Review: This book is another one of those fantasy books I cant put down. It deals with monsters and creatures not of this world. It also shows that a sisters bond holds strong enough to give someone the courage to do what they are scared to do. I reccomed this book to anyone, even if you are a picky reader.

This is just one of the many saying that is in this incredible fantasy. The Two Princess of Bamarre by Gail Carson is a story about finding your inner courage to achieve what you want.
Princess Adelina (Addie) was one of the biggest cowards at the beginning of the story. She was frightened at some of the littlest things such as spiders. But when her sister falls ill of the fatal disease, the Gray Death, she decides she'll go on a journey for the cure. Through frightening monsters to cunning dragons, she finds courage within herself to face them. With her perseverance and determination she goes on, but with time, her sister's life is slowly ticking by.
In the kingdom of Bamarre, in mythical times is when this enchanting story takes place. About a period of a month goes by in this frightening journey for Addie. Through the western forests of specters to the creepy caves of the dragon Volley, she travels through the land of Bamarre. With a brave heart she wanders through these chaotic places, but with each passing day her sister becomes weaker and weaker. Once her sister starts to sleep she will have only nineteen days left to live. This leaves Addie the only choice but to find the fairies because they are supposedly to know the cure of the Gray Death. Addie must locate the spot between Mount Ziriat where it descends slightly because that is where the fairies are to be. But can she make it through the lands safely also be able to save her sister in time?
"If I had caught the Gray Death instead of Meryl, she would have begun her quest the moment Milton pronounced my doom." This is the thought that got the amazing trip started. With her sister Meryl dying, Princess Addie decides it's her destiny to save her, even though she is the coward sister. Throughout the adventure she encounters dreadful things such as specters, ogres, and even dragons! The dragon, Volley, who captured her, told the cure, but Addie is held prisoner against her will and would be killed as soon as Volley loses interest in her. To save her sister she must find a way to outsmart the dragon, nevertheless get to the fairies in time. But to do this she is risking precious time of her dear sister. To find out if she escapes and furthermore save her sister in time, read the book.
Finding your inner courage to achieve what you want is truly what this book shows the reader. Addie, leaving her comfort zone to save her sister from the disease is pure courage, but trying to find a dragon to get the knowledge of the cure shows the theme of this book. She risk's her life to achieve the information she wants for her sister sake, but gains the knowledge of which she was seeking. To me, this book takes me on a learning of battling your deepest fears to accomplish what you want. I would rate this book a 5 because it's a fantastic book that I think most people would enjoy especially those who like fairy tales.

Review: What if you, as an extremly timid young lady, had to journey out in a world chock full of dragons, ogres, and other horrors to find a cure for your brave older sister's fatal disease? Scary huh? Well, that's the task Princess Addie has to face in The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. This fantasy book is an inspirational story about overcoming you fears.
Princess Addie, or Addie as most call her, is fearful of almost everything. She rarely strays outside of the castle grounds or away from the protection of her older sister, the courageous Meryl. Meryl is stupendously brave and always there to protect and reassure her little sister. Addie has wavy brown hair, dark eyes, and a complexion to match. Through Addie's actions, you can clearly tell that she is terrified of the day her sister won't always be by her side.
In the begining of the book, the castle is where the two princesses spend their days. When Meryl becomes contaminated with a fatal disease, Addie must journey out into the world in search of the cure. A few of the places she searches are in a lively and dangerous forsest, a desolate, lonely desert, and a cowardly village. Addie must search all these places in only the time period of tweleve days.
The Gray Death is the terrible disease that Meryl is plaugued with. The Gray Death causes the infected person to grow weaker and weaker untill they fall into a deep slumber. Once in the slumber, the person sleeps for exactly nine days. Upon awakening they a stricken down with a fever that lasts three days until death. When Meryl became infected, Addie stayed at her sister's side for six days befor realizing that she must leave. Addie faces her fears and sets out on the quest to discover the cure to the Gray Death before her sister dies. She first heads to the forest where magical shape-shifting specters live, planning to question them on the cure. When they fail to reveal the secret to her, Addie decides to try the dragons. Conveniently, a dragon captures Addie and whisks Addie off to her lair in the desert. Addie manipulates the dragon to disclose the cure to her, but she still has to escape the dragon's lair and bring Meryl to a specific place to recieve the cure.
Does Addie escape from the dragon's lair? What's the cure to the horrible Gray Death? You'll have to read The Two Princesses of Bamarre to find out.
I loved The Two Princesses of Bamarre! It was a magical, suspenseful, and thrilling story with a great surprise ending. The Two Princesses of Bamarre is an especially enjoyable book for those who relish and prefer the fantasy genre.

Review: The Two Princesses... was an amazing book. It tells the story of two sisters, Princess Addie, who is scared and shy, and Princess Meryl, who is the brave one. Princess Meryl wants to save the Kingdom of Bamarre from a horrible disease, the Gray Death. When Meryl gets the death, Addie must go on a quest to find the cure so Meryl can live. Addie fights gryphons, dragons, ogres, and specters. To find out what happens and, my personal favorite part, how Addie saves the kingdom, read this book!! It's one of the best books I've ever read!!

Review: Its a thrilling tale that no one can resist once you pick it up. The courage that the two sisters show makes you want to find your courage. The love that the two sisters show makes you cry. The story that the sisters surrvive through is amazing and should be read.

Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: Slaying dragons and fighting of evil spirits called specters. Killing ogres and gryphons. Who would have thought that all of this would have been done by a princess, one who excells at embroidery. When Addie's brave sister catches a fatal didease, the Gray Death, shy and meek Addie must go and try to find the cure for this mysteriuos sickness. This is where her adventure begins.
This book is an amazing recipe of love, courage and sadness. As you read it, you feel drawn into the characters, and begin to feel their emotions along with them. You agree with their thoughts and actions, and vivid pictures of the story begin to flash through your mind. Levine creates a wonderful texture that is almost touchable. It makes you feel that if you turn the page before you have completely soaked up the story, then you will break your special connection with what's going on inside of the book. This made it wonderful to read.
I'm very pleased that I found such a wonderful book, full of my favorite things. Fantasy, love, and happiness. I'm sure that everyone who reads it will be amazed as I was.

Summary: Gail Carson Levine really does it now!!
Review: I have read a lot of Gail Carson Levine's books, and after Ella Enchanted, I like this one best. The book is about two princesses of the kingdom Bamarre. They are very different -- Princess Addie is fearful and shy; Princess Meryl is bold and brave. Meryl always wants to go on adventures, but Addie doesn't like it when she does. Addie makes Meyrl promise that she won't go on adventures until Addie gets married. Dispite their differences they mean the world to each other. Then Meryl is stricken with the worst sickness ever know -- The Grey Death. Addie, terrified and unprepared, goes on a quest to find the cure. She must battle many different monsters who are in her path. Plus, she has to get back in time to save Meyrl, who's life is dropping by the day... I have to say that Gail Carson Levine really makes a fairy tale good! This book has scary, amusing, and even romantic parts. I reccomend this book to everyone who would like to read a really good fairy tale.

Summary: Ella Verses Addie
Review: The Two Princesses of Bamarre is a book of excitement, depth, and adventure. Fearful, and shy Princess Addie goes on an adventure to find a cure for a fatal plague her sister has caught. It is an adventure he sister has wanted to go on for years and now she must reluctantly take on her dream. I didn't like this book. The adventure was boring and predictable and the characters were stale. Princess Addie is at first portrayed as a shy, innocent little princess. I felt she was self-centered. She keeps her sister from going out and exploring the world for Addie's own protection and comfort and all she does is make beautiful tapestries or something. Then, at the end of the book she is suddenly strong and brave. She changed way too quickly. In Ella enchanted, I felt such pity for her and wanted her to fight through any struggle she had. Whether it was verbal abuse from finishing school, her stepsisters, or the voyage back home. Here, I just didn't care. I also didn't like the love story. She falls in love with a sorcerer, another character who got on my nerves. Addie refuses to admit her love for him out loud (another sign of conceitedness.) In fact, I had no idea she loves him until the end of the book - I thought it was just a little crush they had. In fact, the book rarely ever discusses their relationship. Maybe about 4 or 5 pages through out the book in total. I didn't understand why they would love each other. In Ella Enchanted, I knew why Prince Char and Ella loved each other and always enjoyed reading about it. In spite of my negative review, however, I definitely don't recommend you limit yourself to reading this book. I know Levine worked hard on it and you should see
for yourself if you like it or not.

Summary: More then your run-of-the-mill fantasy
Review: This is a wonderful classic fantasy that will enthral readers as much(if not more) then Gail's other stories. Definately worth a read. A timid shy sister has to face her fears so she can save her dying sister. Trolls ,dragons, griffens ,specters, and more add colorful detail to this beautiful tale. Not to mention the love of a sorcerer, but don't think this is a fluff book. No, there's plenty of action to entertain the guys. Not to mention the ironic humor placed throughout the book that creates just the right balance of fear and humor. Definately a hiding-in-your-bed-with-a-flashlight-at-10o'clock-on-a-school-night-to-finish-the-last-page-book.
