Rating: Summary: A Princess, but not yet there!!! Review: Mia Thermopolis is a totally normal girl in Greenwhich, New York untill her dad shows up, and tells her she is a princess. She couldn't belive it. "No one like me can be a princess!" She always thought her dad was a political man and lived in Genovia. But he has been the prince. After a while, her grandmother, who she does not like that much comes and wants to change her life. From a normal person's life to a princesses life. Mia has other problems to face, too. Her mother is dating her algebra teacher the subject she is failing. Eventually her best friend and herself end up in a big fight. I really recommend this book. If you are up to some humorous hours with a pretty normal girl that turns out to be a princess read this book.
Rating: Summary: Life, love, and embarassment ... it's all here Review: Mia has a lot of things on her mind at the moment. Mia has just found out that her father is the Prince of Genovia - which explains a lot of things that have happened over the years. Because he can't have anymore children, Mia is now the heir to the throne. Now Mia has to deal with school and princess lessons from her dreaded grandmere. The only silver lining is that her dream boy is finally paying attention to her. I have just re-read the first and second books in this series as I will be getting the third book soon and wanted to refresh my memory of the books. I loved the first book, but the second book is lacking the special spark that the first book had. Mia is a strong character you can really connect with. Her world is real and she shows the true way that most people would react to being told they are a princess - flipping out. This book is laced with humour and had me cracking up on a regular basis. My favourite part is where the two bodyguards argue over which gun is better - a 345 magnum or a glock (I was with Lars on this one). No teen novel is complete without the beautiful popular girl who makes the main characters life miserable (aptly played by Lana), the cute big brother (Michael), the always there for you bestfriend (Lilly), and teh guy that doesn't even know she is alive (Josh) - take them all together, stir well and you have this great book. If you have missed Mia and her life, then you have missed one of the best series for young adults of the past few years.
Rating: Summary: A ROCKIN' BOOK!!... Review: This high school girl is about to find herself in for a really big surprise. Mia Thermopolis is pretty sure her life could never get any worse. But Mia's luck isn't very good. Her mom first announces she is dating Mia's algebra teacher and what's worse, it's the class she's flunking! Then her dad shows up and reavels something. Before her dad revealed this secret Mia was practically invisible. Guess what, now she is not! Meg Cabot's writing draws you in. Once you pick one of her books up you can't put it down. I would give this book an eight if I had to rate it one to ten, ten being the best. The reason why I don't give it a ten is because it has some stereotypes. For instance, all princesses have blond hair and that is a kind for stereotype. Any reader would like this book. It is happy, funny and much more. So I think I would recommend that a child fewer than 10 should not read this book. As I have said this book has many moods, you could not possibly name just one. That's why it is such a good book and it's exciting! The reason why I think you should read this book is because it teaches you lessons and at the same time you're having fun reading! It has drama and romance and soon enough you forget what your plans were for the day, all you want to do is read and feel the emotion of this book laughing or crying. The way THE PRINCESS DIARIES is written is in diary form but at some points in the book there are e-mails. Mia doesn't have very many friends but she has one friend who will always be by Mia's side and that is Mia's best friend, Lily. I think Meg Cabot is trying to send a message (maybe even two). I think she is trying to say do not judge a person quickly because that person might not be in the popular group but that person might be really nice and, hey, that girl or boy maybe a prince or princess. Other books by Meg Cabot: PRINCESS IN THE SPOTLIGHT and many more. READ THE PRINCESS DIARIES! ...
Rating: Summary: finally! Review: It is nice to actually read a teen book that is actually a light and enjoyable read, not insanely frivolous. I actually picked it up for my sister who is obsessed with the movie (bought the DVD right after it came out and has watched it at least 20 times since). I thought it looked cute so started reading. Read the whole thing in a night. It is pretty different from the book, but, of course, much more enjoyable. There is so much more behind the book. Everybody is bound to love all the characters. It was one of the first times I actually cracked up laughing while reading a book since Bridget Jones Diary, which I would recommend to any one older that liked this book. Well, the colorful characters were great, like the body guards who argued over their weapons and Boris the musical genius who stays in a closet. And of course, you have Michael. In the movie, he was a bit different, but I liked him much much more in the book. Overall, highly recommended to anyone who wants a good laugh and light read. I would recommend it to anyone above 12. It is NOT just a little girls book. Mia really is a fourteen year old and is written at that level. It is not written as a 14 year old to like 7 year olds. But in any case, great book. Can't wait to read the next one to see how it turns out!
Rating: Summary: The Princess Diaries Review: Ever had one of those books you couldn't put down? Well this was one of them. Ever since I started it, I just read, and read, and read. And I don't really read that much!!!!!! All I can say is that if you want to read a novel about a princess-(I'm not talking about the princess and the pea) then this is THE one!!! I would give it 5 out of 5 stars in a spilt second. This book rocked!!!
Rating: Summary: Princess Diares Review: Mia's life was normal. She was an a average girl, 5 feet 9 inches in height and still waiting for appropriate body parts to arrive. But that all changed when her Grandmother came to town. Her Grandmother comes with the startling news that Mia is princess of Genovia. Will Mia like the news? If she accepts the role of princess, she'll have to change her life. Between princess lessons and dealing with the press, her life will never be the same. Also Mia deals with the normal life and society of a teenager with her best friend Lilly, Lilly's brother Michael and the guy she's had her eye on for a while. Will being a princess change Mia's life for the better or for the worse?
Rating: Summary: wow! Review: i was recomended this book by a friend that i made at waldens and i suspected that it might be a little corny because they made a disney movie out of it. (i am not dissing disney) but i was wrong it was so good. i love how jenny carrol( pen name: meg cabot) was so good at making it actually sound like a 14 yr. old girl,i am 14 and that is exactly how we think. in this book mia is a very unpopular freshman and is teased relentlesly by her arch enemy lana. when one day her dad comes home to talk to her about him being sterile and not being able to have any more kids. she didnt know why he is telling her this at first then he dumps a bomb on her, after earlier that day her mom mentions she has a date with her math teacher, the only class she is flunking. she hates what he has told her and is very distraught and mad at him for not telling her sooner. she trys to keep it a secret from all her friends and especially lana. but her grandma, who she has to see every day after school for certain reasons tells the world. and then this sends her into a huge problem but it gets better when josh the hottest guy at school asks her to the coltural diversity dance, she goes has a [junky] time finds out that actually her heart is set on micheal her best friend senior brother and in the end it pretty much all turns out o.k.
Rating: Summary: BETTER THAN THE MOVIE! Review: If you thought you loved the movie Princess Diaries, then think again. This book is the beginning of the movie. If you haven't seen the movie then I will tell you that this is about a girl called Mia. She is one of the "unpopular" girls and dreams of becoming popular. She has the same troubles as many normal girls, worried about her looks, flunking Algebra... and falling in love with the most popular guy in school, Josh Richter. During freshman year, Mia finds out that her mom is dating her Algebra teacher, because her mom and dad are divorced, and she just has to date the teacher in the one subject she hates. She also finds, that, she is the daughter of the prince of Genovia. Amazingly she has to fight through the challenges of fighting through high school, and training to be a princess. Read this book if you like books about girls stuggling through popularity, and finding out what the side of royalty is all about.
Rating: Summary: Much Better than the Movie Review: While the Disney movie was nice and all, it really didn't do the book justice. The book is much, much funnier, and not so Disneyfied--Mia's father has testicular cancer and never married her mother--can't have THAT in a Disney movie. I really identified with Mia (not the princess thing, but remembering my teenage years). Meg Cabot does a wonderful job in finding the humor and agonies in being a teenager. Very good read, as well as the following two books--Princess in the Spotlight and Princess in Love.
Rating: Summary: Princess Diaries Review: Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries is my favorite book right now. It's so much better than the movie (quite an understatement). If you liked the movie, you'll absolutely love this book. It's written in diary form, and like she's talking to you. It's hard to put down. I finished it in 3 days (I had to go to school. Sob...sob.). I can totally relate to Mia, not that I'm a princess or anything, but she's just so normal and real.
