Summary: A book you can learn a lot
Review: The novel "The Horse Wipserer" was one of the greatest books I have ever read in my entire life. The writer wants to illustrate a variety of relationships. For example, we can see the strong relationship that exist between people and animals and between people. What I liked most about this book was the power of some people to understand animals and touch their soul. I have read this book 3 times and I believe that is an excellent book that awakened my sensitiveness.

Summary: A book I can relate to
Review: This book was great! I read it 3 times! I think that I liked it so well because I read it when I was 15, and Grace was 13 or 14. I have a horse, and it just shocks me that stuff like that happens. I think, it could have been me! The ending is really good also. And I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's even better than the movie! There is just one part of the book that I did not like, but it's not a big deal. You should definately read it!

Summary: Compelling, but a little too adulterous
Review: I am usually not the type of reader that likes Daniel Steele, and many of those so-called "romance" novelists, but I've often enjoyed love stories. Nicholas Sparks' books have always inspired me, and some even made me cry, and I believe that the first time I read this book, I was emotially saddened.

People tell me that the ending was horrible for this book, and that Evans just wanted to stop writing the book. I thought that it wasn't too bad. That despite how the family (for those who have not read it, I will not note any specifics) acted "strangely" towards the girl for what she's been through; the father's lack of character (despite his wife cheating on him, the reader does not notice how sad/etc. he is) that the ending, which makes one think about what s/he would do if s/he was in their shoes, and imagine what is to come afterwards worked out well.

But, I also take a half star off for all the unnecessary sex and a fairly rushed ending.

If you are one that liked Nicholas Spark's books, you will definately enjoy this book. You'd also probably enjoy it if you liked Daniel Steele... or if you have read Janice Graham's FIREBIRD, it is rather similar...

If you're a fan of Science Fiction, I'd stay away... and also if you hate any kind of book with a lot of sex, and "mushy-stuff..." :)

Summary: A "Whisper" of His Talent
Review: One morning while teenage Grace Maclean is riding Pilgrim (her pony) had an accident and left her and her four-legged friend damaged in mind, body, and spirit. Meanwhile, her mom, Annie Graves was working out a wrinkle in her self-absorbed existence when she got a call at her plush, Manhattan office about Grace's accident and then she started the journey with Grace and Pilgrim to the Booker ranch in Montana. Annie risked everything (her career, marriage etc) because she believed the Whisperer (an equine Zen master who has the ability to heal horses and heal broken spirits with soothing words and a gentle touch) can help them. Then another accident happened that made everyone say Pilgrim should be destroyed, but Annie wouldn't give up on him as for her daughter's sake. After a few weeks, their lives with Tom Booker (a cowboy) resulted in an epic love story and a gripping adventure.

This book is a magnificent emotional journey about the power of belief (Annie's belief in the Whisperer and her daughter etc), self-discovery and hope. The plot is great, the language is easy and in places delightfully fresh and his descriptions are very vivid. But that's not the excuses for wasting time on this book with a really bad ending and unneccessary graphic sexual content. My recommendation for you is watching vcds or dvds instead of reading this book.

Summary: Thought it would be great and it just wasn't
Review: The plot about the horse and the girl was excellent and original. The "love" story between the whisperer and Grace's adulterous mother, left much, much to be desired and was like a bad re-make of Bridges of Madison County. The ending is completely nonsensical--none of the characters would have acted how indicated except for the sap that is Grace's mother. You like Grace's father too much for the adultery to fly. I had heard nothing but good things about this book and was stunned I didn't like it.

Summary: Excellent book, movie even better!
Review: This book is the best book I have ever read! As a lover of horses I could relate to what the horse and his rider were going through. The fear that was inside both of them. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. About four months after reading it I found myself working on the set of the movie in Saratoga, NY. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. For three long weeks I watched the beginning of the movie unfold. Robert Redford did a beautiful job piecing the movie together. Even though the movie has a different twist in the end it is just as good or even better than the book! I would read the book first and then watch the movie if you haven't seen it already!

Summary: I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the book.
Review: This is exactly the kind of book I normally hate. It was given to me as a gift, and I felt obliged to read it. Whenever I hear the words "heart warming" used to describe a book, I generally stay miles away.

However, it really isn't bad. While it won't get mistaken for great literature, it's very well-written and compelling. Evans avoids the mistake of so many of his contemporaries and allows his characters to have real flaws and real obstacles. His obvious writing skill makes what could have been a pretty hokey novel very readable.

The story is simple, a girl and her horse are badly wounded in a traffic accident, and the mother turns (in more than one sense) to the only man who can help her rehabilitate the horse (and, by extension, her daughter).

It's been said in a lot of these reviews that the ending is bad, and I rather have to agree. It seems like Evans painted himself into a corner and didn't know how else to get out, but despite that it still earns four stars.

Summary: Best book ever!
Review: I loved it so much! Nicholas Evans has wrote a magnificant book telling the life of a youg girl who has a tragic accedent on her horse, she ends up having to loose her leg and almost give up her horse because it is nasty. But her mom hears about this person called a horse whisperer that can help heal horses, and so she calls him and after pushing her way to get what she wants for her daughter, he helps take care of the horse and get Grace (the young girl) to ride her horse like nothing has ever happened. The book gets very gripping with Tom and Annie's meeting up and takes a toll of its own. I would have to say, even though the ending may have seemed a little unsatisfying I think it was the only logical way to end it, sad but true. But I have to admit, the movie sucked majorly. The ending was way dumb compared to the book and the plot ran slower in the movie. Hope you enjoy it!

Summary: Great Book!
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read even though it was probably the saddest. I can honestly say that Nicholas Evans is a great author and I have yet to read his new book, The Loop. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Utterly brilliant!
Review: I watched the film 'The Horse Whisperer' before reading the book and although I loved the film, I enjoyed the book even more. It is so wonderfully descriptive, that you feel for all the characters involved. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good solid read, one where you can't take your eyes off the pages for a second. It is one of the best books I've ever read, and that is a lot coming from someone who can't stand all that horsey stuff!
