Rating: Summary: WHY? Review: Although well written (especially for a first novel), there was no actual substance to the characters or plot or ending. I felt nothing for anyone (including the horse and I'm a horse lover!) and kept reading just in case there was something there. Actually, I read the book because I was sorely disappointed in the movie and gave the benefit of the doubt that the book should be better. So, after the movie and the book I felt like the old adage, "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!"
Rating: Summary: Very entertaining Review: I thought this book moved very quickly, was very descriptive(the scenery sounds magnificent), and from what I hear very different from the movie. I could not help but have the image of Robert Redford in my mind as I read this book and this is a good thing. The story flowed very nicely and keeps the attention of the reader. I was moved by the ending and look forward to the author's next venture.
Rating: Summary: SO GOOD!! Review: I saw part of the movie before I read the book and I didn't really enjoy the movie. But the book was way different and I'm so glad because it's one of the best books I have ever read! I love romance stories and this one is very interesting. I've never read sex scenes before and I loved the ones in this story, they were very intricate and romantic. I hope to find another book like it soon.
Rating: Summary: WAY Better than the Movie!!! Review: I had seen the movie before I read the book, and boy was I in for a surprise! The book is 100 times better! I couldn't stand Grace's attitude in the movie, but in the book, you really feel bad for her. They left so much out in the movie, I was really surprised! I couldn't put the book down. Even if you've seen the show and know how it's going to end...read the book anyway, because you'll be in for a surprise! If I could say one bad thing about the book, though, I don't really need to hear about Annie and Tom making love! But other than that, two thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: A touching romance Review: The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans is one of the most emotional novel I've ever read. It shows me how strong a family can be in time of crisis. The love of the family can pull you through everything. It also shows me that when we grow up we tends to listen to our head more than our heart. We do things that we think is the right thing to do rather then things that we want to do. The whole story is about this upper class family. When Grace, the teenager daughter, had an accident while riding her horse the whole family stick together, help each to heal this wound. Then Tom, the "Horse Whisperer" for he so good at training horse, came in the picture. There born the forbidden love between Grace mother, Annie, and Tom. The story has a lot more going on and keep me going until the last page. It add a little poetic romance in to out daily life.
Rating: Summary: Love the book, except for the ending Review: This book is a great read, especially if you love horses, like I do. I love the character, Annie because everyone tells her to destroy the horse, Pilgrim and she refuses. She's my hero for not giving up on him. The ending falls apart, though. It's almost as though the author didn't know when to quit. The movie was perfect. Just the way I wanted to see this one end. Skip the book and watch the film.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! Review: This is a fantastic book! I couldn't put it down for a second. Twists in the happenings make it even better. A must read wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Book by An Excellent Author!! Review: An excellent book, one of the best books I have ever read.. I couldn't put it down even for a second.. A MUST for animal lovers and anyone else who wants to read an excellent book!!!
Rating: Summary: why drag in a horse to justify adultery!! Review: for a first novel, the author deserves to be commended: the language is easy and in places delightfully fresh; his insights into human frailities would make a psychiatrist envious; and his descriptions are very vivid. however. the entire story seems to be have been contrived to justify an illicit relatioship! Robert comes out a real sucker in the end! not only does he have to condone his wife's infidelity, he has to learn to put up with an illegitimate child as well! and bumping off tom is a very convenient ploy regularly employed by script writers in Hindi films! get rid of the extra male (or female, as the case may be) so that everything can be nicely rounded off in the end! i'm afraid it is a rather stale theme in my part of the world. i'd recommend this book for any one interested in psychology, but just about that!
Rating: Summary: This was truly one of the best books I've ever read. Review: Nicholas Evans is an excellent author and has become, in one book, one of my favorite contemporary writers, right up there with Pat Conroy. This is a beautiful story. If you are a true connoisseur, you must read this book. No doubt, you will love it. It's a work of art.
