Rating: Summary: Princess Diaries - a great book for everyone Review: My name is Megan and i am 16 years old. I have always read on a mature reading level. I can remember being in 5th grade and pulling out Mary Higgins Clark's "Let me Call you Sweetheart" during reading hour. Normally, i stick to adult reading material, but there was a sample of this book in Seventeen that intrigued me. I read the book in 2 days. I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in laughing and having a good time while reading.
Rating: Summary: When will a sequel come out!!!?? Review: This is a great book for young adult girls. It's a modern day Cinderella-esque story about New Yorker Mia Thermopolis who finds out she's the crown princess of the fictional principality Genovia. Mia is an unconventional 14-year old heroine. She finds herself too tall and too flat-chested, she's flunking algebra, and she's never been on a date. On top of that her mother had no problem scoring a date with her algebra teacher. Her life as she knows it is turned upside down when her father, the prince of Genovia, informs her he's no longer able to have children, and she is his only heir. Instead of being thrilled, Mia is embarrassed and resistent as she's subjected to "princess lessons" and being constantly photographed by the press. The book ends nicely, but before Mia takes on any official duties, so a sequel on how she deals with life in Genovia would be interesting. This book was written in diary format and is a fairly quick and fun read.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious and easy to relate to Review: Mia Thermopolis is just your average 14-year-old vegetarian feminist environmentalist with confrontation issues when she discovers that she is the sole heir to the throne of Genovia, a small European principality. She now has to cope with paparazzi everywhere and princess lessons from her intolerable Grandmere, the dowager princess, not to mention the everyday pressures of Mia's life! Sounds formulaic? Maybe it is somewhat, but more than formulaic, it's hilarious and sympathetic. Anyone can understand Mia's initial reaction to the discovery of her royal blood: she bursts into tears. She is an individual who doesn't like makeup and fake nails, isn't trendy and just wants to be herself. This book is perfect for any girl who considers herself an outsider and is tired of being told she should change!
Rating: Summary: I know this book is for teens, but... Review: it was a fun read. It caught my attention after I heard about the movie coming out. I was curious, so what the heck? I can hardly wait for my daughter to get old enough to read it. It's a cute book, looking forward to the film (a guilty pleasure, ok?).
Rating: Summary: It was okay. Review: But it wasn't what I expected. It really wasn't that much about Mia being a princess. It was just a typical nerdy girl wants the hunky guy kind of story. The princess thing was really kind of background, like Mia's got all these typical teenaged problems and oh, by the way, she's also a princess. And I thought Mia whined a lot.
Rating: Summary: good.. Review: this was pretty good..but i'm lookin forward to the movie by disney channel better. Called THE PRINCESS DIARIES, it stars Julie Andrews, Eric von Dettan, MANDY MOORE!! and more.same as the book, it comes out in August, its a must see!
Rating: Summary: Fit for Any Teenager Who Thinks They Are A Misfit Review: Not only is Mia Thermopolis the laughing stock of practically the whole school except her best friend, Lilly... she also finds out she's a princess. Not only a princess...a princess of a country she's never even heard of. Turns out Mia is furious...but the rest of Manhattan treats her like royalty. Even Lana...a cheerleader snob who suddenly respects Mia after seeing her on the cover of The Post. So now, Mia's popular. What will happen next to Mia? You should read the book and find out, because I garuntee any girl teenager struggling would enjoy this, and it would enlighten them to feel like there's someone out there like them too. My review may not seem that interesting...but let me tell you, you will LOVE this book.
Rating: Summary: The Perfect Book for a Princess..... Review: This book kept me amused long after the final page was turned. It tells the story of Mia Thermopolis, who lives with her mom in the suburbs. Her parents are divorced, and her father lives in Genovia. In the story, she learns that her father is a prince--the prince of Genovia! Because her father cannot have any more children, Mia is heir to the throne! In the book, she finds this out and tries to deal with it. The book is written in diary format, which made it enjoyable, because it let me see her thoughts day by day. She is very much like a real teen, at times going overboard with guys, style, and friends. Mia's attitude was well written, the author did a good job finding out how a teen thinks. These things together led me to rate this book a four. I would recommend this book to any girl over age twelve, who like to read about other teen's lives. Because this story revolves around a teenage girl, if you're a guy, this book will most likely not be interesting to you. Also, there are a few spots in this book that wouldn't be appropriate for girls under twelve. All in all, The Princess Diaries is a great read that will keep you smiling until the last page.
Rating: Summary: Really Fun Review: I read this book in one day. It was really light and fun and it was really great to read about how Mia--a sort of flakey teenager deals with her problems that are sometimes really funny. So many books are weighed down by heavy problems like drugs, and death and abuse, and suicide, rape that it's refreshing to hear about Mia's life. Although her life is not simple, her problems are so outrageous that you just want to laugh about them. Even though most people probably can't relate to the princess part in the book, i'm sure most people can relate to not doing well in a class or problems with your best friend, or having a crush on an older guy, and the way Mia tells it through her journal is really funny and real. Meg Cabots writing is sounds like a real teenager, making the story so easy to relate to. So if you're looking for a really quick, easy, fun book to read this is a great pick!
Rating: Summary: Princess Diaries Review: Princess Diaries isn't some predictable book, and it isn't about some snobby stuck up, already popular girl who becomes a princess. It is a story of a girl (15 years old) that has never had a date, sucks at algebra, and her mom is dating her algebra teacher(YUCK!!!) One day though everything changes because her dad can't have kids anymore, which makes Mia the heir of the throne for a small country no one has even ever heard of!!!!! She tries to keep the news that she is a princess a secret, but someone tells the newspaper that all about it. Now, of course, everyone knows she is a princess and now she is Ms. Popular, someone she has always dreamed about being. Of course, her friend Lilly gets mad at her, and things just grow, and grow, and grow until it is almost unbearable for Mia. Will Mia ever get her life back? All and all this was a very entertaining book, and I couldn't put it down. It is probably one of my all time fav's and I'm a teen. SO, I hope I have inspired you to read this book, and thanks for reading my review!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
