Summary: good fast paced read
Review: I am a big fan of Karen Robards but I felt like this book wasn't as good as her others. I felt like the relationship between Matt who is supposed to be 33 but is ver immature and Carly is very unbelievable. I couldn't understand why she was so in love with a guy who was a total jerk to her. I also thought that there were too many characters in this story with Matt's sisters and the deputies, and the victims, and the murder, and all the animals!! Jeez this book gave me a headache with all the different things that were going on. I think Karen Robards has written much better books like "To Trust a Stranger", "One Summer", and "Maggy's Child."

Summary: I would like to meet Matt
Review: I am a very big fan of Karen Robards, so I thought this book was really good. Matt seemed to have a 6th sense that Carly, "Curls", was in trouble, and things would be good. It would have been nice for Matt's deputy to start a relationship with Carly's friend. This would have added more romance to the story. I would get tickled when the dog would bark, and give the mystery man away. Thank goodness for animals. If you want a book with sex, romance, humor, and mystery, then give this one a try. I have read all of Karen Robards books and have not been disappointed.

Summary: WOW
Review: I am from Georgia and this book was right on about the south in the summertime! This was such a great book. This is the first book I've ever read that I couldn't put down, felt completely wrapped up in (and identified with the main character) and read that quickly. I have 2 hard copies that I'm letting a friend borrow 1 of them and giving the 2nd as a gift! It started off slow but kept you reading.Bravo!

Summary: THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE!!!!
Review: I am not going to get into the storyline of WHISPERS AT MIDNIGHT. It's already been said in many of the reviews here. I would rather let you know how this book made me feel. Wonderful! The dialogue between the Carly and Matt had me laughing aloud, as well as much of their silent thoughts about each other! And some of the situations were absolutely hysterical!!! This is the first book I've read by Robards that had so much humor in it. I was reading it during my son's orchestra rehearsal and tried my best not to guffaw in the auditorium ... so I sat silently reading with a foolish grin on my face! Not only did this book have great humor, but you really believed Carly and Matt had it bad for each other! There was sizzling sexual chemistry between them, hot sensual lovemaking scenes, and an evil twisted murderer who gave me the creeps, not to mention suspenseful scenes that had me on the edge of my seat! LOL ... and through it all, poor Matt was totally overwhelmed, outnumbered and surrounded by females ... 3 sisters, Carly and her friend Sandra all packed into his little house. Not to mention the adorable cat Hugo and dog Annie who also added to the smile/laugh factor. WHISPERS AT MIDNIGHT was a throughly enjoyable read!!! A definite keeper!!!

Summary: Excellent first book for me.
Review: I bought this book from my neighborhood store I actually picked it up twice before laid it back down. Several days later after reading several reviews I picked it up again and bought it and I'm so glad I did. An all around fun and enjoyable read for me. Carly Litton and Matt Converse excellent main characters, but what drew me in were her secondary characters Sandra and Matt's younger sister I enjoyed all of them. The animals were excellent and I'm so pleased that she took Marcia's little dog in. My only quibble was Donkey-Man I wish she could have explained his history a little more. I will not review the story you will have to read the book yourelf, but if you enjoy excitement, humor ,action and suspense read this book. I will be looking for more of her books.

Summary: Good story, bad writing
Review: I enjoyed this book but as other reviewers have commented, the writing is not up to her usual standards. The story, which is typical Karen Robards, is good and the character development great. Ocassionally I was horrified by her usage of trite phrases and slang. I'm not a literary high brow but this clearly was below even my standards. Even though it was an enjoyable read I will temporarily avoid Karen Robards writing for a while because of this book.

Summary: Good light fare
Review: I really enjoy mystery/suspense books. And I enjoy good romantic suspense. However, it is difficult to maintain a good balance between the romance and the suspense. This story hits its mark with the romance but just misses the suspense. Carly and Matt are both likeable charachters and perhaps opposites attract, but I find it hard to believe that Matt would be so enamored of someone who's always mad at him. Yet, once they get it together it works. The problem with this story is that plot takes a backseat to romance. I do like Karen Robard's previous romantic suspense better but this is good light reading. So, if you prefer romance over suspense this one is for you.

This story hits its mark with the romance and the suspense comes close as well. Carly and Matt are both likeable charachters and perhaps opposites attract, although I find it hard to believe that Matt would be so enamored of someone who's always mad at him. Yet, once they get it together it works. The problem with this story is that plot sometimes takes a backseat to romance but this is still good light reading. So, particularly if you prefer romance over suspense this one is for you.
