Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK!!
Review: I've prayed to God to enable me to keep my faith in Him for all my life, because I know just how vulnerable I am to Satan's lies. And the Lord granted me this book- with it, I am SURE I will NEVER let go of my faith and trust in His Will. In addition, this book has also answered MANY of the questions I had about God and how He works. Dr.Dobson is a wonderful person!

Summary: I thank God for placing James Dobson in our lives.
Review: James Dobson has written many wonderful books, but I consider this one to be the best for me. So many things in our lives just don't make sense, but as long as we believe that God is in charge of everything and that all things happen for a reason we will be fine. This book has help me to see myself as a ring laying in the middle of God's hand and all his fingers surround me like shields. Nothing comes through those shields that he does not permit. Now when things get a little rough in my life I just remember, "I'm laying in the middle of God's hand and he's going to protect me." Thank-you

Summary: A Good Salve For the Hurting
Review: The problem of pain. It's a hard topic and it's been tackled by wiser men than he, but Dobson gives it his best shot here and does a surprisingly nice job. This book won't blow away anyone's mind with new philosophical or theological insights, but it does give the average Christian a really good handbook on the subject of suffering. Why bad things do happen to Christians, what the Bible says about this, what the Bible DOESN'T say about it, and where God is in the midst of the suffering and confusion. As Dobson says, it's virtually guaranteed that every Christian will, at one time or another in their life, experience a tragedy that is powerful enough to rock their faith to its core. It is in that time when we need to be assured of what exactly it is that we believe about God, His love, and His promises. This book is a great preparation for that eventuality, and a really good salve for the Christian who currently is wounded and in need of being picked up. Four stars, and a recommendation to those who can't find a copy of Philip Yancey's Disappointment With God.

Summary: God does make sense
Review: This book is awesome. We learn that God is in control of our life. Most of the time when we're experiencing difficulties in our life, we begin to questioning Him, whether or not He's there for us. The book taught us that God has a wonderful plan for each of us. Sometimes it doesn't look good if viewed from human perspectives. But He has His own way! Just believe and obey Him, and He will prove us that His plan is the most wonderful thing that will happen to us.

Summary: This is one of the most heart warming book that I have read.
Review: This book is well written and to the point. It sends a strong message of God's love for his people even if and when they are not aware of his love and care. One becomes acutely aware of the complesities of God's thoughts to the point that one has little knowledge and understanding of God's overall plan and how it fits into one everday life. This book makes one painfully aware that God is in charge of this universe and is not, in any fashion, answerable to man as to the whens and whys of his actions. Upon reading this book one will be atuned to the fact that His choices and actions are for the good of man whether his actions and choices are understood or not. If one wants to know more about the personality of God, read this book. Catution: it could change your life.

Summary: Not What I Was Looking For
Review: This book seems to me to be written on an 8th Grade Level or lower for Christians who are not accustomed to thinking for themselves. I would rather have had more Bible study and fewer examples of others' personal tragedies. The Q&A Chapter was "plastic." It is almost like the reader is being told what kinds of questions are to be asked. I also did not appreciate disparaging remarks of Mr. Dobson about "New Age" religion and those who practice it, as well as the comment by someone whose story he was quoting that the someone could have made an easier living by forsaking his "literal" interpretation of the Bible. The Bible is powerful and speaks for itself. I do not think it is necessary to disparage the beliefs of others in an attempt to make "right wing" Christians feel they are more "righteous" than less conservative Christians. There is some very helpful material in the book, of course. But I was looking for something to help me build my faith and found instead chapter after chapter saying, "We often don't know why."

Summary: It's all about believing in God... NO MATTER WHAT!
Review: This book shows us that certain bad things happen in our lives that makes us wonder and ask the question "WHY?". And this book helps us how to deal with that question, and helps us accept those things and move on. It's point of view for me is that the only reason why "God doesn't make sense" is because we are not God, but only His children. How can we be able to understand someone so omnipotent when we hardly understand each other as human beings. Yet he understands us all and all we can really depend on is our faith in Him as our Creator, as our God, and as our loving Father who is the only one who knows what's best for us, His children.
