Rating: Summary: funny and ctue NOT LIKE THE MOVIE!! Review: this book is probaly one of the funniest true to life books i have read lately. I felt like I knew Mia nad she was my buddy or something. I did not like the movie at ALL! I hated it and it was not even based on the book at all. Anyway even though the plot was kind of out there I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the sequel!!
Rating: Summary: The Princess Diaries is great Review: Mia Thermopolis never expected that something exciting was going to happen in her life. That was, until her father came to town. Mia is a freshman at Albert Einstein High School. She is not very popular or too pretty but she finds ways to deal with it. Her best friend's name is Lilly Moscovitz. Mia and Lilly have been friends since they were in kindergarten. In the beginning of the story, Mia lives with her mom in an apartment in Manhattan. Her dad and her mom are separated and her dad lives in Genovia with Mia's grandmother. Mia's father turns out to be the prince of Genovia. He had cancer and can no longer have children, so there is no heir to the throne. The only heir left is Mia. She is not very happy when she finds out that she is a princess because she will have to move to Genovia and leave all of her friends. The first step to being a princess is to learn how to be a princess. Mia's grandmother gives her princess lessons every day after school. Mia learns everything about sitting right, which fork to use first, how to walk, stand, eat, and talk. Mia's grandmother also takes her to the salon to get a total makeover. Mia's hair turns from light brown frizz into short blond silky hair. Mia also gets a fancy manicure. Her grandmother teaches her how to deal with the press, too. The big dance comes up and by that time everyone knows that Mia is a princess. Josh Richter, the coolest and most handsome guy in school, asks her to the dance. When they go together Mia finds out that he only wanted to go out with her because she was a princess, not because of whom she really was. Mia figures out that Josh was a big jerk. In the end, Mia finds that being a princess is not really that bad.
Rating: Summary: Super cute, funny, incredible, and all in all WONDERFUL!!! Review: Normally I find books written in diary-format to be kind of boring but TPD was just fabulous beyond words. It was like reading a note from a best friend only a really, really long note. Nevertheless, when reading this, you can actually feel Mia's feelings. You want to laugh when she panics, cry when something goes horribly wrong, and encourage her to be assertive like her best friend Lilly does. Her day-after-day accounts keep getting more complicated yet more enjoying to read and want to know what will happen the next day!
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: Typical story: girl finds out she is a princess and hates it. Wait back up there, how many stories talk about girls hating being a princess? In this story Mia is appalled by her princessness and has to deal with it and all that comes with it; press following her around, friends hating her, and princess lessons from her grandmother! If you have seen the movie but have not read the book, you're in for a BIG surprise. The book is very different form the movie and much better! One of my favorite books!
Rating: Summary: Cute! Review: I was really expecting this book to be another silly, boring diary-format book...but I was VERY happily surprised. Meg Cabot has an amazing talent and she jumps inside Mia's head like no one else could. I highly recommend it...you might think you're too old, or that it won't be challenging or intellectual enough for you (because I think that sometimes) but I enjoyed this a lot. Very cute, very funny, and very uplifting!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I found this book in the bookstore before the movie was released and I was totally amazed when it came to theaters. The book is actually Mia's diary, unlike the movie. But, I really enjoyed the book and I have read all the sequels, I would recommend this book to anyone who saw and enjoyed the movie or even if they didn't!
Rating: Summary: pretty good Review: While not at all true to the movie, i thought this book was delightful. I read it in one night and couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud several times. This is the story of a girl who goes from being a nobody to a somebody, a cute coming-of-age story that i think anyone would enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Cute and Quick Princess Book. Review: After having seen the movie a few times, I needed something to give me a good pick me up after a bad week. This book has is a good laugh at times. There are major differences between the movie and the book, but I felt that at times the movie was more better then the book. Mia is 15 and feel like she is a nobody in this world, her and friend Lily live there lives normally, but Mia wants to fit in with the some of the popular people. As she realizes that it isn't going to happen. Then along comes her Grandmere and father to tell Mia something that will change her life forever and she will never just be plain old Mia. Overall this book was wonderful, I found it focused more on her life then it did with her being a Princess, but I suppose there will be more about her being a Princess in the upcoming books.
Rating: Summary: So much better than the movie! Review: I bought this book because the plot looked good-I was so right! I couldn't put this book down. It wasn't just any teen book, it was great! The Princess Diaries was very funny and I reccomend it to everyone. Read Princess In the Spotlight next. I can't wait for Princess in Love!
