It was light, enjoyable and at times, it was humorous. It was so enjoyable to me that I found difficulty putting it down.I look forward to more like this from John Grisham.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Grisham Again Review: The Brethren started a little slow, but after a few chapters, it took charge of my mind until I finished it. I don't know how John Grisham holds my attention time after time. My thoughts center around whatever book of his I'm devouring until I finish. Now that I have just finished The Brethren, I'm already missing old Joe Roy.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Not traditional Grisham, but quite good nonetheless Review: Generally, Grisham's books revolve around a good vs evil type of struggle. He seems to abondon that theme in The Brethren, a story about 3 ex-judges (now felons serving their time), a presidential candidate, and "big brother" that is the US government. I found the story very high paced and quite entertaining. In fact, this is probably the fastest I've read a Grisham book. This story focuses on a quite a few characters, none of which are really developed. In fact, none of them, taken on their own, are interesting characters at all. The dynamic established between them however is great. I was really surprised to see how low this book is rating. I personally consider it one of his better books. ...ah, but what about the ending. I see it something like this. Upon reaching chapter 39, Grisham simply decided he'd had enough of the book and would wrap it up. While I'm disappointed, I've read enough of his books that I wasn't expecting much. Regardless, I'm still giving it my recommendation.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very good book Review: I am not a huge reader but lately I've been reading a lot of books and I loved this book. It relates to present day so much and was entertaining to read. The ending could've used a little work as a few things are still unanswered but excellent book.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: So close Review: Uuuggghh! It was going so well but then Grisham decided he wanted to go off on vacation or something and chose to just add, "The End". What a disappointing ending!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not one of Grisham's best... Review: John Grisham usually writes novels that are hard to put down, but this was not one of them. There were two stories going on at the same time that came together at the end; The Brethren, a group of lawyers running a mail scam through prison luring closet gays and blackmailing them, and a politician running for president. Needless to say, the political part of the story tends to drag on relentlessly while the other story is captivating and fresh. Although it wasn't Grisham's better novels, it was still pretty entertaining.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The Bretheren is a good book Review: This book was entertaining and well written. It is not about law as much as John Grisham's other books. I like that and think it is refreshing. I don't think this book is as good as some of his other's like The Firm, but it still had an intriguing plot and the characters were very well developed. The characters: Aaron Lake: Running for the President of the United States. He is a very simple man, unpretentious and straight forward. He is backed by the CIA and is getting many strings pulled for him to gain numbers in the polls. The CIA hand picked Aaron Lake as their candidate because of a future secret crisis they think he can prevent. The Brethern: Three Judges in a low secruity jail. They are getting very rich very fast in an extortion scam. Now all the Brethern need to do is get out of jail before they are too decrepit to enjoy their windfall. These characters collide and when they do the action gets interesting. Read this book if you like suspense and intrigue.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Enjoyable and Entertaining Review: As usual, I found this story to be a typical Grisham novel, entertaining and mysterious. It was a far cry from his best work, and not quite as well done as some of his earlier novels, but I still thought it was an excellect novel. Grisham is almost scary with his account of the abilities of the CIA, and the power of money in American politics. Overall I thought this was a very interesting story. If you like Grisham, you'll enjoy it.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Typical Grisham Review: John Grisham delivers another easy read thriller. Twisting the justice system and the political landscape of the United States he delivers and interesting page turner that does not require much thought and it great to read on a plane. I always allot myself an easy read of either Grisham, Koontz, or Ludlum to get me through the always fun 4 hour delays while traveling. This book will help you get through delays and is a fast page turner that will not leave you dissapointed. Not nearly as good as the Firm, but will do for traveling and zoning out.
