Rating: Summary: The only video that actually works Review: I've tried many work out videos and found that none of them give results like this one. I did Calanetics twice a week for five weeks and lost an inch or so off my waist line each week. This truely is worth your time.
Rating: Summary: (almost) INSTANT RESULTS! Review: I bought this video YEARS ago. I couldn't believe how difficult the moves actually were compared to how easy they looked on video. But IT'S WORTH IT! THe only problem I have with the video is that it doesn't get me out of bed and drag me to the front of the tv to actually do it, but when I do, I feel great!
Rating: Summary: Love this exercise tape. Review: I have been using this exercise tape for years, and enjoy it immensely. The best part is the motivation Callen gives just when you need it most, and she also keeps the exercise different.
Rating: Summary: no jumping Review: I like this tape a lot because I don't have to jump around my living room. Yes, folks have said it's borring and that you need a ballet studio at home, but it works. The instructor shows you how to do the movements with the furniture you already have and encourages you to work at your own pace. The people on that tape are real (no hard bodies) and you're not going to kill yourself trying doing this tape. When I'm done I'm not tired, my back doesn't hurt and I feel great. Pretty cheezy tape, but very efective.
Rating: Summary: delighted Review: I purchased the callanetics tape based on the great reviews. I'm so delighted in the results, including relief from back pain. I'm 5'10 my posture is long and lean. After 10 years of being out of shape it's such a relief to look forward to exercising without sweaty jerky workkouts. You see results immediately and feel motivated to continue.
Rating: Summary: Very pleased user..i think everyone should own a copy Review: this video is great... although they use a ballet barre.. you dont need one.. and besides.. how many people have one in their homes anyway... i used a chair.. and it worked just fine... the before and after photos in the video really motivated me to continue.. yes it was hard at first but after you learn correct techniques.. it will be no problem... what i really liked was the counter in the bottom corner of the TV screen..it makes everything much easier and you dont have to count to 40, 50, or even 100.i am looking forward to "Super Callanetics".. i rented the quick callanetics from my local video store... and i found out they are the EXACT SAME workout that is on the original "callanetics" video... please dont waste money on the 3 in the "quick series" just fast foward the original tape to the sections you would like the work on... also.. these exercises really make the cellulite that so many women have a problem with "DISAPPEAR".. i am speaking from my personal experiences...if you dont believe me .. get the tape and look the before and after pictures.. the students in the video range from ages 18- to callan's 70-something mother... there are men as well as women of ALL different body shapes and sizes..buy the tape... after about 20 hours.. (actually the workouts are only 40-45 minutes in length) you will be glad you did!
Rating: Summary: Ballet Equipment Needed Review: I read all the information available on this video, but not until I had purchased it and played it did I realize you need a ballet studio in your home. A ballet bar is needed, and an adjustable one at that. I believe the moves (if done correctly, which could be a problem too) would benefit the person exercising, but you won't have Ms. Pinckney in your home to correct your mistakes like she does almost all of the people in the video with her.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I cannot believe the changes to my body in just 3 work outs. It is simply amazing. Not only do I feel smoother and tight already, it's very relaxing. I enjoy this immensely and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to tone without going through alot of bouncy, injury prone steps. I cannot say enough good things about it.
Rating: Summary: Why don't all gyms teach this? Review: I have owned the book and video for a long time now. I have gone away from it to try other things but I always go back to Callanetics. I really can't understand why any professional instructor or trainer would teach anything else (especially not STEP CLASSES) When there are exercises such as these available which, in my opinion, are in a class by themselves. Learning Callanetics is like learning a craft, the movements are small, precise and to be honest, difficult to master. But unlike most other "popular" exercise programs, the results are DRAMATIC.
Rating: Summary: Mixed Results Review: Callantetics is quite good at working several muscle groups, in a manner that is fairly easy on knees, back, and other trouble-prone joints. There is no jolting or jerking or flailing in any of these moves. However, I found after a while I became quite bored with this workout. Many of the moves depend on high (100 or so) repetitions of a move, which I found quite dull. After a while, the novelty of doing 50 of the same set wore off. Also, I felt there was some misplaced emphasis on fitting an "ideal" body type, which I found a bit annoying. The video puts up an image of a woman's legs holding pennies in three pennies at the thighs, knees, and calves, with the idea of this being "perfect". This is a bit silly when you think about it, and isn't realistic or even really healthy. This is also a video tape that's been around for a better part of a decade; don't expect trendy outfits, moves, music, or atmosphere. However, if you are looking for a workout that isn't fast-paced, and is gentle on joints, and don't mind high repetitions of the same movement, this isn't a bad workout by any means.
