Summary: a great book
Review: When writting paperback books, Ms. Howard never struck out. I have read every one of her books. For the most part I have loved all of them. When she started writting hardback books, her writting went down hill. I don't know what happened but hopefully she's now back on track. This book has brought her back. The suspense was great, the romance great, and the sex hot! I would love to see more books like Dream Man, Shades of Twilight and After the Night. These are the ones that should have been the hardbacks.

Summary: Great Linda Howard
Review: I agree with many other reviewers in that I was very disappointed with "Open Season." But "Dying To Please" definitely regained the points for Ms. Howard. I guess it was a bit graphic, but that doesn't bother me at all. It adds to the realism of the scene. If you're looking for a quality suspense this is a great choice.

Summary: Nope nope nope
Review: She didn't have it this time. Having read most of her novels, she's a hit and miss, but this one was a miss. There wasn't the usual edge of your seat suspense as some of her others have. It dragged on and were a lot of characters thrown in there for...what reason??? Just to fill it up a bit??

Linda Howard can get anyone hot and bothered, but is it getting routine for her. She has a real talent for the lusty sections, but it has been clouding over a bit lately.

Summary: Extremely disappointing!
Review: Extremely disappointing! The amount of violence was disturbing. I read “Open Season” and enjoyed it. This book was overkill on violence.

Summary: WooHoo! She's back!
Review: Okay, honestly, after reading OPEN SEASON and not enjoying it I wondered if I would ever pick up another Linda Howard hardcover. But I did. The summary on the inside cover of DYING TO PLEASE that is supposed to entice one to read the book did nothing but confuse me and turn me off. But, alas, a huge fan of Linda Howard, I decided to ignore that, too, and just read the book. I am so glad I did because SHE IS BACK.

The hero in this novel is a cop once again, sexy yes, but in the past where the hero dominated all the reader's attention, this time the heroine steals the show. Sarah Stevens does it so effortlessly that we do not realize how much we are rooting for her until until almost the end of the book. The woman kicks her way through the book with her wit, charm, and sexiness. Her relationship with the cop, Cahill, was great follow. The sex scenes were torch-hot. The attraction and emotions were intense and believable. And the suspense was intruiging without stealing the oomph out of the romance.

In my opinion, DYING TO PLEASE was well set up, well written, and an excellent read. Howard's characters were rich and colorful and human. And the suspense will make you tighten your hands on the cover more than a few times. SHE IS BACK.

Summary: A Good Linda Howard
Review: Once again Linda Howard does it: writes a good romatic mystery that has just enough gore to hold us true gory mystery lovers. Ms. Howard's heroine is a butler/body guard and from there the story gets better. The villian is a kinky killer (yeah) and the hero is a good balance to the heroine (he can eat crackers in my bed). You will not be disapointed.

Summary: Pleased me!
Review: I enjoy Linda Howard's books, and Dying to Please is no exception. Although there are some points to complain about, overall this was a fast, suspenseful and enjoyable read.
Sarah Stevens is a butler/bodyguard to a wealthy retired judge. When she thwarts a robbery she is featured on a news program. And so the stalking of Sarah begins. In the interim Sarah has begun a romance with the police officer who investigated the burglary. A lot of twists and turns occur after Sarah's employer is murdered, and she becomes the prime suspect.
My complaints are minor. I didn't like Cahill, the love interest, as much as I liked Sarah, and thought they were not a great couple. I also had problems with the stalker. I think he was presented as far to 'bland' to have hatched his diabolical scheme. Still the point of these type of books is not to think too much, just have fun. I had fun, the book was an easy and fast read, and I look forward to more by Ms. Howard.

Summary: Just not up to Linda Howard standards.
Review: I have always enjoyed all of Linda Howards books since she first began writing. Her men are always dynamic and make you wish they were real. This book was an absolute disappointment. The intrugue was great, but the characters, especially Cahill, just never seemed to develop. When I gave it my neighbor, who I swap books with, especially Linda Howard's, I told her to pass it on, I didn't want it back. It was the one Linda Howard book that I would not be keeping in my collection. I hope her next book lives up to my expectations.

Summary: disappointing
Review: I usually read the Linda Howard books but find her output uneven. Some good, some not so good. Nothing wrong with the writing per se, but sometimes they tend to the banal. I'm sick of the psycho type killers. I feel this one was written by the numbers. Hot sex, but that's not enough to make a book good. I'll probably pick up her next one, hoping that she'llbe back up to form.

Summary: Dying to Please is a summer reading must!!
Review: Dying to Please is a great pick. This is the first book I have finished in quite a long time. Generally I get bored and don't finish reading them. There is suspense and steamy love scenes. Definately a must! I could hardly put the book down.
