Summary: One for the Money
Review: Wonderful book! I was given it by my cousin and was leery of reading a book that wasnt usually my taste. I found the book to be fantastic and very funny, entertaining! I have now gone on to read two other books by this Author and the books just keep getting better and better.

Summary: I'm hooked!!
Review: Can't believe I just started to read this series. Consider me joining the league of Stephanie Plum's fan. This book is such a winner!! I can't believe that somebody is able to write such a fantastically hilarious book in first person point of view but this book sure proves I'm wrong. Can't wait to start reading the next book in the series (already in my bookshelf) to meet crazy Stephanie, yummy Joe Morelli, and tough-guy Ranger ...

Summary: My new favorite author!
Review: Okay, the book was sitting on my shelves for a bit just waiting for me to read. Finally I picked it up and started reading....little did I know that I wouldn't put it back down till I finished it! This isn't your usual mystery. Stephanie Plum, the main character, becomes a bounty hunter just because she is down to her last few pennies and can't live like that anymore. We follow her as she tracks down a man that has FTA (fled the area) to get some money but ends up solving a murder. The characters are hilarious and very unique. Everyone from Grandma Mazur with her blue spandex shorts to Uncle Vinnie and the "so-called" duck incident you can help yourself from laughing out loud during some parts. I would absolutely recommend you read this book and see what you are missing. You aren't a mystery reader without this one under your belt.

Summary: I've found a new crime writer!
Review: Somehow I missed Evanovich's first crime novel when it was published eight years ago, but it has been a pleasant suprise. Looking for someone to fill in to the gaps as I wait for James Lee Burke, Carl Hiaasen, and Elmore Lenoard to publish new books, I picked up "One For the Money". It was an enjoyable and exciting read. I enjoyed watching Stephanie take on chasing bail skips as a new career and trying to avoid self destructing. I look forward to following her through later novels. Stephanie is certainly a peach, wait a minute, no she is a Plum.

Summary: Sets the tone
Review: I loved this book. It sets the tone for the rest of the series. It's so funny, and full of mystery, mayhem, and sexual tension. Stephanie Plum is CRAZY, you'll love her. The secondary characters are great. Tough Ranger, sexy Joe, helpful Eddie psycho Ramirez, medling Mom, and excentric Grandma Mazur all help the exciting adventures of Stephanie Plum come together. An absolute must! This book is great any time of the year.

Summary: kitschy pulp
Review: i do not usually go for detective stories, and i do not usually go for pulp

some would argue that the stephanie plum series is not pulp... but regardless, it is funny

the detective elements of this book, are slightly predictable, as most good detective novels should be...the author does want the reader to feel slightly successful in their own sleuthing, but at the same time evanovich does leave in little surprises, to keep the reader on their toes.

contrary to other pulpish detective stuff, the characters are fairly realistic...i think we all know half of these people in the real world.

the real reason that i read this thing in one sitting, (aside from the conversational tone that is established, making it a quick and enjoyable read) is that it is funny. quite funny.
i had to stop reading, to finish laughing.
quite a good thing.
kept me hooked enough to continue in the series.

good stuff

Summary: A Real Page Turner
Review: I truly enjoyed the main character of this book, Stephanie Plum. Her cat & mouse game with Joe Morelli is also very exciting. My sister gave me this book as a book she had just read and thought I would enjoy. I read the first book in 6 hours and am now on the 4th book in just a week. These are books that you just can't put down.

Summary: Halarious and Appealing
Review: I was first introduced to the Stephanie Plum series via my mother. Though both of us grew up in New York, our family life and ideals were not far off from what the Trenton gang experience. My mother knew my penchant for mysteries, and she thought this halarious page turner would be right up my alley.

Considering that I read the book in less than three hours, rushed out to the store to buy the remaining five novels (my obsession began a month and a half before Book 7 was released in hardcover), and as of today have read the book itself four times, it's needless to say that she was correct in her assessment.

I guess you could say I'm biased, because Stephanie Plum is my idol, but there are plenty of aspects of Stephanie that can appeal to almost anyone. She's tough and street-smart, but at the same time she has a woman's vulenerability. And her cast of merry men makes this novel (and series) so funny you can help but beg for more. And again, there's a character for everyone. Joe, the playful, macho hunk; Ranger, the street-tough loner, Grandma Mazur, a woman who acts way too young for her age; Lula, the retired hooker who says whatever's on her mind; even Stephanie's parents at times remind us of our own. I didn't grow up in the "burg," hell, I don't even know many people from New Jersey, but while reading this novel I could picture these scenarios happening in my head.

I'm not going to say Janet Evanovich is the best new author to come on the scene. The Stephanie Plum series does not offer deep, meaningful insight on the world today. It's just a fun "beach read" that keeps you laughing. Janet Evanovich has an ear for dialog and action. This book is screaming to go big-screen bound. The screenwriter wouldn't even have to change much, because most of the book is dialog, anyway.

Sure, most New Yorkers can and will think of New Jersey as the waste-area of the United States. But let me tell you, for a stubborn Long Islander who thought Jersey had nothing offer, the brass, smart, and likeable Stephanie Plum is the best thing to come out of the state in a long time. In fact, (and only in my humble opinion), Stephanie Plum is the best new dectective to walk down the mean streets and let the rest of us go to sleep a little bit safer. Joe may think Stephanie gives bounty hunters a bad name, but Janet Evanovich gives comic-mystery novels a good one.

Summary: Hilarious, fun, too good to put down
Review: I started One for the Money last night and couldn't put it down until I was done. Just hilarious. I haven't laughed so much in ages and I mean laughing until I cried. If you need to have your spirits lifted, I would definitely recommend this book. Great characters, interesting setting, and a very human and halarious heroine just trying to get from day to day in a not too pleasant world.
