Rating: Summary: annoyingly predictable Review: I find it really hard to understand how this book ended up in all those bestseller lists. I picked it up because so many were apparently fascinated by it. What a disappointment! I guessed from the very beginning what was going to happen and it really annoyed me to find out I was right. Why all the fuss with horses and landscapes when all it leads up to is just another not very original lovestory. I'd vote for no star at all !
Rating: Summary: The Horse Whisperer is overrated. Review: The opening paragraph of the first chapter suggests a work of great depth and feeling, but after the first page, dissolves into writing that is comparable only to that of the non-dimensional Danielle Steel. As with Ms. Steel, Evans tells the reader everything rather than letting the plot and characters evolve and allowing a friendship to develop between characters and reader. Horse Whisperer is a story about paper doll people with no depth or dimension. Evans has taken what could have been an extraordinary story and has reduced it to nothing. I've heard the movie is exceptional, but do not want to waste my time and my money to see it.
Rating: Summary: This read was fascinating, especially the love story. Review: I have not read a book in quite some time. When I got my hands on this one, I simply could not put it down. I am a horse lover and have owned many, however, I found myself more involved with the romance between Annie and Tom. It moved me so much as they found true happiness with each other. I really wish the ending was different -- I wanted Annie and Tom to follow their hearts. I didn't understand why he "sacrificed" himself to the stallion. It was a tragedy much like Grace's.
Rating: Summary: A Book, I couldn't put down Review: The Horse Whisper, was a termendously good book. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of reading this book. I think of this book as a satory about a families struggle to overcome a very serious issue. I thought of this book as a little girl getrting into an accident, and a families struggle to recover from that.
Rating: Summary: It was a great book that taught me about love and heartache Review: I thought this was one of the best books I have ever read. It taught me about love, heartache and how to people can live their lives knowing that they can't be together. I wrote an essay for my 12th grade English class explaining why I liked it so much: "This book by Nicholas Evans is a book about growing up, and making life changes. The main characters, Annie and her dauighter Grace both had their lives changed dramatically. A horse accident led the mother and daughter to a a man called the horse whisperer. His name was Tom Booker. Tom Booker changed their lives by touching their hearts and souls on a level that they had never experienced before." I think this book deserves more than the 5 stars. I reccomend it to anyone who has not already read it
Rating: Summary: Tear jerking story about a girl and her horse Review: I read this book about a year and a half ago and I still remember it like yesterday. The author is so good at describing the character's pain and feelings that it's hard to put the book down. I can relate to Grace's character because I was in a riding accident quite like that of the book and my horse and I both had to go through the healing process which was a rather rough thing to go through. This book is an excellent read fr anyone who wants to feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down. Review: This is a book well deserved of the acclaim it got! It blends just the right balance of fact, romance, family issues, adventure, and beautiful landscape. No one category is overabundant; I just wanted to keep reading forever. Never boring!
Rating: Summary: The best book I read this year Review: I read the book in a few hours, I started it and just couldn't leave it! It was great! I am looking forward to seeing the movie.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Have Read All Summer!! Review: I am usually not a reader, but his book just totally trapped me. The story was great, the characters were great. In some ways I could really relate. This book is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Heart Renching. Review: This has to be the best book I've ever read. It kept me turning the pages. The ending was unbelievable and romantic. I Loved this book. If you believe in destiny and are a total romantic this is the book for you! The way that Nicholas Evans details every little thing puts you in the book and makes it that much more real.
