Summary: Sarah, a California reader
Review: When I heard about the movie, I wasn't too anxious to see it, but the book intrigued me. I read this book and was astounded at how much I enjoyed it. Although you probably already know a vague outline of the plot, Mia Thermolpolis is a younger New Yorker who lives with her single-parent mother in Greenwich Village. She and her father are not close, and she finds out he is diagnosed with a type of cancer that will not let him have any more children. She later learns that she is heir to the Genovian throne, and her grandmother wants to mold her into a princess. Genovia is supposedly an incredibily small European country. She is desperate to hide the secret and tell no one about her new discovery. But the news does get out, and she become vey popular. Lots more happens, and I absolutely loved this book. Read it. It's worth it. I wouldn't bother seeing the movie because it's dissappointing after the book, but if you have seen the movie, read the book. It's a lot different.

Summary: Must-read for reluctant readers
Review: My ten-year-old daughter is a good, but not enthusiatic, reader. Well, she LOVED The Princess Diaries! I read it myself and I, too, found it terrifically engaging. Mia is a wonderful creation, with a "voice" that swings in true teen-aged fashion from maturity and wisdom to youth and silliness in the space of a sentence. My daughter is already almost through the sequel, Princess in the Spotlight. (I myself stayed up late to finish it!) Share this fine book with a girl you know. . . she will thank you for it.

Summary: Better than the movie
Review: If you totally loved the movie! You'll love the book even better.
The book is like a totally different story. I suggest it for everybody. If your looking you might as well just take it! Meg Cabot is so discriptive, you can so get into this book.

Summary: Love it on Audio too!
Review: Mia Thermopolis is a normal teenaged girl just trying to get through normal everyday life, and is thrust into the spotlight when it's discovered she's the only heir to the throne of Genovia.
She finds herself taking princess lessons from an overbearing grandmother. Wonderfully read by the actress from Disney's recently released movie. The plot in the movie is the same although some of the story is different, i.e. location and father existence.
Read or listen, it's a great story.

It captures me in its fantansies as if I was in a dream or if I was really there. I recommend for all teenagers to read it! For you will fall in love with it! You know, It's only one chance in a lifetime to pretend that you are a PRINCESS. Dont miss it! I guarantee you won't regret it!

Summary: Very, Very, Very Cool
Review: I purchased this book at the local book store in the small town I live in...after I had seen the movie, hoping for a good read on our vacation to the Cariboo. Well, duh! I sure got one.
As soon as Mia whisps you away into her world, you love the book. Mia, the fourteen year old heir to the throne of Genovia has alot of problems. Her mom dating one of her teachers , her grandmother with tattooed eye liner (what's with that?) and princess lessons, and all the media attention. But, she some how gets through all of it.
It's nothing like the movie...so if you've seen it, your in for a surprise, and that's all I'm going to say!

Summary: Good book- Bad movie
Review: This was one of the best books I have ever read. It was about Mia Thermopolis, a normal girl that every teenager can relate to in some way, who finds herself in a very not normal circumstance. I loved this book and I thought it was hilarious. I really enjoyed the characters and how Mia described them, i.e. her grandmother with her tattooed eyeliner, her father with testicular cancer. My only problem was that the movie was very inacurate. It completely robbed the story of every part that made it a good book. The humor and plot was lost in a typical Disney movie. I was told by my friend to read it before the movie came out, and I am soooo glad I did!

Summary: Fun summer reading book for teen girls.
Review: Teenage girls will especially love this book, THE PRINCESS DIARIES. I know because I am a teenage girl and I loved it. After seeing the new Disney film, I had to go out and read this book. If you know the plot of the film, then you basically know the plot of the book. It's about a young modern-day teen girl named Mia who is kind of a klutz and lives with her mother. Then she finds out she is actually a princess of a small European town called Genovea and must learn to act like a princess so she can be heir to the throne. This book is exciting and interesting with a unique storyline. If you like good teen, fantasy novels, then I definitely recommend THE PRINCESS DIARIES. Also check out the Disney film starring Julie Andrews - it's just as amazing!:)

Summary: A great book!!
Review: Although this book is for older children, more like teenagers, this is a great book to read. It deals with issues like cancer, an how it's hard to adjust to new things, but Meg Cabot does it in a funny way!! If you have younger children, let them watch the movie and not let them read the book.

Summary: Very Dissapointing
Review: After seeing the Disney production of this book, I was very excited to read the adventures of Mia and her crazy life. However, this book did not live up to even one of my expectations. It was not worth my time or money. The movie is wonderful and apropriate for all ages. However, there is no way I would let a twelve year old read this book. It is too crude for any of my "princesses" to read. Instead of being inspireing about how anyone can become what ever they want, I found pages of an annoying young girl who is too concered about the size of her chest and whether or not her algabra teacher is "frenching" her mother. Do not waste your time ont this book.
