Rating: Summary: I still can't understand why Review: Nicholas Evans throws a twist of horses to help explain each character and bring them together. The married mother of a 14 year old girl from New York falls deeply in love with A rancher as he attempts to heal her daughter's horse. at the same time, the rancher, Tom booker, builds a trusting relationship with the daughter. Grace, the daughter, loves her father very much especially after a "hell and back" situation. When Grace finds out that her mom had been cheating on her dad with Tom. She feels betrayed, and rides off planning to kill herself. Tom and His brother go out to find her surrounded by mustangs and her horse fighting with the stallion. Tom gets all of the horses away but 1. The white Stallion... Tom knew exactly how the horse would move before the horse did, and could've clearly stepped out of danger. Instead he offers himslef to the stallion and he is crushed. Later Grace's family did not attend his funeral but 300 other unplanned people did. After his funeral Annie, the mother, was planned to have a baby... Tom's. Why Tom allowed himself to be killed I don't know, and it crushed me. I've been trying to find a way to contact the author but can't.
Rating: Summary: Horse Whisperer Review: The book is great. It tells about a girl who had been injured and a horse who is severly cut up and how they come together again. The girl learns to ride again and the horse starts trusting people again.
Rating: Summary: An Appealing Book that Crosses Generations Review: The plot and characters have been defined a number of times. What is unique and most interesting is that the book is written to attract readers from all age groups. The skill and technique of the Horse Whisperer, his ability to communicate with the animal, and also his depth of understanding of human nature in young people and also in adult relationships makes the book a sure winner! No wonder it was a best seller. The movie was also great! Evelyn Horan - teacher/counselor/author Jeannie, A Texas Frontier Girl - Books One - Three
Rating: Summary: The Horse Wisperer Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. Sometimes I can't really get into a book, but this one grabbed me right from the start. I absolutly loved it. If you like horse stories or a romance read this book. It's a two for one.
Rating: Summary: I loved it!!! Review: I own a horse and this totally describes every thing! It is a awesome book and I coudn't put it down! It is everything from happy to sad but skipping bad! It is great. It is my favorite book and I don't see how any one could think it was bad unless they hate horses! But if I had to pick a book out for you out of a whole book store that is what I would pick! This isn't a book just for kids it is a great book for adults too! I say read it, buy it!
Rating: Summary: A great story Review: This is a great story, told by a brilliant writer. This book is further proof that, as a rule, books are better than the movies based on them.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful novel for the appreciation of all ages Review: A contemporary love story that may end in an unexpected way for some.Evan's is wonderfully discriptive in his book about the Horse Whisperer who helps a girl's (Grace) tramatised horse regain its confidence so that they both may ride again. However, I found the part of the relationship between Grace's mother and the horse whisperer a little too over played, but it's also an event that forms the crux of the story apart. I also find that it shadows the depiction of the horse whisperer doing as his name, and the book title, suggests. None the less, it is a beautiful novel told out in a beautiful setting, of the contemporary yet primal lifestyle that exists all around us - the one we're often oblivious to.
Rating: Summary: "Trust In The Heart" Review: Nicolas evans has hit the button once again: he has written a novel for everyone. Wild horses couldn't drag me from this tear- jerking page turner. In the still of a snow covered morning in upstate New York, a girl and her friend out ridding their horses are hit by a 40 ton truck. Though horribly injured, both Grace Maclean and her horse Pilgrim survive. But this impacton their lives and of those who love them is devastating. Grace is the only daughter of a prominent New York editor, Annie Graves, and her lawyer husband Robert. In a way unknown to all, their destiny comes to depend on Pilgrim. So mutilated and tramatized no-one knows what may happen to Pilgrim, some even suggest that it would be better and safer to destroy him but Annie refuses, hopeing that some how he can be saved. It is after some deep researching that Annie hears about a man in Montana, a 'whisperer' who is said to have the gift of healing troubled horses. Abandoning her job, and her home and even her husband, Annie sets off accross the continent with Grace and Pilgrim to find him. He is Tom Booker and he lives on the Rocky Mountain Front, a place of daunting beauty and history. It is here, under the massive Montana sky, all theirs lives are changed forever. Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Review: Never have I been so touched by a book. I picked it up simply because of my love of horses some years ago, and read it twice within the same summer, amazed by the heartwarming feel that this book possesses. Truly, this book is inspirational. Through the trials of a little girl, we learn that no matter what happens, we can get back up and try again, and that no matter what in our lives tries to bring us down, there is somebody there to pick us back up. If you haven't read The Horse Whisperer, you are truly missing out. Far better than the movie of the same name, this book will amaze you and bring you to tears if you have a feeling bone in your body. Take an emotional ride in Nicholas Evan's first book, a truly amazing read!
Rating: Summary: It makes me think Review: When I read books, I picture, I feel. There are books however, that keeps me thinking after I had finished them, and The Horse Whisperer is one of them. The story is but a simple one, but the characters are so vividly portrayed, the flow so cleverly wrought out, that reading the book made me want to be part of it. The ending was not something that I particularly favoured, but I doubt if I knew a better one. When I reached the end of the book, I felt a kind of regret that it had finished. It is definitely a good read.
