Summary: Stargirl-an inspiration for us freaks
Review: Jerry Spinelli's works are generally typical in the strangeness department, and Stargirl is no exception. This is the story of a girl who opened the eyes of a closed-minded high school, who showed a bunch of kids that being odd is not necessarily a bad thing, who touched the life of a particularly shallow boy and gave him a different way of life. Stargirl is full of humor, heartfelt sadness, and good ideas. After reading this book, I was liberated. I gave it to my friend to read, and the next day she returned it while wearing red overall shorts, pigtails with red ribbons, and a considerable amount of blush. A very deep and moving book. BOTTOM LINE: Stargirl sets the standards for avant garde, then surpasses them. Great for weird people and freaks.

Summary: The Most Amazing Book
Review: This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I'm sure if you like to read about High School you will love this book too. This book is about a girl named Susan. She didn't like the name Susan so she changes it to Stargirl instead. Stargirl was home schooled until now. She has no clue what it's like to go to a public school. When she starts to go to school she is so kind to every one. She brings in a ukelle and sings happy birthday to every one that's having a birthday.

Summary: Hoorah for Spinelli and Stargirl
Review: Stargirl was a book that I couldn't put down. Stargirl is about individuality, peer pressure, love, cruelty, disappointment and loss. It is thoughtful and mystical. Spinelli spins a wonderful yarn through the eyes of Leo Burlock. The story is about the stange new girl, Stargirl Caraway. Stargirl dresses different, she acts different, she is different than anyone the students at Mica High have ever encountered, and they clamor to her for awhile. Then things change because Stargirl won't. Despite pressures from Mica High students and Leo, Stargirl must be who she is. She is comfortable with that even if those around her are not. Leo must make a choice, does he value acceptance from his peers or Stargirl's affection more? What will he choose? How will he choose? Why must he choose? Leo is faced with all of these questions and more.

Stargirl is masterfully written. The characters are alive and you can almost see and smell the desert. You will find that you are drawn into this book and that you will want to read it a second time if only to savor the story once again. Spinelli has crafted a splendid book that is worth your consideration.

Summary: The stargirl
Review: I lokked at this cover at this book and thought that it was going to be a kiddy novel. I started to read it and i got drawn into the life of the stargirl, the girl who held her head up high and di whatever she wanted. All the kids thought she was weird, but she wasn't she was a true human, she wasn't one who wore name brands to try to cover up herself. read this book its very good, and you won't forget about stargirl.

Summary: fantastic book
Review: Being a high school student myself this books captures everything perfect. Stargirl herself was a person who didn't care what people thought of her and wasn't afraid to show her individuality. She was also the kindess and gentless person that I have ever heard of. Most highschools dont have these people, but I think it would be a benefit if we did. Leo(the narrator) likes her and they soon begin to date but he cannot stand the way people treat him now that stargirl is a loser. He tries to change her but sees that stargirl cant be changed. This book is one to read over and over and i promise it will stay on ur mind for a long while after.

Summary: Wow!! A CLASSIC!!
Review: Wow!! This story is one of the best I've ever read. Jerry Spinelli's books should not be limited to young adult/children's. Stargirl, like others, is a wonderful story for ages far above teens. Spinelli is a master at drawing you into a story with vivid, real, and impressive characters. Then he proceeds to develop them through fascinating interrelationships with other characters, real dialogue, and masterfully magnifying them with his settings. The rich details of Arizona that Spinelli describes help to magnify Stargirl and Starboy. From a saguaro to a moa, these details are not there by accident. Anyone who wants to learn the craft of writing from a master ought to pick Spinelli. Stargirl is perfect and wonderful and inspiring and thought-provoking and will get inside of your heart and grow. I plan to reread it again and again. Buy it for a friend today!!

Summary: the worst YA book I have ever read
Review: I cannot believe this book is as successful as it is. The writing is lazy, everything is told and not shown, and the characters read with an adult's sensibility. The voice is completely precocious and phony. It's a great idea for a book - and Stargirl is a great character - but there is absolutely no depth to the writing or any character besides Stargirl. I wish I could get my money back. For a good YA book, try The Perks of Being a Wallflower, or Dangerous Angels.

Summary: Wonderful lesson, wonderful story!
Review: Spinelli manages to spin important lessons into a fascinating tale about popularity and what it means to be true to yourself. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. In those two hours, I laughed, cried, and wondered. After reading it, I really started looking at the world around me and am trying to get in touch with my Stargirl. This is a must-read for everyone. It'll make you think, but is a lot of fun to read as well.

Summary: A Great Book!
Review: I thought that this book was wonderful. It is about Stargirl Caraway, a girl who sings happy birthday to strangers as she strums her ukelele, a girl who brings her pet rat to school, and a girl who is herself. At first, the students at Mica love Stargirl's unique ways, but after she cheers for the opposing basketball team and helps one of their players, she is shunned by all. That is when she and Leo begin their friendship. They go out into the desert simply to watch, leave coins on the street, just for children to pick up, and they are kind to everyone, they are themselves. But when Leo is teased as "Starboy", he makes Stargirl change her ways, so she becomes Susan Caraway, a girl like anyone else, Leo likes her, but wonders if she will ever be herself again. I loved this book because it gives the message to always be true to yourself, no matter what other people think of you.
