Rating: Summary: got boring Review: I used this video a couple times, but not enough to see results. The exercises are harder than they look, but what gets to me most is how Callan Pinkney talks and talks like she knows everything. What's funny is that she likes to correct people that are doing the moves wrong, supposedly. Another viewer mentioned how she liked to contradict herself, which I found to be true. She'll tell one of her students, "don't do it like this..." but in her super callanetics video her student does it and she doesn't say anything. I agree with another viewer that said "she likes to hear herself talk", and I also agree with another about the ab exercise which I can't even do because it hurts my neck also. Personally, I think it IS bad for your neck. I suppose this video is good for someone with an injury. Yes, it is 80ish and ballerina-ish. But after I while I got tired of hearing her talk and take forever to explain stuff. Want a no-nonsense video? Look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Callan Pickney's Callanetics is wonderful! Review: I love this video. I recommend it to anyone who wants to loses inches, become more flexible, and feel healthier without sweating and jumping around. I was amazed at how effective callanetics is. You can literally feel what muscels have been worked after your workout, ( my legs were shaking after my first one!) I feel leaner and walk straighter now. The best part about this video is that you only have to do it 2 times a week to see results. I have worked the twenty minute videos around the basic callanetics. Please try it, you will not regret it!
Rating: Summary: Good, bad and ugly Review: Good: it is non-impact so if you are like me who don't like to jump around to get into shape, you will like this tape. Some of the exercises are very effective and challenging. Also good for people who are coming out of illness since there is no impact on joints.Bad: Neck, neck, neck! When I do ab workout, I don't know how to round my head towards chest without straining my neck...can somebody tell me? This is quite a pain. Ugly: BORING.....doing those subtle, small (1/2-1/4 inch) moves for 100 times is not easy as you might think. After doing Callanetics religious for a whole month, I got so bored of this tape. And there is no cardio workout in this routine. So? use this as a supplement to your regular cardio workout. Pulling your muscles internally is different than losing those extra fat. This will not move your bathroom scale, but measuring tapes.
Rating: Summary: Not good Review: Lots of complicated stretching in awkward positions, neck strain and instructions that don't seem to make much sense other than to the instructor. Have not yet found a video better than the terribly cheesy but effective "Buns of Steel" (the original, with Greg Smithey).
Rating: Summary: It works Review: I have done this workout in years past and found it to be a wonderful way to shape up whatever body you have. If you want to lose pounds, look elsewhere...this is not an aerobic workout, but it will definitely shape your butt up!
Rating: Summary: Trimmer and trimmer Review: I've had the Callanetics video for years. At one time I used it intensely, then I could perform the exercises without the tape. Then I stopped - more fool me! Just found it again and, having ordered Super Callanetics am moved to review the original. Don't expect dramatic weight loss from Callanetics. That's not what it's for! But it'll make whatever you've got look better, and will double the aesthetic effect of your weight loss programme. For perfection, combine Callanetics with an aerobic workout, a long walk, and yoga... on different days! The pelvic rotations exercise is soooooo sexy!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Review: I've done all the fast-pased workouts. I would do them religiously for months, only to feel tired and sore afterwards with absolutely no results. A friend of mine suggested this tape to me. I bought it and it sat on a shelf for 3 months, I can't believe I wasted that much time not doing this tape! The first time I tried it I was amazed that I didn't have to jump around and sweat like mad! The exercises were relaxing but hard. I've only done the workout three times and I can see the results especially in my stomach and legs. I stand straighter, my arms are tight, I can't believe it! I finish the workout and I want to do it again a few hours later. I'm buying this one for my mom who always compains about her body(she's 55). She's going to love this. Forget the other reviews that talk about Callan's wafe-like appearance, come on we all remember the 80's. Turn down the volume once you've learned the movements and listen to some of your favorite music. This is a FABULOUS tape, I plan on buying a couple for when this one wears out. I wish they would put this out on DVD!
Rating: Summary: Great Toning Review: This tape is great for abs and legs, although there isn't much of an upper body workout. Very intense, small exercises that really work. No cardio here.
Rating: Summary: Miracle tape for toning and stretching! Review: I tried Callanetics back in college with a friend who had the tape from the 80's. It didn't take long to fit into the jeans I used to wear. I've looked for the tape since then, and when I came across it with Amazon, I was so excited. This is a great tape for toning, but it also really helps my bad back and neck to stretch. I have slept better and woken up without all the knots in my back since I started the tape. I definitely recommend it!
Rating: Summary: I LOVE Callanetics! Review: I'm one of those people who HATES to exercise, but I just LOVE Callanetics. I remember my Mom doing this video when I was younger and I just rediscovered it last week. After doing the ruitine 5 consecutive days, I've almost got a washboard stomach! That's my easiest area, but even my "trouble spots" are shaping up - I've lost 1/4" off my hips and thighs in under a week. That's pretty amazing for me, because nothing else was working and I've tried everything (including Body Flex). But I think THE most important thing is that I actually ENJOY this workout. I mean - I LOVE it! It is so relaxing and invigorating. I can't wait to come home and do Callanetics. Sure, there are some parts that are tough, tough, tough - but it goes so quickly and pretty soon you are doing a blissful back stretch - Ahhhhhhhhhh ... Try it!
