Rating: 2 stars
Summary: This book has been way overrated.
Review: I can't believe this novel has been made into a movie. I struggled and struggled to try to finish it because I didn't particularly care for the characters, who are underdeveloped. This book is trite, predictable, and made for those who read silly romance novels.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Tedious and cliched
Review: I found this book to be so appallingly written that I just wanted it to be over. The plot was formulaic and the characters horrendously stereotyped. Evans redeemed himself slightly with his descriptions of the surroundings, but it wasn't enough to save this novel. The fact that the film rights had been bought well before completion of the novel seemed glaringly obvious, and as I read it, I felt like I was trapped in a B-grade romance. I guess I have only myself to blame - I got suckered into the hype, and had high expectations. Never have my expectations come crashing back to earth with such a deafening thud. Avoid it at all costs.

Summary: Best Book I Have Ever Read
Review: I read this book when it first came out. It was the best book I have ever read.Nicholas Evans is to be applauded for his writing style and his ability to capture the reader's interest with such profound words that they stay in your mind forever. You literally cannot put the book down. I've never read a book that captivated me as this one. I have bought several copies and have given them to all of my friends. The movie did not do this book justice. This book gave me an awareness of the possibility of communication with all those creatures great and small. This book changed my life forever.

Summary: Very difficult to follow
Review: I have no idea what this book was about. It was so difficult to follow that I kept losing my concentration and had to constantly rewind the tape. I listened to the entire tape hoping it would get better. I was shocked when I learned that the book had been made into a movie. What a waste of time and money!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: "Deep" or Superficial
Review: It is very interesting to discover how different people can experience a story being told. To some it might be a silly predictable lovestory, to others a story with, another story beneath. I belong to the "others".

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: EXCELLENT!!
Review: This book is a real page turner. The author writes so vividly that you can almost see the setting in your mind. I just wish there was a happier ending!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I could't stop reading it
Review: From the first page to the end, I was in the book, I read it in one day. It was so fascinating, a real kick. The people were so alive and you could feel the pain in Annies and Graces silent in the car when they was driving to Tom Booker.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!
Review: You really get into the characters' psyches. I wouldn't have read this if it hadn't been a best seller. I usually don't like "horse stories", but this one didn't fit the usual mold. I felt so sorry for the horse! I was upset with the hang-ups of the mother and her daughter. Tom really had it together. I only wish more people could be as put together as he was. I rate most books on their ending. This one was A+!

Summary: A Horse, a Man, a Woman, a Girl
Review: Imagine the story of Black Beauty with: -A focus on healing and things unseen; -An adult drama based on a child's trama; -A story about choosing closure rather than betrayal. In a time when entertainments tend toward the VERY adolescent and sensate, this is a remarkably spiritual piece of work, a journey worth taking.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It was excellent, go out and buy it??
Review: I don't read many books, but as i have a keen interest in horses i decided to have a go at this one, and i am so glad that I did. It was one of the best books that i have read, and i can't wait until the movie comes out in my area so that i can view it.
