Review: Bud not Buddy is an excellent book.I choose this book because I had always heard it was a great book and I never read it so I picked it up and read it.Bud not Buddy is about a little boy whose mother had died and he didn't know who his father was.When his mom died he was sent to an orphange that he hated,he was tossed from foster to foster home. So one day he and his friend decided to run away.But as the journy contiued he and friend seperated and Bud was all alone.He started back on the journy and came to find a family along with a grandfather and a wonderful home.This book was excellent and I suggest you sould read it.Hope this review helped.

Review: I thought this book was an excellent book.
This book is about a boy named Bud who is an orfan. He has been at the orfanage since he was 6, because of the death of his mother. He is determined to find his farther so he runs away from a family who gets him.
My favorite character is Bud because when he is determined to do something he does it.
My favorite part was when he ran away from the family.
I would encourage everyone to read this book.

Review: Bud not buddy is an excellent book. I choose to read this book because it sounded like a very good book. Bud, Not Buddy was a historical fiction novel written by Christopher Paul Curtis. The book's setting takes place during the Great Depression and in many different areas in which Bud takes journeys to find his father. The book talks about his mother who died when he was very young and he has not yet ever known his father but finds out in the end that he actually meets his grandfather.
The people he meets at the end are relevant to the story because they are band members with his grandfather. I would say the themes of this book are determination, courage, and hope. No matter what life throws in Bud's way, he is always focused and determined to find his father. A surprise observation was in the end when you expected the man to be his father but in fact it was his grandfather which was a shock to me as the reader. The plot in the story kept you interested because you always wanted to know if he was going to find his father in the end. There is a lot of figurative language and vocabulary used in the story and Bud's "Rules" provided much laughter during the reading. I think the pacing and tone, as well as the sentence length and structure was appropriate for the grade level that this was set for.
I would recommend this novel to young children who may have never known one of their parents and that they should never give up hope in their search.

Review: Bud, Not Buddy is an award-winning book written by Christopher Paul Curtis that takes place during the Great Depression. This was a period of history when the overall world economy was suffering.I picked this book because i can picture my self as him in few different ways.I recommend this book to all people who enjoy reading i really didnt like reading until i read this book and it changed my mind so now im a reader of all types of books so take the time and read Bud,Not Buddy.

I like the way the author related back to the late 1930's. Chrisopher Curtis is a inspirational author.The book Bud, not Buddy was filled with surprises, inspiration,and joy.I really think this book is great! Throughout the book I could relate to most of the events.In this book you're always guessing what's going to happen. I really think this book should be read by all 4th-8th graders.I loved Bud,not Buddy,And if you read this book you will like it too! I gurantee it!!!

Summary: Close, But No Cigar
Review: ... Although the story was entertaining in an unusual sort of way, I would have enjoyed it were I two years younger. (I just turned twelve.) Bud (not Buddy)'s story is definitely interesting...but I think it could've been a little longer. I'll admit I got into the story as it went along, and even started to care what happened to Bud-which only happens when I'm either very deeply into a story, which I was not, or when an author is very good-but the ending left me deeply disappointed. Still, I think it was an, as Bud would say, "awful good try."

Review: February 12, 2003The novel "Bud, Not Buddy" by Christopher Paul Curtis is one that brings the 1930's to life through a boy named Buddy. Within the first chapter Buddy is a person, alive in the imagination of the reader. Buddy tells his story in this historical, believable, fun, tear jerking novel. While reading this novel the reader feels that he or she is a ten year-old, going through the trials and journeys that Buddy experiences. Curtis develops the plot in a fluent and quick manner making it impossible to put the book down because the reader wants to find out what happens to their friend Buddy. By the end of this novel the reader is left with tears, a full heart, and joy.
The most important theme that Curtis develops in this novel is one of courage and perseverance. Buddy has to keep going to find what he is looking for. Buddy turns to his mother's words of wisdom that are so profound and at the same time turning to his mother breaks the reader's heart. Making this fun filled, realistic novel even more intriguing is the way Buddy, through his experiences has these rules that are look to for guidance as well. By having these rules, Curtis again pulls in the reader because the reader wants to keep finding out what other rules Buddy has up his sleeve. Finishing this novel gives the feeling that anything is possible. This novel is skillfully written for children who are in the fifth grade, they will be able to understand Buddy's thoughts and they will gain a lot from the themes of this novel.

Several characteristics of a high literary merit book can be found in this page-turner novel. The author creatively combines figurative language such as "All the kids watched the woman as she moved along the line, her high-heeled shoes sounding like little firecrackers going off on the wooden floor," with a precise set of vocabulary. Bud takes the reader on an unforgettable journey that provides the reader with a true lived-through experience. The characters are so unique, believable, and individually memorable that the reader leaves this book thinking Herman E. Calloway truly was a music legend.
