Rating: Summary: The Landry News Review: Landry News is a great book. It teaches kids to tell the truth. I recommend it to all kids any age. I liked it because Cara wrote he own paper all by her self called The Landry News. Then one of Cara's friend wants to help so she lets him help her work on it with her. He shows her how to type on the computer and now she can even put pictures in the news paper. The first issue came out everyone loved it. They were talking about it in the class then people were asking it they could help with the newspaper. Cara said yes anyone who wants to help can. The kids wrote articles on things they like. I thought Cara was so nice because she let anyone who wanted to be in the newspaper be in it. It teaches kids a lesson to be nice and share. Well that's why I liked the book The Landry News.

Rating: Summary: Reading, Writing, and Rights Review: The author of Frindle weaves another magic web you'll want to get caught in with The Landry News. Sparks fly when burned out teacher, Karl Larson, meets inquisitive student Cara Landry. Landry uses her keen observation skills and incredible writing talents to publish a newspaper for her classmates, which she calls The Landry News.
Landry writes an editorial article about Mr. Larson's unconventional teaching style and sets off an unforgettable chain of events. Mr. Larson goes from tired teacher to inspired teacher as persistent Cara Landry challenges the way things have been. Classmates who barely noticed Landry before are suddenly volunteering to help write articles and help get the handwritten newspaper into a more professional format by using the computers in the school's lab.
Cara Landry learns about "balancing truth and mercy," and the entire class gets a first hand lesson about the freedom of press when Mr. Larson's job is jeopardized over the publishing of a controversial article.
Author Andrew Clements craftily wields words, keeping the reader hungry to find out what happens next. Clements' story inspires children to make a difference in their schools and communities, while teaching valuable lessons about honesty, kindness, and creativity. I expect Week In The Woods, a fourth title by Clements, to be as interesting and inspiring as The Landry News, Frindle, and The Report Card.
