Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Disappointing - even for fans Review: I am a big Robert Ludlum fan, having read all 18 of his novels published (under the name Ludlum) before 1997 - except The Road to Omaha. The Apocalypse Watch reads as though it were written by a screenwriter. The plot moves swiftly, and is carried by the dialog. However, there is a conspicuous shortage of descriptive prose. Locations, buildings, scenes, and persons are usually described in one short paragraph. That leaves little room for local color, atmosphere, or character development. The Apocalypse Watch is a big disappointment for this Ludlum fan. I can't recommend it.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Inept Twaddle Review: I had never read Ludlum before so I picked this one to sample him. If this is representative of his writing, I am totally at a loss as to why he was so popular. The writing in this book appeared to be unedited and much of the language was unintentionally funny. The character development was haphazard and uninteresting. All the characters were cliched and the action sequences contained no effective build-up and were extremely unexciting. I resolved to finish the book although it was an excruciating 700 plus pages. All I can say is this book made Tom Clancy's writing seem like Shakespeare. Thank God for LeCarre.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Ludlum Strikes Back Review: I have read many of Mr.Ludlum work and being the master of conspiracy that he is, only him could make those plots were you can trust no one, one by one the doors get closed and you find yourself against everybody with only a few companions to back you up... or is it eliminate you?.
The master again show us that almost no one is save from falling from grace and turning into the dark side... "corruption, envy, lust", all this things can turn the highest and more respectful person into a dark minded nazi... even a Vicepresident.
A good book that show us the horrors of the past with a chilling future, with only Drew Latham, special agent, to unmask the truth.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not Normal Ludlum! Review: I have read most of Robert Ludlum's books. This one was difficult to get excited about. The hero of this book is Drew Latham. His brother is doing undercover work on some Nazi organization. His brother dissapears and then reappears. Drew doesn't know if his brother can be trusted or not. Meanwhile this Nazi organization is trying to expand it's power. It is up to Latham to stop them. The book is hard to get interested in. Read Gemini Contendors it is much better.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Could have been better. Review: I have read several of Ludlum's works. The Jason Bourne series was excellent. But in this novel, a plot that is not very original, he gives us a disjointed sequence of events. Latham is released from the compound after being brainwashed. Okay! But then he plods through Europe, with his brother on his heels. The action sequences were not congruent to the story at all. It seemed that if Ludlum wanted to write a hunter-hunted genre of suspense, he should have had the sequences where the hit teams attack Latham better melded into the story. It became cliched after awhile when Latham would get shot at, escape, get shot at, escape. Nowhere near as good as The Bourne Identity
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Typical ludlum magic... Review: I have to admit that I love the Ludlum style..
And there is no doubt, that this book lives up to the power of his style..
Look, if you have read Ludlum's books before and loved them,
this one will not let you down, the plot twists and turns,
I stayed up a few very late nights because I just could not
put this one down.
Please keep the great work coming Mr.Ludlum...
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Good... if you don't mind reading long books that is. Review: I liked how the main characters came from vast and different backgrounds and yet jelled together against a common enemy. And loved the ending where Ludlum uncovered the mystery character who came to me as a completely and shocking surprise. The big negative is the number of pages in the book. To me it is too long. I think Ludlum could have easily knocked off at least 100 pages from this without the reader realising it. If you haven't read Ludlum before you might not want to start with this. But if you have already read and liked any of his other books I think you will like this too.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Hell of a Story! Review: I listened to this book in the car on a trip. It was FANTASTIC. It was a rainy day and it set the mood. This is a great book with a good storyline. I bought it after seeing the name COnsular Operations on the back. Being a big fan of Beowolf Agate i loved to see Cons Ops back in action. Pick it up right away!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: The Death Watch Review: I may be the one guy out there that does not like his books. What makes me mad is that I have gone through about three of them because he gets some much good press. I find the writing wooden and he just does not hold my attention. I also did not like the location descriptions. It may have been different when the book came out, but I find the plot tired - so many times has it been done well that I did not need this version. To be honest I only got about 175 pages into the book. I just thought there should have been something, anything, to keep my attention. The story just kept going on and on with not real light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe I just have a mental block with him and the movies will be better.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Fast paced Review: I really enjoyed this book. I found the action non stop and it was a very quick read. Good characters, but as usual Ludlum's endings are far fetched. I recommend it.
