Summary: I WOULD RATE THIS 1,000,000 STARS IF I COULD!
Review: This was the best book (Besides Princess in the Spotlight) I have read! It was hilarious, as well as being a fun book to read, and I could barely put it down!!!

Summary: Only 4 Girls
Review: When a friend told me about this book I thought it was worth a try so I went and got it. When I started, I couldn't put it down!!! It's about Mia Thermopolis' life as a "five-foot-nine, flat-chested freshman" and above all that, she just happens to be flunking Algebra.(Note: DO NOT expect this book to be exactly like the movie, because it's NOT.) Mia is pretty sure that there is no one as unlucky as she is. For instance, Mia's mother, Helen, starts dating Mia's Algebra teacher, Mr. Gianini, and then Mia's father shows up and says that he is the prince of Genovia! Mia is pretty sure that absolutely nothing can get worse than that, until her father anounces that Mia has to be the princess of Genovia and her grandmother is coming to give her princess lessons!!!
I thought it was a very, very good book and I encourage you to read it.

Summary: lovely book
Review: this book is just sooooo good! I think a lot of teen girls can relate to things in the book. I think it portrays the typical environment or high school very well. The book is well written and fun to read! I think the first book (this) is the best in the whole series. If you thought the movie wasn't good, you have to read this beacause it is a whole lot better!

Summary: Fun Trilogy
Review: I actually bought these for my cousin, but then was forced to read them when her mom expressed some concerns over content. I've read the entire trilogy and found it funny and sometimes painful; how many people want to remember the most akward times in their lives? While reading these books, I know I was reminded of mine!

Don't be fooled, there are some mature themes in these books. But nothing that any 14-16 hasn't already heard about from friends or seen in the movies.

Still, the book was a fun, quick, and easy read.

Summary: Good for Teen Girls
Review: ... Normally, I stay away from frivolous adolescent novels where the main character's only problem is boys, but this one is more than that.
Everyone probably knows by now that the focus of this novel is on a New York girl, Mia, who finds out that she's a...
Mia's best friend is a character I can relate to. She's even further from the stereotypical teenage girl. The movie, I thought, glamorized Mia's situation.
Another plus is that the Princess Diaries is hilarious! I don't often find myself laughing out loud in the middle of a novel.
Those of you who are skeptics should try this book anyway because it's very short too.

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: Mia Thermopolis is your normal, everyday girl. Until her father shows up and tells her that he is the prince of Genovia. Which makes Mia the crown princess! She decides to stay in New York City until she is ready for the throne. But she has to take princess lessons from her grandmother every day after school. This would be fine if her grandmother was a kind old lady, but this grandmother is a chain smoker who drinks Sidecars and has tattooed eyeliner. Grandmere also has a tendency to harbor unkind feelings toward Mia (that means she hates Mia). Mia manages to keep being a princess a secret, but Grandmere calls the newspapers and tells them about Mia. Suddenly there are news reporters hanging around Mia's school, and Mia's best friend Lilly decides not to talk to Mia anymore. And in the midst of all that, Mia is is love.

This was a hilarious book. It sounds very impossible, like it would never even happen, but somehow Meg Cabot managed to make it seem real. Mia is a really funny character, and her best friend Lilly was great. She was always trying to analyze Mia, and make predictions about things. This book is told in diary form like Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, but it is a thousand times better. Mia does grumble about things a bit, but she is much more cheerful and much funnier than Georgia. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a cute, but not-so-shallow novel. Ages 12-14 for a little bit of questionable content. This is nothing like the movie, but it is funny.

Summary: SO HILARIOUS!
Review: I just got this book yesterday, and I've just finished it in one day. It it so hilarious! Just my style. I LOVED it. I had watched The Princess Diaries movie, and I TOTALLY LOVE the book a zillion times better. (Not that the movie wasn't good either.) Such a good book. I can't wait to read the next books.

Summary: Wonderful!!!
Review: I bought this book at our school's book fair after I had seen the movie. I thought that the movie was pretty good, and I was interested in reading the book, so I got it. I didn't put the book down until the evening that I bought it which is when I finished it. This is an excellent book! I recommend it to anyone 12 or older. It has some subject matter which didn't bother me, but it would bother younger people. The book is well-written and very funny. It is about Mia, your average geeky teenager. She only wants one thing out of life: to be invisible. First, her Mom informs Mia that she's dating Mr. Gianini, Mia's Algebra teacher. Then she finds out that she's the heir to throne of Genovia. The book is about her trying to hide the fact that she really is a princess, and when everyone does find out, it turns into how Mia survives fame. This is a great book! Don't forget to check out the second and third books in The Princess Diaries series!

Summary: Much better than the movie
Review: This book tells the story of Mia Thermopolis, a fourteen-year-old high school freshman who has just gotten the shock of her life. Prior to the whole ordeal, we learn that Mia is just your average teen, suffering from having a "flat chest", being five foot nine, having frizzy hair, and failing algebra. Mia's best friend is Lilly, who is a genius, and to top it all off, Mia is in love with Lilly's older brother, Michael. To say it simply, she faces the same problems as many other teens encounter themselves. She lives with her single mother in New York City (in an old firehouse), and her father lives in Genovia, which is a fictional nation located somewhere in Europe. One day, Mia's grandmother comes down from Genovia (which seems odd considering that she hasn't talked to Mia in years), to tell her that she is the heir to the Genovian throne. Mia's father has cancer, and isn't able to have any more children, so Mia is the natural heir, even though her mother and father never actually married. After that, Mia must learn to cope with her new role, while still surviving high school. The outcome produces an often hilarious, yet very sweet story that anyone could enjoy.

I think the reason that so many people enjoyed this book (and because I loved this book so much) is because the main character, Mia, is so real! In no way is this book stereotypical. Instead, Meg Cabot writes as though Mia were a real person, although faced with unique situations (being a Princess, of course!). I especially liked that this book was exactly as it's titled - a diary. Meaning that, not only were her thoughts and feelings expressed in a journal-style, but there were also little notes to herself, to-do lists, and homework assignments included, which I thought were a cute little addition. I really enjoyed this book and went on to read the next two in the series and would definitely recommend it to just about anyone. Especially to the teens that have always wanted to know what being a Princess is all about! As for the movie, if you've already seen it first (like I did) I would recommend reading the book, because I thought it was a lot better than the movie. You get to know Mia's personality better, plus there are a few big changes that the movie decides to make.

Summary: Guilty favorite
Review: I am a grown woman, and this book made me laugh more than any book has for years. There is perhaps no shame in that; but it does prove that this book has an appeal far beyond its "intended" audience. Also, it beats the Disney movie hollow- (Though watching Julie Andrews again was a real treat.)-since its treatment of the princess fable is much more realistic, gritty, and grounded in Mia's adolescent, cogent prose. Watch out for some hilarious dialogue.
