Summary: Worse than a Harlequin Romance
Review: It started out so well; the book seemed destined to explore the nature of healing relationships with an intriguing link to the almost magical world of the "horse whisperers." It quickly degenerated into a third-rate romance - if you find wanton adulterers romantic. I got the feeling that Tom, the horse whisperer, trained women to respond to their husbands the same way that he trained horses to respond to their riders: he "rides" both of them - a lot. The ending is too pitiful for comment.

Summary: A good book with interesting information
Review: I was intrigued with the title and got it mixed up with "The Man Who Talks to Harses." I found this book to be very riveting as well as entertaining and didn't really cry till the end. There are many life changes when a tragedy happens in a family and this one was a little more drastic but possible. It was nice to see that it didn't end up as a fairy tale which really hit home. I found this to be a very good book - one to curl up and read on a bad weather day!

Summary: The book is about simplicity.
Review: The Horse Whisperer is a well written novel showing us that life is as simple as you let it be. You can look on misfortunes that befall you and drown in sorrow or make a simple decision to live again. I think Nicholas Evans does a tremendous job in intertwining a horse's pain and maimed soul to a girl on the brink of womanhood who is also maimed physically and mentally. I also feel Evans' portrayal of the relationship between the mother, Annie Graves, and the rancher, Tom Booker, is a healing process taking place along with her daughter and the horse. Tom Booker gives them a reason to believe in themselves and to never give in to the temptation of quiiting which is an easy way out of anything you do. He shows them what dedication and hardwork can do when you lay your soul on the line for all to see and what becomes of you when you find simplicity in life's many twist's and turns.

This book shows us how healing can take place among the physically wounded as well as wounded souls trying desperately to fill a void in their lives. Again, this book shows us to deal with the simplicities in life : you can drown in your sorrows or strart afresh with what life has dealt you.

Summary: The horse whisperer is the most beautiful book I've read
Review: The horse whisperer is an inspiring tale about love being the ultimate weapon in the quest or search of the redemption and healing of our souls. I couldn't put it down!

Summary: Enjoyable. Couldn't put it down.
Review: The very first chapter got me hooked. I couldn't put it down after that. I thought it was a very well told story, and that's what it is; a story. A lot of the reviews I've read state that it was "corny" or even "boring." But if you read it for the entertainment of it, you can enjoy it. It is a fiction novel. So let it have an unexpected ending. All in all, it was a well written, sound story. The attention to detail was wonderful. Write us another Mr. Evans!

Summary: Soppy Mills & Boone
Review: It is not by any means the worst book I have read.

However, it must be near that.

I wish I had saved my money and my time.

This is in the nature of a warning to others, so that they may profit from my foolishness of having purchased and read this utterly stupid, silly, maudlin, shallow, vacuous book.

Summary: A bland, poorly written book, mediocre and dull at it's best
Review: I was very, very underwhelmed after having trudged my way through this book. The story is told in a flat and unremarkable way, the characters are unlikable and one dimensional, the plot is unrealistic-it is a story that lacks both imagination, believability, and foundation. The ending felt like a cop out. This book reads like it was written for a third grader. The publisher of this book should feel like a sucker for paying Mr. Evans such an enormous sum for such Drivel; I know I feel like a sucker for buying it and actually reading it. The only reason I didn't toss it after the first two chapters, was because I was in total disbelief that such a hyped book could actually be so awful. I felt it HAD to get better somewhere. The joke was on me.

Summary: Hogwash!
Review: Looking for a convincing portrayal of Montana life, with credible characters and riveting action? DON'T read The Horse-Whisperer -- go straight to Ivan Doig's English Creek or Dancing at the Rascal Fair. Nicholas Evans' characters are too likable; everyone's so NICE (okay, Annie's boss is a stinker, but he's way off-stage). And Evans needs an editor who will tell him that "all right" is two words, not "alright" (I don't let my freshmen get away with that) and that jumping from one character's mind to another is for better writers than he is.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The best part of the book was the beginning. I thought as I began reading, "This is going to be a good one!". However what I thought was going to be the tragedy of a spirted horse saved only by the undying love of a young girl, became a love story between a horse trainer, the whisperer, and the girl's mother. What a waste?! I am looking forward to reading, "The Man Who Listens to Horses" for a better read about the communication between "man and animal". It is based on the idea of a "horse whisperer" not a wife-stealing, son-dumping man who happens to be good with horses.

Summary: Hard to say
Review: I havn't read this book, but I will say it is either the best or worst book I have never read. I say this after reading the other reviews which tend to love or hate the book. There aren't many in between opinions. So should I read it or just wait for the movie?
