Summary: A romantic and chilling mystery
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this novel...characters were very described very well, the story was well written and held you captive at the scary moments...good mystery but more than that, very sexy romance parts...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: good fast paced read
Review: I thought this book was a good read and I can't remember laughing throughout a book more than I did with this one. Yeah okay so it was a little far fetched in some respects but it delivered in everything I wanted it to. Enjoy!

Summary: GOOD READ
Review: I won't go into the plot description as it has been done so well in other reviews. If you are looking for a book along the lines of Linda Howard's "Mr. Perfect", which I loved for the humor, this is it. I loved Carley, loved Matt and loved the way Karen Robards used humor in developing their relationship. No, this is not a deep, serious, fact-filled romance with a lot of historical detail. It is about two people who have a history and a sense of humor about themselves and the people important to them. I am quite baffled about the reviewer's comments about the cat. I have four (three are Himmies, as is Carly's) and all are strictly indoor cats. I also have a dog, and for the life of me can't see where the implied abuse is in this book! Having watched the relationships of my animals, the cat and dog in the book behaved just like "only" children adapting to a new sibling. Don't avoid the book simply because of that one review.

If you are looking for a light-hearted, character-driven, hot romance, you will enjoy this one. I rarely buy hard-cover books because of the price and because I buy so many. "Whispers at Midnight" was the right book at the right time and worth the money to me. I am NOT a fan of Karen Robards - I rarely read her books, but again, this one was worth the hard-cover price.

Summary: Better Than a Good Read
Review: I've read eighteen of Karen Robards novels and I class Whispers at Midnight, as the fourth best one.
It started off action packed and died down a bit to almost boring in the middle. The end, although not entirely unpredictable, was fast paced and uncovered all of the clues that were hidden throughout the chapters, to finally reveal the identity of the murderer.
Certainly worth reading.

Summary: Thoroughly Enjoyable Read
Review: In my mind Whispers at Midnight is one of the best I have read from Karen. I adore her Thriller/Suspense novels. This book kept me up until the wee hours 5.0am to be exact which is a good thing I was on vacation at the time and could sleep in from the first page I was hooked and just had to finish it. This book have a bit of everything yummy hunk.. tense action suspence in droves and witty humour. Loved it lots this one is a keeper for me.. glad I purchased the hardcopy...

Summary: Dont Whisper Shout
Review: In Whispers At Midnight Karen Robards takes us on a story of rekindled love, murder mystery, and overcoming your fears, Matt Converse is a community leader and sheriff with a bad boy past whose "I Don't Do Forever" rule is tested when Carly Linton returns to Benton, Georgia to heal from a devastating divorce and open a bed and breakfast.

Carly hasn't forgotten the magic of their prom night or the morning after when Matt withdrew from her life completely. Now the sheriff of Benton, he is a devoted brother, dedicated lawman and devastatingly handsome. Carly has sworn she has learned from her mistakes and promises herself to stay away from Matt. After several attacks on Carly, they are drawn together by necessity to find the person responsible. Can they find the love that was lost twenty years before? Who wants Carly silenced forever? Will their re-found love be strong enough for Matt to say, "For you, I do forever"

In a story with believable characters, we find that you can go back. The story brings two strong independent people together, by then learning to depend on each other. Seeing this seemingly tough man, turn to mush by his sisters was charming. I did feel that we should have seen more of the relationships of the sisters and friends to understand what was going on around the main characters. I would rate this book 4 roses and on the Sensuality Scale-Tangy. Overall a good read.

Summary: A keeper
Review: In Whispers at Midnight, Karen Robards doesn't dissapoint.

Carly comes home to Georgia from Chicago to start a Bed and Breakfast in her childhood home. She never guessed that her first love and used-to-be best friend, the town bad boy Matt Converse, would not only still be there but be the county Sherriff as well.

Ms. Robards takes us through the ups and downs of Carly, who can't decide if she wants to pursue Matt and risk getting her heart broken again or just stay as far away from him as possible. Matt is torn between his passion for Carly and his passion for freedom. He has been raising his three sisters since he was in in early twenties and his mother died. As soon as his youngest sister starts college, Matt is planning on hitting the road.

The suspense in the book is pretty far out there. It wasn't believeable to me at all, but I still enjoyed this book immensely.

Summary: So annoying
Review: Karen Robards delivers in this book: plenty of romance, suspense, and laugh-out-loud moments. The chemisty between Matt and Carly sizzles, and the ambiguity Matt feels over his love (and lust) for Carly great fun to read. Robards is one of my favorite authors, and I eagerly devour each book she writes.

Summary: Great Story
Review: Karen Robards is an excellent contemporary romance writer. She is one of my favorites! This is another enjoyable read.

Carly Linton returns to her hometown to her grandmother's home. She is going to turn the home into a bed and breakfast hotel. She brings with her, her best friend and cook , Sandra. When Carly left town she was a flat chested girl with brown curly hair. Carly returns with breast implants, blond hair and an entirely new attitude.

When Carly and Sharon first arrive they think they have run into a burgler. They tackle the burgler and try to run away. After being tackled to the ground, Carly comes face to face with not a burgler, but Matt, the local sheriff. When Carly left town, she had a big crush on Matt, who at that time was the town's sexy bad boy. Carly is still pretty pissed off at Matt for taking her on one date to her prom; having sex with her and then forgetting about her. Matt on the other hand cannot believe how much Carly has changed, and the old sparks start to fly. Still, things are not quite what they seem. A murder has occurred in town, and somehow is connected to Carly. Carly and Matt will have to work together to find the killer, that is if Carly doesn't kill Matt first for dumping her all those years ago. This is a wonderful story. The characters kept me chuckling until the end. I would highly recommned.
