Rating: Summary: Bud, Not Buddy a review by Matt Review: Bud Not Buddy Have you been trapped in a shed full of vampire bats? Probably not. That's what happened to Bud. Bud was trapped in a shed full of Vampire Bats. He saw a giant bat. That is what he thinks. He grabs a rake and opens his buck knife and is ready to strike. He strikes where he thinks the heart is and if it doesn't kill it he will stab it with his buck knife. Then something flies out. In the story, Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis, Bud, the protagonist, tries to run away from a mean foster family. My favorite scene is when Bud is trapped in a shed full of vampire bats. He got in trouble for beating up Todd because he got a pencil stuck up his nose when he was asleep. Bud punched Todd in the nose. When his mom and dad came in his dad took him outside to the shed. My other favorite part is when Bud is trying to catch the train. Bud has to catch the train to get out of Flint. Bud is running after the train. When he looks up he sees Bugs (his friend). He tells Bud to give him his suitcase, but Bud is too far away and misses the train and returns to Flint. I think you should read this book. It is full of adventure and amazing things. It also has some really funny scenes. You can pick it up in your local library or bookstore.
Rating: Summary: Bud, Not Buddy a review by Marit Review: Were you ever in a foster home? Well, in the story Bud Not Buddy written by Christopher Paul Curtis, Bud is. Bud is taken to many different homes, but when taken to the Amos' house they lock him in a shed for the night. They have gone way too far. Bud is very scared in the shed so he breaks out! He grabs his suitcase from under the table in the house and runs away again! My favorite scene in the book is when the protagonist, Bud, punches Todd, his new foster brother, in the face. He does this because when he is awakened there is a pencil in his nose. (Can you guess who did that?) So Bud punches him. Another one of my favorite scenes is when he is locked in the shed. It is very sodden (moist) and dirty in there, and it is also as dark as ebony. This makes him very nervous. He tries to get out, but he can't! So he rips the newspaper off the windows and jumps out. Bud acts like a maverick in the library scene because he rents a book and falls asleep under a tree (This makes him look homeless, which right now he is). About an hour later he is jumped on, so he takes out his old pocketknife and is possibly ready for almost anything! Later in this book Bud is taken somewhere, where he is fed and sheltered. He seems very happy and safe where he is now! Therefore he has found him self a great new place to live! To find out more about this book you can either take it out at the library or buy it from almost any bookstore! Now I wouldn't gloat about this great book but... I encourage you to read it! Also, if you read this book you can find out where Bud is taken and who took him! Ladies and Gentlemen, I think it would be a good idea to read this awesome book!
Rating: Summary: Bud, Not Buddy a review by Alissa Review: Bud Not Buddy How would you feel if you had no parents or anybody who loved and cared about you? Well, read the book Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis to find out how Bud feels like being a foster child. In the book, Bud Not Buddy, Bud has no parents and has to go from house to house trying to find somebody to love and care about him. Bud, the protagonist, is a very generous, lonely character. He is, unfortunately, a foster child. One day, Bud goes to a new foster home to live with the Amos's. They were very, very mean to Bud. They locked him up in a shed so Bud ran away and fell asleep in front of the library. After he ran away he walked a very long way to get back to his orphanage so he could eat breakfast. However, when he got there a security guard scolded him and shouted, "You are too late, there is too big of a line, come back for lunch." Bud got very upset and started to walk away, but as soon as he got a little ways down the line, a young couple pretended he was their son. When the security guy walked by the couple asked Bud, "Where have you been, son? Now get back in line right now." Bud finally got in line and ate breakfast. By that point he had gotten to know the couple well. He got to really like them since he was spending so much time with them so he asked them if he could live with them. But they said no, because they move around from place to place and they could not keep him. So as you can see Bud Not Buddy, is a very interesting, but mysterious book. I don't mean to gloat but I hope you get a chance to read the whole book and find out what happens in the end.
Rating: Summary: The search for my long lost father. Review: Bud Caldwell is an orphan that is living at a place called the home. His mom died when he was only seven. So he set out to find his father. My favorite part was when Bud met Lefty Louis. He thought he was a vampire because he had blood in a box in his car. So he got in the car and Bud took the wheel. I also liked the part when Lefty Louis was looking at Bud's legs and said, "Yeah, he's puny. Good thing his legs don't touch when he walks'cause if those two twigs got to rubbing against each other he'd have a fire in there in no time. " I think others will like this book because there is a very surprizing twist at the end and it's very unexpected!
