Rating: Summary: I LOVE THOSE BUCHANAN GORGEOUS MAN Review: I have read all her book and this is one of her best. the way she puts together Mike the beautiful doctor from Luisiana and Theo the handsome attorney. the sowing group who are the bad guys attorneys that had gone to the other side of the law and how they do not fear killing someone just to get their money. Big daddy Mike's dad is one character you just love, and JOHN PAUL I just love him. (IF you haven't read KILLJOY is about him. he is piece of art)What I love about her is how all the guys in her novels fell in love with the girls and no matter how macho they are they just melt when they are around them. READ MERCY AND KILLJOY AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. ALSO ITS A NICE SEQUEL OF THE STORY, STARTING IN HEARTBREAKER-MERCY-KILLJOY. Hopefuly she is going to write about Noah Clayborne the other cookie in all these books. Read it you will love it.
Rating: Summary: Also a good book... Review: This is a great book, with a good dose of both romance and suspense. I like the heroine (Michelle) 'cos she's not a damsel-in-distress (w/c is quite obvious when she stays calm though she knows there's a snake going up her leg in the dark), and she doesn't try to lie to herself. Like I said, a great book, but not necessarily the best I have read. I'd give it a 4 1/2, except I don't think I can rate anything that isn't a whole no.
Rating: Summary: 1 star for effort Review: please be real this book was one the the worst books I have ever read for an author of [a] high standard. I was truly a devoted fan collecting and reading every book u have published. [The] old books were magic. What Happened too the magic please bring it back...
Rating: Summary: A Surprisingly Great Read!! Review: Like most fans of Julie Garwood's wonderful historical romance novels, I was very hesitant to read any of her contemporary novels for fear that I wouldn't like them. As fate would have it, a rainy day, some free time, and plain old curiosity made me pick up a copy of Mercy.I was hooked from the first page. I was drawn into the plot of the corrupt Sowing Club and their connection to the heroine Dr. Michelle Renard. Michelle is a strong, smart contemporary character who is easy to like and identify with. I very much liked Theo Buchanan, who is sexy, smart, and quite versatile. I felt that the romantic and sexual tension between her and Theo was just enough to make you drool but not too much to make you roll your eyes in disgust. Most surprising to me about this book was Julie Garwood's ability to balance the mystery/adventure with the romance between the two characters. Unlike most books I have read, I was not able to predict the ending (other than Michelle and Theo living happily ever after). I must say that Ms. Garwood has done an excellent job in transitioning to contemporary novels. I will give her future contemporary works more consideration when choosing something to read.
Rating: Summary: If only Mercy was the Energizer Bunny... Review: The only thing I truly didn't like about this book was the ending. Because it ended. If only it kept going and going and going...
Rating: Summary: Good plot, but I like my characters a little more "real" Review: Julie Garwood is a contradiction to me. Her writing is often cliche and she changes voice quite a bit, but the heart of the story was interesting to read. We have your typical drop dead gorgeous hero and heroine in this book and a steamy romance that is a little too "foggy" for my liking (the weak in the knees bit gets a little tiresome), but the intrigue that she weaves and the plot twists are enough to hold your attention. She has moved away from her typical historical and gone more mainstream in this one but the writing remains classically hers.
Rating: Summary: I liked it! Review: This book was a great summer thriller. I like books that have mystery without gory murderers and romance without porn. This book definitely fit the bill. The characters are likable and the story was better than most mystery/romance plots. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Rating: Summary: Garwood Cashes In Review: Like many of her more successful predecessors, Julie Garwood is beginning to rest a little too heavily on her laurels - and the marketing skills of her publishing company. Okay, we've never been talking Faulkner, here; but Ms Garwood could always be depended upon to deliver reasonably well written, funny, and sometimes touching, romantic fiction to those of us who wanted a bit of intelligence with our escapism. This book, like its contemporary predecessor, reads as if she wrote it while balancing her checkbook. Little humor, little character development, little fun. Ms. Garwood, go back to your roots, take your time with your writing, and quit anticipating your advance checks. With the lousy product that you've been producing recently, they may dry up sooner than you anticipate.
Rating: Summary: Mercy Me!!! Review: Wow! Wow! Wow! I've read most of Garwood's historical romance novel, and I've loved every one. This contemporary romance was a joy as well. Gripping from chapter one. Vivid characters. Realalistic but unique plot. If well done, I can see it being a wonderful movie too. Applause!!!
Rating: Summary: not finished Review: I am not finished but so far I like the book. It is a refreshing relief from all of those other romance novels that have nothing but sex and no story line. I like a good romance story than seedy sex scenes. Maybe other writers should take a lesson from her.
