Rating: Summary: Perfect...when combined with other sports. Review: These exercises are so effective that I did them WAY beyond the recommended 2 times a week for the first couple of years. Unfortunately, I got so burned out mentally that I ended up shelving this tape for quite a while. During that time I took up Pilates, Yoga, light weights, cardio machines, you name it. I enjoyed them all, but never really got the same kind of results from them. Recently, I rediscovered ballet (my first love), but I still had the sneaking feeling that something was missing. Well, last night I finally broke down and tried this tape first the first time in 3 years. Ooohh honey, I am burning in muscles I forgot I even had! Not only can I feel it in my arms, chest and stomach, but in my legs and behind, as well...and I dance on a regular basis! Seriously, I would recommend this tape to any woman who wants a sense of control over her figure. Just don't go overboard like I did in the beginning. Do it 2 (or maybe 3) times a week and combine it with other activities you enjoy. Believe me, this is one program you'll WANT to stay interested in for the rest of your life.
Rating: Summary: Excellent - feel it working! Review: I have only tried it a couple of times so far and despite the distinctly 80`s feel, which is strangely comforting, I find the exercises amazingly effective yet without the strain that other high impact videos provide. I am combining this into my usual fitness regime going forward!
Rating: Summary: Callanetics; Not just a fad Review: Want to wear SMALLER clothes FAST? For the last 25 years I have used the Callanetics workout to keep me looking sleek, feeling sexy, strong and healthy. Use this program and you WILL experience and see results FAST! Currently, Pilates is the rave. The Pilates EQUIPMENT, combined with a trainer are excellent. Pilates floor exercises feel like a deviation from Yoga, but mostly a new way to package a program which doesn't match up to Callanetics. If you have not exercised for a while, start with Beginning Callanetics. Super Callanetics is VERY challenging and still beyond my abilities. Honor yourself. Take time and attention to learning the proper position for each exercise. The movements are slow and work the deep muscles, which give you that great pull in in such a short time. Here's to your health and well being!
Rating: Summary: not what it seems.... Review: This video looks boring and is outdated. I won't argue with that. But what I want in an exercise program is something that works. And callanatics works! If you do the exercises correctly (give yourself time to learn and SLOWLY push your limits!!), you will find that this is the most effective regime you will encounter. And this comes from someone who used to spend 2 hours in the gym every day looking for results only callanatics has been able to provide. If you don't see results soon, you're doing something wrong. In that case the beginning video might help or (ideally) take a few lessons at a callanetics center. To sum up: there are a lot of videos out there that are more pleasing to the eye, but this one gives results fast. And that is all I want.
Rating: Summary: These will help you strengthen and stretch Review: I just received this tape last week and have done the workout 3 times now. I already have been trying to watch what I eat and do the Leslie Sansone Walk away the pounds with weighted balls tapes. Just yesterday my boyfriend said my legs look like they are more toned, but I am not sure if it is completely from this tape or a combination of all that I am doing. There are some exercises on this tape that will DEFINITELY help you gain strength in your legs. I also believe that this will help you improve your flexibility because of all of the stretching exercises included in this. I do recommend keeping your vcr remote close by so that you can fast forward through several descriptions and pictures after you understand how to complete the exercise. But if you are looking for a strengthening and stretching tape to add to your exercise regimen I recommend Callanetics.
Rating: Summary: I just bought the rest of her videos!! Review: I have had this video for 3 or 4 years. I refused to do it because it looked BORING! The clothes and music were WAY outdated and I was just sure all of these people were OLD![.]I do not have back trouble or any reason to feel like I needed this workout. Recently I decided I was TOOOO lazy to do any excersise that required me to get real active, so I tried the tape. I felt like I had just had a deep massage after finishing, and I thought I would try it for two weeks to see if I got any of the promised results. It's been 17 days I've done 10 sessions and have lost 8 pounds, gone from a 12 to a loose nine and everyone notices I look A LOT skinnier. I haven't lost a lot of weight but "stuff" has really move around. I look much skinnier than my 142 pounds. I WAY RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM![.]
Rating: Summary: Great lower back workout Review: As a nurse, me & a lot of co-workers suffer with lower back ache. I own THREE of these tapes! One I keep, and 2 I loan to others for short periods of time. I'm seriously considering getting a 4th copy since my sister won't return hers. I first viewed this tape at my wife's grandmothers house, she uses it a lot. So its safe for any age group. No jumping around, Just serious 'deep muscle' workout.
Rating: Summary: Excellent toning/strengthening for trouble spots Review: -This 60-minute tape targets specific trouble spots (abs, upper legs and glutes, triceps) without weights. The exercises are truly unique. You position your whole body exactly as the teacher demonstrates, relax all the muscles except the specific ones you will be working, and then proceed with MANY repetitions of tiny, precise movements. -Results: I am already in pretty good shape from weights and aerobics videos, but these exercises are still very challenging, and they work the muscles differently from other workouts. -This workout is a great addition to a well-rounded exercise plan, but it is not a complete substitute for cardio work or weight training. -Equipment: You need a mat and something sturdy to hold onto, to substitute for the ballet barre they use in the video (I use a sturdy stepladder). -Teacher: This tape is the opposite of a high-energy MTV-style entertainment exercise video. The teacher is like a stern librarian from an old parochial school, with a little bit of a British accent. Her instructions are clear though, and that's what is important.
Rating: Summary: Good workout for anyone who has not exercised in a while Review: This routine was fairly good. I did not stick to it because of my very busy schedule, so I started with the AM/PM version; however, you can feel the results from these exercises. It is extremely useful for stretching the back muscles and the exercises leave you feeling refreshed. The workout is worth a try.
Rating: Summary: Amazing stuff Review: A friend lent me this video, and after 2 sessions, I had to have it myself! Some of the exercises are difficult at first (for the hip exercises, your leg really does feel "nailed to the floor"), but as I got stronger, it became very easy, but I still knew I had quite a workout when I was done. And what a difference you'll see and feel! My size 13 jeans have since gone to the donation box, and I'm wearing a size 7!
