Summary: An oddly great book
Review: The Green Mile was like a testament. It's like Stephen King was sent to reassure everybody who reads it that there is a God. For those of you who like to cry and to really get into the books , to actually become friends with the characters read this book.

Review: The story was pretty original, but nothing I found VERY exciting. It was also quite obvious the book was published in parts - the "whole" vesion was still divided into parts, and in the beginning of each part there seemed to be a little review of the previous events, which was a bit boring for someone who's reading the book as one unit.

Summary: Not A Stephen King fan anymore
Review: I was a fan of King's work in the beginning. He got way to gruesome and I stopped reading his work. I was astonished that he wrote this book. I would like to say that this is his best work yet and hopefully there will be many more. The description of the electrocutions are clear but the overall character development is awesome. I hope he keeps up this wonderful work.

Review: What can one say about this book? I don't recall a word that can describe the pure BEAUTY of this novel. It will touch your soul for sure. Stephen King's remarkable novel is bursting with pure genius. I recommend spending a day alone reading this most excellent masterpiece. It will be treasured for years to come. Enjoy!

Summary: One of the Best Books I Have Ever Read
Review: I read a lot of books but for some reason I had never read anything by Stephen King before I picked up the Green Mile at an airport before a long flight. I must say that since reading this book I have become quite the King fan. The man is a genius, a great writer and the most engrossing storyteller of our age (sorry Tom Clancey). The story is a fictional account of a prisoner with supernatural powers that has been imprisoned on death row for a murder conviction. I don't want to reveal too much about the plot but suffice it to say that the book is superb reading. You will find this book impossible to put down, I could not stop reading it until I got to the end. Then I went and bought another King novel.

Summary: A must have
Review: The reason I read this book was because my mother loves Stephen King's books.This is definitly in the top 5 books I've ever read. The characters are very well thought out and all of them have a very good personality.Some of the best parts involve old sparky and Delacroix,when billy the kid is singing,(really funny)and when they figure out John Coffey is innocent.the only thing is that the book can get pretty boring at some times,but if you bare with it,you will get to a better part. Overall,this is a very good book and you will not be dissapointed.

Summary: We All Walk King's Mile
Review: Upon picking up the book and examining its cover, I was completely mesmerized. The Green Mile is a statement about life, death, and the beauty and horror of humanity. King provides a convincing first-person narrative through the voice of Paul Edgecomb, the supervisor of E-Block at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. E-Block, however, is the scene of death row at Cold Mountain and the last stop for any inmates sentenced to the cold, accommodating cells that line the lime-green floors. The story reads as a memoir written by a 104 year-old Edgecomb. How Edgecomb arrived at such an age is attributed to the mystery of John Coffey - "just like the drink, except not spelled the same." Coffey is the central character in which Edgecomb focuses, and he literally is a " savior" to the people he touches. King's novel presents many lessons and themes about human life, from the destructive evils of hatred to the love and dedication of sacrifice. One theme is prominent throughout the entire novel: life is full of good and bad people. King requires the reader to apply the above theme to each person's lives. We can decide to live life like Coffey by helping and being kind to others, or we can contribute to the poisonous disease of hatred like the characters of Percy Wetmore and William Wharton. Either way we decide, the Green Mile awaits us at one point or another. When we walk down that final mile, we are the people that determine our worth in life.

Summary: Away from Horror
Review: I have grown up reading Stephen King's fiction and now it feels as if we have both reached maturity together (myself in reading tastes and King in writing). This is the author I saw glimpses of in reading "The Body" and "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshenk Redemption." Reading it made me rethink the story of Christ and pick up "Hearts in Atlantis" and "Bag of Bones." Absolutely spellbinding!

Summary: King's Best
Review: I read all 6 of "The Green Mile" books in serial publication, eagerly awaiting each installment. This novel is set on death row in a Southern prison. To give any more away would do the book injustice. I recently re-read the entire book through, and enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time. In my opinion, this is Stephen King's best novel; it's that good! Very highly recommended!
