Summary: The best Grisham ever!
Review: I have read every Grisham thus far and The Brethren is definitely the best! How Mr. Grisham connects everything is simply breathtaking. I read this book on a Saturday afternoon and it was one of the more pleasurable and delightful Saturdays I have had in a long time! Thanks Mr. Grisham!

Summary: "Where's the beef?"
Review: I listened to this book on audio cassette on long commutes. All of a sudden, the reader was telling me that the book was over. I was perplexed. I looked at the box it came in. Sure enough, it said "unabridged." I went to the library and read the last few pages in book format. Sure enough, it reads just like the end of the tapes. John Grisham has another great Grisham book going and then, all at once, he just "quits" in an un-Grisham-like manner and wraps up in a few pages what should have taken many chapters. Was there a publishing deadline? Oh well, this cynical view of the presidential election process was good while it lasted. My favorite observation: there is nothing worse than angry judges with time on their hands.

Summary: Entertaining but not his best
Review: The book kept meintersted, but the end was a disappointment....who thehect was Teddy and why did Grisham make such a big deal about hispower to start a war, etc. when the plot of the book could have done just as well with out him? ....Trevor was my favorite character. I think Grisham is a fantastic author, but judging by his last 2 novels, he should follow Jerry Seinfelds lead and get out while he's on top.

Summary: Not as good as I thought
Review: At the first chapters the book was boring and slow. But then the story evolved and became more interesting. However many passages and details seem to be unnecessary, some times are excessive making the story slow, therefore causing a loss of interest in the reading.

Summary: Lack of excitements but yet still a fair good read.
Review: Though I haven't read all of his work, i do enjoy what I have read so far. This is my second book I read that's from him. THE CHAMBER was revitalizing for me and I still enjoy the story. In THE BRETHREN, though it didn't come close to the first book I read from him, it was still good. There are parts of the story where it's boring when Teddy rambled on about war. This story was easily to guess what's going to happen next, but I did guessed some parts wrong. The ending wasn't that exciting, and in this story he made a quick ending which I wasn't really happy with. The book is only 250 or pages (depending what issue) so just read it. There are some parts funny and the whole idea of secrecy. Basically is about a mail scam from three judges in prison. I'm 15, so if your around my age, I probably have this one slide by for most.

Summary: Substandard for Grisham
Review: I've pretty much read all the work Grisham has produced. As a fellow attorney, this genre generally appeals to me, and Grisham rarely disappoints. In this book, he has created an exception to the rule . . . there isn't a single likable character in this novel; no underdog who manages to come out ahead . . . The premise was so implausible as to be laughable. Grisham generally paints with broad strokes, but he perpetrates a straight (and very 70's) stereotype of gay men: "Let's name this one 'Percy', and lets let this one correspond on lavender stationary. . ." Geez!

The book is typical Grisham in that it is very "readable" - but it lacks the wit, the depth, and the PLOT of his previous work. As I read it, I wasn't thinking about who would be cast in which role, but whether Hollywood would even bother to buy the rights to this book. I can't imagine they would.

Summary: No Plot Twists, Bad Ending
Review: This book was completely predictable. Everything you think will happen does, and nothing happens that you didn't expect. Grisham shows no creativity in his thinking. There are many plot points that are unexplained, and possible conflicts that he introduces, but never develops. The ending is an embarrassment. It's like Grisham was in the middle of writing, and went over his page limit, forcing the publishers to leave the real, exciting ending out. Skip this one; it's a waste of time. My English teachers would never accept it, and I'm in high school.

Summary: Stellar
Review: As anyone who reads John Grisham knows, you can count on a great story. This one kept me reading continuously until I was done. I can't wait for his next book.

Summary: Forget this one and re-read The Chamber
Review: This is clearly one of Grisham's weakest books to date. The story is not at all exciting, and his plot and character development are both weak. I found the book to be dry, boring and about 250 pages too long. Skip this one, and pull out an old copy of the Chamber. It will be a better use of time.

Summary: Never make the Movie
Review: I hope they never make the movie of this book without including everything. A great book, that kept me excited the whole time I was reading. I suggest that everyone who loves adventure read this book.
