Rating: Summary: Princess Diaries Review: Princess Diaries Written by Meg CabotThe Princess Diaries is a great book written by Meg Cabot. The main character in this book is Mia Thermopolis and the book is written as her diary. In this book, Mia describes herself as a "five-foot nine, flat-chested freshman, who also happens to be flunking algebra. Mia's only friends are Lilly and Fat Louie, her cat who has swallowed a sock. Mia thinks that nothing in her life could be any worse, but boy is she wrong! First, her father comes into town and practically changes her whole life by telling her she is a PRINCESS! Mia finds out that now that she is a princess she will be attending princess lessons with her Grandmere. In addition to the fact that Mia is going to have to become used to being a princess, Mia's mom announces that she is going on a date with Mia's algebra teacher, Mr.Gianini! As if this is not enough for Mia to deal with, Mia and Lilly have a fight. Now that Lilly is no longer Mia's best friend, Mia makes a new friend, Tina. The word has been leaked to the newspapers that Mia is a princess, and Lars, who is her driver, becomes her bodyguard. After all this, one thing does seem to be going better in her life. Josh Richter, the hottest guy in school, asks Mia to the Cultural Diversity Dance. However, even her date does not work out. When the time comes to go to the dance, Mia finds out that Josh is a fake! He asked her to the dance so he could kiss a princess in front of the media. After all Mia's troubles, she and Lilly make up because they miss each other. Now that they are back to they're old tricks like throwing fruit out of the window and having fun together. Mia decides that even though she doesn't want to be a princess, it's not as bad as she thought it would be. I think this is a great book. Having a bad day? Just read about Mia, who can't even brush her frizz-ball hair, for a great laugh! I would recommend this book to just about everyone. I say this because I know that everyone has felt sad at one time or another and the Princess Diaries is a great way to cheer up. I can't wait to read the next two books about Mia that Meg Cabot has written. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. It really shows how important it is to like people for the way they are and not for what they are!
Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: If you want a book that will keep you laughing and reading, this is the book you want!!!This is probably one of the best books I have ever read!!!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books I have ever read Review: I saw the movie and thought I HAD to get this book. I read a bunch of different books from The Chronicals of Narnia to the Nancy Drew Mysteries while I never read books for teenage girls that are good. I got this book for a 10 hr. trip to have something to do even though I cannot read and ride at the same time I finished the book 3 days after I got it. This book was full of humor and reality. The main Character Mia thinks there is nothing worse than being a five foot nine flat chested freshman with a size ten shoe ( I can relate to being tall I am five foot six at thirteen with a size ten shoe) Mia is somebody you can relate to. Well her plan to be invisible except to Josh Richter ( The guy of her dreams) shatters when her Mom says she is dating Mia's Algebra teacher. and her dad comes to town and announces Mia is Princess of Genovia. While her best friend Lilly with a cable show Lilly Tells it like it is gets mad when Mia has to ditch her to go to Princess Lessons with her judgemental can keep a cigarette out of her hands Grandmother comes to giving Mia a total Makeover and starts looking like Lana (bratty popular rich girl currently dating Josh Richter) Who ends up having problems with Josh when Mia becomes the most popular girl in school when her picture ends up on the post. Then Josh asks Mia to the Dance and at dinner ends up getting drunk and embarrasses Mia then at the dance Mia starts dancing with Michael ( Lilly's older brother) and then Mia and Lilly Become friends agaisn and the book just ends. I hope I dind't give away to much. Now I am going to buy book 2 and book 3 All I can say is go buy the book.
Rating: Summary: The Princess Diaries-A Review Review: This book is a very good one. It is very different from the movie, so if you seen the movie let me tell you it won't be the same.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK! Review: I couldn't put this book down! It was like some force of great story-telling made me keep on reading. I'm exactly like Mia, and I had the greatest time reading about her triumphs and failures. I suggest anyone who hasn't seen the movie to read the book first. It is the exact opposite if the movie, and I couldn't shake the Anne Hathaway picture of Mia out of my head... READ IT!
Rating: Summary: Not The Best Review: Okay this book was good, but not as intriquing as 1&2. Meg could have done better. Its all about Mia wanting to break up with her boyfriend Kenny,(Which she finally does) to get with her best friends big brother. It ends like the movie, Mia gets Micheal, and leaves for Genovia. I give it 4 stars just for being cheasy like the movie.
Rating: Summary: Mia's no princess. Review: This book is really cool as it addresses young teenagers in a fun, carefree way. I haven't read the book but listened to the tape by Chivers audio books about a million times and think its so amazing. Gee.
Rating: Summary: Parents beware. Review: There are good things and bad things about this book. Let's be positive and talk about the good things first. It's funny, it's written well (meaning that the dialog is truly that of a teen), it has a fairy tale-ish ending, it contains a strong anti-drug message and includes colorful characters. Now, the bad part. It has the strongest leftist message I've ever seen in any book. Talk about politically incorrect! This is a 'bash and lash' republicans and anyone who practices "organized religion" (as it's literally referred to) book. While it sends a message against having pre-marital sex, it's a very weak one. Sadly however, there are indeed teens that are having sex. The book addresses the real side of teen thoughts on sex which, in a sense, is a good thing... I guess. It boils down to this; the sex could've been addressed in a more mature way, the bash and lash should never have made it to print, and the leftist principles should have been less offensive. I give the book 2 stars. One star for the humorous writing and one star for the anti-drug message. It deserves no more.
