Summary: Why are we reading this instead of a classic?
Review: The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros, was one of the most boring books I've ever read. I really didn't like Cisneros' writing style or the way she wrote about life on Mange Street in a series of vignettes. I feel that the book didn't really have a middle, and the ending didn't really end anything, the book just kind of stopped. The reading didn't effect me in any way. The characters are hard for me to relate to. The one part in the book that I do like, however, is the vignette in which the main character, Esperanza, describes how the only thing that she can talk to are the trees. Based on the above opinions, I would not recommend this book to anyone, and ask the question: why are we reading this book instead of a classic?

Summary: The House On Mango Street
Review: I thought this was a good novel. I liked how they showed the poor. It made me realize what I do have. The author's writting style was very good. She started off very slow and made you want to keep reading and guessing whats gonna happen next. The characters were really not that similar to me and my life.I would recommend this to others because it will make people realize what they have and not take advantage of life. Yes I would really enjoyedf this novel.

Summary: My Opinion
Review: What I thought of the novel was okay. It was a little interesting but yet boring at the same time. One thing I did like was the Authors style it was short but yet it revealed much detail. The reading did not affect me at all,but in the same way I could relate to her and some of what she is going through. But I cant say that any of the other charecters relate to me, but I can see what they are going through as well. I cant say that i would recommend this book to someone;it wasnt that great where I could say,"yeah its a great book;you should read it."

Summary: My review on TheHouse On Mango Street
Review: I think that the book was pretty good. I liked the fact that it has many diferent parts to it and that it doesn't get old. I thought that the authors writing style was excelent. The book really didn't relate to me because I have never really experienced anything like that in my life. The characters in the book are not simular to anyone I know. so in conclusion this book was very good and i would recomend it to someone that likes books like this.

Summary: Tha Mango Street House
Review: I have just completed reading the wonderful novel The House on Mango Street. I thought that this was a thrilling book. I wanted to turn and turn the pages all the way to the end ( I did eventually) . I like how Sandra Cinceros never gives how old the kids are until the end of the story. Her writing stlye was also grea, easy to read, and not complex. The reading made me think about how my life could have been much better. The characters made me feel comfortable. Like I had known them all my life. Even though I knew in my mind that they were fictional. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and colleges. I'm pretty sure they would say the same thing about this book once they read it.

Summary: Cyrus Sherm review
Review: The House on Mango Street was a fictonal story about a girl named Ezperanza. This story was not like ordinary novels, it was short, simple but "filling." I especialy enjoyed the book, because it was not boring what so ever and the author described activitys and people in the book so well. The book went at a very fast pace. Each chapter was a small story all to itself. I like that type of reading for school because when you go to take a test, it is fresh in your mind. unlike many other books, I noticed that most the kids in my class also did well with it. this book captures the escence of the characters life and to me, she interprits and instills you with clear pictures. this was a well and fun written story.

Summary: The ugly house with boarded windows on Mango Street
Review: The House on Mango Street takes place in a Latino neighborhood on Chicago, around a house with boarded windows on Mango Street. The novel is portrayed through the eyes of a young girl growing up and becoming a woman. She battles obstacles of your average Mexican-American girl: gender, poverty, and race; where women were not to expect too much out of life. Esperanza, this girl who wants to become a poet, is self-consious about herself and ashamed to reside in such a run-down house. Her dreams begin to crack as she realizes, not evertyhing turns out like in your dreams. Through rough experiences with friendships, alienation, peverty, and death, Esperanza becomes stronger and moves on from Mango Street remaining true to herself and always optimistic. The novel progresses from a girl with low self-esteem that manages to blossom amidst the dirty streets and lives her dreams. This book was well done with a great sense of reality, that is not sugar-coated. Sandra wrote things as they were and shall be respected for that. You must admire her writing style, being one of the few authors confindent enough with themselves to use vignettes. Although a great book, I must inquire why it is on the 9th grade reading list? It is not a difficult book, nor is it too long to grasp the attentions of 10-year-olds. I would prefer if they entered this book on the 5th grade reading list, because, to me and several other peers, this book is much too simple for us, so therefore should begin with the younger people of our generation. All I am inferring, is that if you were a person age 12 and above, this book would fail to intereset you ass much as it would people in elementary schools. But, if you feel up to it, or just want something feast your eyes on, this is a book that should be on your list of choices.

Summary: AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! BORING CRAP
Review: This book is a complete nightmare. Sandra Cisneros gets a bunch of credit for her fantastic writting, when she really needs to take a trip back to 1st grade and learn to put quotation marks in front of sentences that somebody is saying. She needs to indent, and make her vignettes longer than the mostly 2 paragraph long ones the book beholds. I'm only reading this crappy book because I have to, and believe me, it is all a waste of time, and the 11 dollars I paid for it at Barnes & Noble.
Believe me, Sandra Cisneros is not the great writter she could be when she wrote this peace of s**t.
