Rating: Summary: A Revelation for Underperformers & Procastinators Review: I have not read the original book by Maxwell Maltz yet, but after reading this book I will.I was a newcomer to the conceptual ideas contained in this book. In the UK no-one seemed to know Maltz or his theory. The ideas and the way this book was written are conducive to a clear understanding and application of Maltz's theory. As a newcomer I can recomend this book on it's own merits. It is clearly written, the theory is clearly laid out and in simple terms. The theory itself is breathtakingly simple, but the repercussions on areas such as goal setting and goal attainment are INCREDIBLE. I had always grown up to understand that it is Willpower that will conquer all, and goal success can only be attained by using willpower. Everytime I tried to use willpower I seemed to fail. This theory explains why failure will occur, and what to do about it, and how to set goals and achieve them. If you are a failed goal setter, who habitually prefers procrastination than action, this book and application of the theory, will change your life. Application of the theory contained in the book will have a profound affect on your life. Highly Recomended
Rating: Summary: Psycho-Cybernetics 4-Tape Abridged Audio Review: This material has the power to transform your life by applying its teachings meaningfuly in your life. It requires at least 2-3 listenings before it can profoundly influence your life for change. I consider it one of the best guides available in the self-help arena. I strongly recommend it to all ages.
Rating: Summary: a little better than the original Review: I enjoyed the original Psych-Cybernetics when it came out. This version is moreup to date in connecting psych-cybernetics to moderndiscoveries about how the brain works. The political correctness is a little overdone, emphasizing thatthe technique can be used by women who have careers, minorities, etc., but I guess one expects that sort of thing in the ninetees. I study the book a little every day, although I have already read it once through. Excellentfor people interested in the brain.
Rating: Summary: A true classic that stands the test of time.... Review: Of the perhaps thousand books that I have read in my lifetime, PsychoCybernetics occupies a very special and honoured place on my bookshelf... This classic self help book is so mature and sane in its content. No gimmicks, no bells and whistles...Just timeless truth and wisdom from an obviously wise and insightful man. This book was a landmark in proving that our self image is all important in determining the quality of our lives. It is inspirational in its promise and challenge that we can change our self image systematically and effectively. Its insights into our psychology are deep, and ring so true in their logic and simplicity. Maltz did not want to make himself a guru....as is evidenced by so many self help authors. As a matter of fact, as an avid reader of self help books, I see that most of the modern self-help authors base themselves on the writing of this giant man. In a thousand years, when some yet unborn person will write their doctorate on self help books through the ages, many of today's books and authors will have been long forgotten - but not Maltz...His book will live on as a classic work. Its truths shining on in their timelessness. One of the great thinkers of all time once said: " If I have seen further than others, it is only because I have stood on the shoulders of giants." Maxwell Maltz, without a doubt, is a true giant among authors who have bestowed upon the world inspirational literature..Please allow me to pass on to you the gift of his wisdom - as a token of my appreciation to Maltz and his legacy which have so deeply affected and enriched my life.
Rating: Summary: Left so much to be desired Review: I give this book 2 stars because the author tried so hard. And I really believe she wishes to help others with this dubious "re-make" of the original "Psycho-Cybernetics." To even begin to attempt to improve on Maxwell Maltz's ingenious and bestselling work, the author should have been extremely sure that she had some extra information of benefit to people. Instead, she offers trite interpretations on the original work, and seems to be mostly concerned that we remain politically correct in remembering that both male and female can benefit from this book. The author then gets preachy and pedantic (referring to the agoraphobic client of hers) and tries very hard to write something helpful, but instead ends up with a cumbersome tome' that says a whole lot about nothing. You would be far better off buying the classic, "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Dr. Maltz published in the early 1960's. Bottom line: If you attempt to improve on perfection, you had better be sure you have an honest shot at it. The author failed and it is strikingly obvious. Yet I do believe she meant well.
Rating: Summary: PHYSICIAN, HEAL THYSELF! Review: One of the best self-help books in the world. Dr Maltz uses a common sense approach which will speak to anyone. Have read the book 2 times, and will do it again soon. His advice gives me strength to live this tumultous world courageously. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Read it! Review: I want to add my voice to the many readers who express gratititude to Dr. Maltz and to the common sense he articulated long before it was fashionable. He served as a marvelous antidote to Freudian advice to keep activating the wrong engrams. Although his precepts are used, and rightly so, by authors with a narrower focus, it does him an injustice to put this book on a par with others that have "rich" or "wealth" in the title. The concepts are fundamental and apply to the achievement of any goal, financial or otherwise.
Rating: Summary: Other than the Bible, this is THE BOOK you must read. Review: I was not going to write a review since I noticed that most of the other reviewers gave the book '5 stars' - but there was the gentleman from Carson City that gave it 4 stars due to his distaste for the few references that Dr. Maltz made related to God. Personally, I found it refreshing to see Dr. Maltz's references to the 'divine' and to God. Some people will complain about anything. Psycho-Cybernetics helped me to eliminate my fears of public speaking, helped me to 'slam-dunk' a basketball, and helped me get a job! I first read it almost 15 years ago and have kept it with me ever since. Sure, the guy was talking about examples of the 1960's - but the book is timeless in it's power and relevancy. You must read this book! I promise you will be glad you did!!! Please take my advice on this one !!!

Rating: Summary: The original Psycho-cybernetics flows much more smoothly. Review: Came across Psych-Cybernetics 2000 by accident and decided to take a look hoping to give it to my youngest daughter at high school graduation. The message here is certainly Dr. Maltz's but the presentation and writing are too dry, too wordy, too nineties, and too gimmicky for me. The original Psycho-Cybernetics published in the sixties virtually changed my life and how I look at myself and the world. I was happy to find that the original is still in print and decided to give that one to my daughter instead. My yellowing tattered old copy is still in my personal library having travelled all over the country with me from house to house to house and surviving several major bookshelf lightenings over the past thirty-five years. The late Dr. Maltz should be canonized for his insightful and timeless therapeutic messages, and his excellent presentation of his various theses. While Dr. Sommer's Psycho-Cybernetics 2000 brings his message a little more up to date, the original book is by no means dated except for an innocently pre-feminist, mostly male, fifties/sixties orientation. But Psycho-Cybernetics 2000 just doesn't flow as smoothly as the original, nor is it as compellingly written. Though it might, however, be better received by those not familiar with the original, I was probably spoiled by what I think is a more inspirational presentation. Either way, the psycho-biological message is unassailable in my professional biologist eyes. Maybe both books should be on one's library shelves since Psycho-Cybernetics 2000 is written from a somewhat different utilitarian perspective than the original Psycho-Cybernetics.
