Summary: Not at all what I expected ... or anticipated
Review: I didn't find the book full of suspense or intrigue. And fortunately, I was able to borrow the book instead of buying it.

Yes, the plot was very different from his other books, and that in itself made me want to read it. And it was a good read - easy to keep track of who was doing what to whom. But the ending left more than just a little bit to be desired. Most of the events along the way were far too predictable.

My personal favorite was A Time To Kill. This one is not in the same class as what I've come to expect from John Grisham.

Summary: What was he thinking?
Review: I think that John Grishman woke up one day and thought he was Tom Clancy and then set out to write The Brethren. The only problem is that he has done a poor impression. This books lacks the intense climax of previous Grishman novels. It does not draw you in and the only reason I was able to read fast was because my head was use to doing so with Grishman novels.

This book is totally different then previous Grishman novels. Lawyers don't really play a key role here like the The Firm and Rainmaker. This is definitely not the book to recommend to people who haven't read Grishman before. Mr. Grishman, go back to your former successful style when you write your next book and leave Tom Clancy to write Tom Clancy books.

Summary: GOOD BUT CHANGE THE ENDING
Review: I THOUGHT THE BOOK WAS A GOOD READ, VERY TOPICAL WITH SUPER TUESDAY ETC, BUT THE ENDING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I found this to be my least favorite of all of his work. I thought the plot was weak, and the ending too pat. After the Testament, this book was a big letdown!

Summary: Boring!
Review: I finished this book because I was 9 months pregnant and had nothing better to do. This is his worst yet!

Summary: The Brethren
Review: This book was pricey, pithy and pitiful. Let this be as low as Mr. Grisham gets otherwise he will loose his readership. The book was slow, the plots were weak and the read was painful. Sorry Mr. Grisham, if this is the vein you are taking, I will not pay the price.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL/The Brethren
Review: I am not easily pleased, but I absolutely loved this book. You are in on the workings of an extortion scam by three judges in federal prison. You are also in on a presidential campaign (master minded by the head of the CIA) to elect the "PERFECT" and "ELECTABLE" candidate Aaron Lake. A great lesson in power, money and honesty. I can see this coming soon to your nearest theater; much sooner that later I hope. I can't believe the negative reactions to this book, I WAS COMPLETELY DELIGHTED WITH THIS BOOK, and every friend that has read it agrees with me.

Summary: Grisham's Right On Track
Review: The Brethren was a very fast paced, original story that kept my interest throughout. The ending was abrupt and left me with a few questions. Overall, very good! You will enjoy it if you love his other novels.

Summary: It was... was... (3 and 1/2 stars)
Review: Ok, I'll admit it: It certainly wasn't the best thing to come out of Grisham's brilliant mind, but it was a whole lot better than any other person could write. It almost seems as though someone else wrote it; no court room scenes. But rather a president and prisoners and some shady lawyers. But still, you have to hand it to him, he wrote a pretty good novel. An easy read, and attention-keeping. Very daring for Grisham. Even more so than The Testiment. Regardless, an okay book from a great writer.

Summary: ZZZZZZZ....
Review: Sorry John, the book is boring. I really tried to get through it, but it's just a slow, slow read. Characters are dull and there isn't any suspense. Hope your next one is better.
