admired the questioning of authority in the book, the Catholic church and scientists, while not demonizing them. The ideas of auras is intruiging; I wish they really existed. I have always valued the characters' willingness to question themselves, analyze their faults, and try to deal with them. Partly because of this book I have always strived to be able to critically determine what my personality faults are and try to fix them. I admit that TCP is not written very well, but as a middle schooler I didn't notice. Recently I tried to read the 10th Insight, but it was written too poorly; I could not force myself to read it not matter how much I had liked TCP.
Rating: Summary: Wistful Thinking for the Millennium Review: The book might rate two stars only because it's mildly entertaining, but even there it's nothing great. It's utopian dream for the future falls far short of capturing the imagination in the grand way that previous utopian books have done. In short, it's a shallow dip of the toes into a deep, deep sea.
