Summary: Very Funny, If you lived in S. FL!
Review: This book is very funny, but only if you have ever been in Florida for over 10 seconds (the amount of time it takes for a weird news story to appear). The end of the story is a page turner! Rodger the dog is very funny! I saw Dave Barry at a local book sotre a fwe days ago.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Wacky weird and fun!
Review: This is the ultimate book to read if you want to escape from a hard days work and have some laughs. Having visited Miami many times for both work and pleasure, I can honestly say that Dave has hit that town on the head. The scenes at the Miami airport are a hoot. I thought I was going to die laughing. This is no mighty literary work. You probably can read it in a day and a half. But, if you want fun.....fun it is!

Summary: I have read other of the same genre
Review: I want to say that the people who wrote the blurbs on the cover are all people he is friends with, so the worship is not all that strange, they all like him. I loved the book, it was really in the Carl H. variety. Maybe not quite as outlandish, but I look to Dave Barry to top this book. I am a Looong standing fan of Dave's. I have been reading his stuff for years and have most of it memorized, and honestly, there is a Dave Barry quote for every situation. I loved the book, please, keep them coming.

Summary: Funny, worth reading (but his columns are better)
Review: Well, he gave Carl Hiassen credit for the genre, and now having read this book, I would say that's where credit is due. Perhaps he's not as mean to his characters as Hiassen, perhaps that's a good thing... There is one scene that made the book worth reading, though. It involves a cop, an entertainment center, and a dog. Pure Barry. Check it out.

Summary: Got to be a movie, it's that good.
Review: If you like Elmore Leonard you will love this book. I couldn't put it down.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: The territory's been covered by Hiaasen,Leonard and Shames
Review: Although this book was entertaining and well paced, and Dave Barry is a funny guy, I expected something a little more original than the multi point of view-everything that rises must converge style that's done by Carl Hiaasen,Elmore Leonard and Lawrence Shames. All of whom, I regret to say, have done it better than Dave. If someone unknown had written this book, it probably would have ended up as a PBO that went OP after 30 days. Try something more original next time, please, Dave. This imitation doesn't do your talent justice.

Summary: "Big Trouble" is a great story!
Review: Dave Barry should have been writing stories such as "Big Trouble" all of these years. He weaves together a complicated tale that is a fast, enjoyable read. I read the entire book in one 3 hour sitting. Good Stuff (tm).

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Dave Barry is in Big Trouble!!
Review: Big Trouble is indeed what Dave Barry got himself into by attempting to write a novel. The only page worth reading is 31 where he writes about the mosquitos. It is downhill from there. Stick to column writing in newspapers Barry, those we throw in the trash after reading! I'm rating it 1 star just for the effort!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Dave Barry is no Ernest Hemingway but....
Review: Not the greatest work of fiction, or well written for that matter, but if you want a fun, very quick read, then I suggest you pick this book up.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Really hard to put down--and funny too!
Review: Even though this book was definitely not entirely realistic, it was hilarious (I have never laughed out lout while reading a novel before) and also had a great story with plenty of action. I highly recommend it and I hope Dave Barry keeps on writing novels that are this good.
