Rating: Summary: Very Powerful! Review: This is the first time I read a book by Nicolas Evans. I really enjoyed the story. This story shows how the power of a mom can help in many ways. The only part I didn't really enjoy was the way Evans potrayed the relationship between Annie & Tom. The rest of the book , includding the ending makes it a good read....
Rating: Summary: The horse Whisperer is a book about soul, without the heart. Review: Evans starts out the novel with a disaster that gave me nightmares for a week. As disturbing as it was, I liked it because it was real...not sugar coated. I read on and I continued to think it was a book of harsh realities and warm moments. It was a great beginning. Unfortunaltley the end left something to be desired. Evans became wrapped up in the affair that was taking place rather then keeping the story going. It fizzled out at the end. A great beginning deserves a much better ending, it almost felt as if Evans put less effort into the ending. I did not like the ending. I thought it rather ridiculous.
Rating: Summary: Some powerful scenes, but often self-consciously "romantic" Review: The horrific wreck scene (beautifully described) and fascinating character of the girl are far more interesting than the so-called "romance" of the selfish and unbelievable adult characters who take over the major portion of the story. The book seems to lack a true heart.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Review: I haven't, in a very long time loved a book this much! The characters become like family and you feel their every heart ache. The begining kind of dragged on, but we were well rewarded. I will always be able to picture a ranch in Montana, although I have never laid eyes on one. His description of everything was abosolutely fabulous. Evans has really written a book to be treasured for all times.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read. Review: This book's first chapter captured me and didn't let me go until I finished it three days later. I am amazed at some of the not-so-great reviews I read because I can't see how anyone could find something wrong with this wonderful story. This story had such underlying meanings that I guess some people just didn't pick up. Yes, this is a devastating, Bridges of Madison County type of love story and I loved it. I felt the characters yearning for each other and I struggled along with them. I was relieved when they finally gave in and I cried when they gave up. This was a beautiful love story that I really identified with. I recently saw the movie with my fiance who hadn't read the book and he was so moved by it...he absolutely loved it. The scenery and photography in the film was gorgeous. I do recommend the book over the movie...I feel that the movie doesn't give you as much as you get from the book...as usual! If you can read between the lines of this book you will experience a great lesson in love.
Rating: Summary: the greatest book I ever read Review: I think "The horse whisperer" is the best book I ever read. Some scenes were so real, that I allmost could see what was happening, the setting, the persons and everything else, Really GREAT! I hope to get some reactions from other lovers of this book.
Rating: Summary: Don't trust only reviews and movie, read it yourself NOW Review: A very touching book. It is more than a story, it asks you what is your stand against/for adultery and divorce and shows you that things are not as simple as they seem to be. Annie and Tom seem to be made for each other, but what about Grace and Annie's husband ? I say it again, don't believe in reviews, including this one, read it yourself and be deeply entertained
Rating: Summary: Could not put the book down - fantastic Review: I first read this amazing book soon after it came out and I enjoyed it so much that I read it again recently. Both times, I found it to be beautifully written and totally absorbing. I found I just could not put it down. I an a horse lover, but I feel that the story would be just as compelling and interesting a read to a non-horsey person. Quite incidentally the farrier, Robbie Richardson, who first inspired Nicholas Evans to write this book has shod my horse for many years.
Rating: Summary: The Movie is MUCH better than the book Review: I saw the movie before I read the book. I am glad that I saw the movie first because the book was so confussing at times that I just had to put it down sometimes. The starting of the book was better than half way though I just couldn't finish it. So I think the movie is very good.
Rating: Summary: It's quite a nice book except the ending. Review: I started reading this book and found out it's enjoyable and easy to understand. The author presents his characters very clearly and the story seems to flow with a good rythm. Although not so out standing,it kept me reading and letting myself go with the people in this book. Well, I'm dissappointed in the ending, though. Tom bookers doesn't need to end up like that. It's just too immediately. I like the ending in the film better. The film is really great, somehow it's even better than the book. However, great passionate love story.
