Summary: Too Predictable
Review: The plot was interesting, yet there was no suspense. You can pretty much dictate how everything will fall in place, worth reading but not one of his better books.

Summary: the brethren
Review: I am a great fan of John Grisham. However, this book was a huge disappointment. I can't believe he wrote it. I gave up after the first 80 pages, it was so boring.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Thanks a lot!
Review: Okay, I have one huge pet-peeve...people that give away the ending to the book, or reveal something that they shouldn't. Case in point; I'm reading The Bretheren, and I like it and I'm about half way thru. For the hell of it, I figured I'd read some reviews for the book, and lo and behole, some jackass gives away part of the ending! Thanks a lot!

Summary: Not nearly as good as expected......
Review: I have been an avid John Grisham fan from the beginning, but I was very disappointed in this one. Typically, his books are impossible to put down; however, this one just never grabbed my attention.

Summary: Grisham continues to dissapoint
Review: Since "The rainmaker" I'm waiting for Grisham to write a great novel like he used to do in his early books, and like everytime since then, I'm dissapointed. The story is intersting but where is the tension and thrill. Not his worst book but certainly not his best (far from it). Maybe next time...

Summary: this book goes nowhere
Review: I don't know what got into Grisham. Maybe he is getting bored. Maybe he had a contract he had to fill, but didn't have any ideas. Anyway, the book starts out with a reasonable premise. But there is no real suspense in the development and the end. The story went nowhere and finished flat. I'm glad I read the library's copy and didn't spend money on this.

Summary: BLAH!
Review: Usually I read Grisham with guilty pleasure, staying up well into the night until it is done. With this book I find myself taking a nap all the time - it literally puts me to sleep. And I have to force myself to continue. These characters have no redeeming value and the story is depressing and manipulative.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not bad
Review: I've read most of Grisham's books, and whilst this was not the best one of them all, it certainly had the level of intrigue and drama expected of his novels. A little slow to get going, as with some others of his books, but in the end, a well worthwhile read. The ending did leave a little to be desired though - a bit too much of a hole left.

Summary: He gave up on the ending---Again
Review: I enjoyed the first half of the book. Grisham sets up the story well but like several of his last books it seems as if he gets bored with writing and gives up on the ending with the result of a very weak finish.

Summary: Yawn!
Review: Sorry, John but your characters didn't grip me. I couldn't even finish the novel! Not up to your usual standards.

We need something fresh and engaging. Better luck next time.
