Rating: Summary: Magic Tree House Books 1-4 Review: I bought this set on tape for my son's 6th birthday so we could listen to them in the car while travelling. The stories are well-done and made him use his imagination. We enjoyed trying guessing what dinosaurs were being described and he wondered if the kids could see the moon and stars while they were in the castle. Even my 3-year-old had a good time listening. They can't wait to go on another trip to hear more of the stories.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for a child's imagination. Review: Magic Tree House fans now have the opportunity to hear their favorite series books read aloud. The collection, read by Mary Pope Osborne herself, contains books one through four. Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning and Pirates Past Noon, originally published by Random House between the years 1992 and 1994, are appropriately brought to life through the author's telling. Osborne gives new life to the practical, yet inquisitive, Jack and his irrepressible, animal-charming sister Annie, as they embark on new time-travel adventures. The love of reading and books that is portrayed in the print books is evident in this audio collection. It is an interesting experience to hear the author read her own work. The aural experience of hearing the stories is very comparable to that of actually reading the books; Osborne does a fine job of characterizing Jack, Annie and other characters. The aural quality of the cassettes is enhanced by the introduction and conclusion musical interludes that accompany each story. The music gives the stories an episodic feel that makes the stories move quickly. This collection would be suitable for listening in groups or by individuals; it would also be appropriate as an audio companion to the print versions of these books. The Magic Tree House Collection is a definite purchase for Osborne fans.

Rating: Summary: Excellent for a child's imagination. Review: My 7 year old son received this for a birthday present. Surprisingly, he couldn't wait to listen to the stories. They all held his attention and he loved having some quiet time alone to listen to the tapes. Mom loved seeing him enjoying reading, even if it was listening on tape.
Rating: Summary: This is Great! Review: The Magic Treehouse books are good for kids who have missed out on some reading skills. It is also good for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. Jack and Annie, the stars of the book, get into a lot of adventures and it is fun to read them. Mary Pope Osborne reads the books on the tape. She makes it so you really hear Jack and Annie's voices. I think kids will like this tape and grown-ups would like to hear the stories with their children. -- Munroe Woodward, Age 8
