Rating: Summary: Before Mr. Woods began writing crap!! Review: A thrilling and awesome read. These were the days when Stuart Woods wrote exciting adventures that were so suspenseful you could'nt do anything but read until you were finished the whole book. Now all he seems to do is write about stupid Stone Barrington and it is sooo dull. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a fast and thrilling tale!!
Rating: Summary: The title should just be Dead.... Review: Bad book, bad story, bad characters almost a joke bad. Hard to believe that anyone enjoyed this all to predictable nonsense. As a fan of the genre I had high hopes but had to force myself to finish just to make sure it was as bad as I thought. It was. In fact the story only gets worse as it goes on. You will be dissapointed if you read this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: First novel for me, I read this at sixteen back in 93'.......I've been reading, and reading ever since. Superb suspence.
Rating: Summary: All you could want, but there's just one thing... Review: great read that moves along quickly and doesn't linger to distraction on the romantic involvements of the main character (the downfall of so many detective yarns). however, i am still confused about one thing: on page 213 of the paper edition, stone is asked by his new law partner to undertake a video-taping on behalf of a male client who wants a divorce from his philandering wife..."if he gets his little video...," implying the client is male. he then gets the video (page 234) and his law partner is so thrilled he calls his client immediately to relay the good news, but the call begins "hello, charlotte?" implying that a woman is the client. i read this several times and it still reads as if an editor blinked along the way. thinking this was deliberate, i assumed going forward that this somehow played into the plot. it doesn't, but there it is.
Rating: Summary: A great read Review: I don't remember the least time I've read a non-fiction author who writes so well that I couldn't put the book down. Stone Barrington is an interesting character that Stuart Wood develops well in this book. You will be introduced to characters that Woods fleshes out in later books.
Rating: Summary: AN EDGE OF YOUR SEAT MYSTERY Review: I found New York Dead to be a very good and exciting book. I have read a few Stuart Woods books and have quite a few more to read. I have started my collection of Stuart Woods books and I am looking forward to reading much more. This book New York Dead had me on the edge of my seat all the time, especially when Herb was about to do stone in and then Dino at the last minute came to his rescue. I thought it was very freaky how when Stone came into the dining area and seen all of the corpses sitting at the table. I could only imagine the look on his face. I never expected that to happen. That is what I like about Stuart Woods books, just when you think you know what is going to happen, something else does. I stongly reccomend this book to everyone who likes mysteries. All Stuart Woods books are keepers.
Rating: Summary: Great Author Review: I love all of Stuart Woods books and I picked them up by accident. I just love Stone Barrington and wish he were a real person, just so I could meet him. I loved New York Dead and he had me stumped on how the ending would come out. I just love Stuart Woods and hope he comes out with some new books with Stone really soon.
Rating: Summary: A real thriller from cover to cover. Review: I love Stuart Woods' books. All of them! But, this one has more twists than a fart in a whirlwind.Just try to stop reading after a couple of pages.
Rating: Summary: Suspense on every page Review: I must confess! I did not even finish reading the book yet. I have read Stuart Woods a long time ago and decided to pick this one up because it is written about NYC and I live in NYC. I don't even want to finish it, that is how great it is. I feel every page, every chapter has a bang to it and never gets predictable. I hope the other books I just ordered are as well written and suspenseful as this one.
Rating: Summary: Great book, what a twist Review: I suppose some people saw the ending coming. I didn't. I haven't had a nightmare from reading a book in 15 years. I did last night. Absolutely great from beginning to end.
