Summary: Gruesome enough even for me!
Review: Being the morbidly curious person that I am -- one would have to be, to be a police reporter -- I found Dr. Kay Scarpetta's travels to the Body Farm, a place where dead bodies are left in various stages of decay to help determine time of death, to be my favorite of her books! I also love all the trouble poor Lucy always seems to get herself into. Being a hopeless romantic, I love the sexual tension between Scarpetta and FBI agent Benton Wesley. The ending was torturously surprising, the killer an absolute shock. This is Cornwell at her best!

Summary: A most excellent book!
Review: I am 14 and I read alot! And this is the first Patricia Cornwell book I have read! I absolutley loved it. I found it exciting and could not put it down! If you like crime novels then this is the book for you! I recommend it to everyone! I told my mother to read it and she absolutely loved it!

Summary: THRILLING!
Review: I really don't have much to write about this excellent book. What could I or anyone else say about the "Body farm" that is not already said?Patricia Cornwell is a great writer, she knows her fields so well...and the way she describes her heroes and her victims, it's like I am there with Dr. Scarpetta trying to solve the case together! When I started reading this book I didn't close it until I had finished it!

Summary: Nice Work
Review: I read this book and also read From Poter's Field, both books were very good. I found them very engrossing and thorough. Living through the life of Dr. Scarpetta was interesting. She gave very good insight. I whole heartedly recommend this book to any one who likes mysteries.

Summary: Cornwell's Books Are a MUST Read!
Review: This book, along with all others of Patricia Cornwell's, was wonderful. She is my absolute favorite talented author. Her plots are always very tense and cause me to want to stay up all night to finish the book. Ms. Cornwell will be anyone's favorite who loves the subject of forensic pathology and mystery all-in-one. I definitely recommend Ms. Cornwell's books...they are ALL a MUST read.

Summary: Guilty pleasure
Review: Not unlike listening to my CD compilation of 70's Disco Hits, reading Kay Scarpetta is one of my guilty pleasures. Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta novels feature a flawless, emotionless main character, lesbian undertones (sometimes not too subtle), and rushed, contrived endings. Still, at day's end, I cannot wait to pick up where I left off.

Summary: Cornwell should stick to subjects she knows about.
Review: Cornwell may know about forensic medicine, but she doesn't have a clue about linguistics. Her depiction of the young girl, Deborah's, speech, is a complete fabrication. Sorry if this confuses anyone, but I was affronted by Cornwell's description of this girl (pp. 228-231):

"Her voice was high-pitched and reminded me of banjo strings. I knew I would have a hard time understanding a word of what she might have to say. . . .her eyes never leaving mine. They were pale and crossed like a Siamese cat's. . . . 'Thar was looking for thar,' Deborah said to him, and I realized with amazement that she used 'thar' for every pronoun."

Come on. There's no evidence that a speaker of any language cannot differentiate between personal pronouns. If this is Cornwell's attempt to make Scarpetta appear superior, heaven help Kay Scarpetta. The contrast between these poor characters in Black Mountain, North Carolina and Ada and Inman from Cold Mountain is startling. If you want an authentic depiction of western North Carolina which has been researched thoroughly and presented with dignity and respect for its characters read _Cold Mountain_. This was my first Caldwell novel and may well be my last. I don't have time to read such drivel.

Summary: A book that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Review: This book is intense. It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. At one minute, you think you have it figured out then in the next you are not sure what is going on. Very Exciting book.

Summary: My first Cornwell book is not going to be my last!
Review: I'm a younger reader and I love this book. It was the first book I read by Patricia Cornwell and I have read 3 more of her books. I love reading the medical thrillers. I can't read them fast enough.

Summary: This book Stinks
Review: I found 'The Body Farm' to be boring and obvious. The first thing I noticed was it took about 14 pages to even say the main characters name! I thought the main character was a man till the 8th page or something! The writing is dry and un-imaginative and not detailed in a way that makes you want to get to know the people in the story.

Not really impressed I don't think I will be ordering anymore Patricia Cornwell books! It is amazing how highly acclaimed this author is. Dean koontz now that's a writer!
