Summary: an amazing book!
Review: The book takes place in Mica High School, where there are strict social barriers. The main character is Leo Borlock, and he, like everyone else, doesn't give much thought to this. Then Stargirl arrives in a burst of color and sound, and capture's the school's heart. At first, everyone loves her spunk and personality, but then they start noticing her differences and start backing away. No one knows what group she belongs with or how they should "classify" her. Leo, however, is still enchanted by her and doesn't know whether he should turn back on her or his school.
This book may sound like another typical teen book, but it's not. It sheds light on how and why we look at people in certain ways, and it has a sad, but powerful ending. It was a quick read, but it stayed with me for a long time afterwards. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun, humorous, yet still thought provoking book.

Summary: Stargirl
Review: Stargirl is a book that is about a ninth grade girl named Stargirl. She is diffrent, and at lunch she sings happy birthday songs to kids. She is shy and ahe is always kind to other kids. She had homeschooled most of her life and then she was in a Mica High School. I would recomend this book to pre-teens and teenagers. You will not want to stop reading it! its that good! Hope this review was helpful!

Summary: Here's what I think
Review: "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli was a very typical book. If I were to rate it on a scale from one to ten, I would have to give it a five for effort. While the moral of this story is a good one, I think that it is over used. Yes, unconditional love and acceptance are important, but this moral is played out in too many plots in books today. I also felt that Stargirl's character was a bit extreme. Her character did not seem realistic to me. She is overly individualistic, and in comparison to the people in the world today, I had a hard time taking her seriously.
I felt like the characters were rapidly developed and more time could have been spent developing their personalities. I don't know that I would reccomend this book to a friend for any special reason. The book is not exactly unique in any particular way. The story is cute, but I think that this author would have much better success with a story line that is not so cliche.

Summary: Cool
Review: I think Star Girl was the best book in the world. The way she spoke her mind and sang happy birthday to whoever had a birthday. And she wasn't getting bent out of shape when somebidy got mad at her. It was great. They shouldn't have gotten mad cheering for the other football team.

Summary: I loved this book so much, I couldn't put it down!
Review: This book was my life for about 2 weeks. I spent all my time reading and reading it day after day, night after night. I really didn't sleep that much those 2 weeks and when I did it was about the book. At one point in the book it made me cry, laugh, happy, mad, and confused. It was so good. It wasn't really the book it was the characters. I mean the way he set them up, it was so invigurating! I personally loved it and now I have to go buy it so I can read it again and again.

Summary: What a different girl!
Review: Jerry Spinellis' Stargirl is a unique book. Stargirl, the main character, is so different, but the students at Mica High are all the same. Leo Borlock is captivated by her and starts to fall in love with her. She gives new color to the school with her clothes, her kindness, and her rat, Cinnamon. She shared her school spirit by cheering for the other team and for her own. She has been nothing but kind to everyone. She is herself and nothing can change that. The students grow to love and care for her. They started to come out of their shells and started to be themselves. They are all enchanted by her, at first.
Her differences made people like her, but hate her. Love was to come her way if she was willing to change. But love was the one thing that would destroy her. For her first love, would she be willing to change?

I would recommend this book to anyone who is in high school, who needs to take a look at themselves.

Summary: Stargirl the individual.
Review: I am reading a book called Stargirl. The book is written by Jerry Spinelli. My book is about a girl who comes to high school from a life of being home schooled. She is very different to a normal eye. She is way out there. She wears loud clothing, carries a pet rat where ever she goes, and decorates her desk in class with a table cloth and flowers in a vase. She sits with herself at lunch and plays the ukelele for everyone to hear; especially on peoples birthdays. She says hello to everyone who passes her and smiles.
She is always up and happy.
Anyways she gets caught up in the mix and becomes real popular. People start to like her style and copy it. Something happens and everyone turns on her. So she tries her best to get their attention again by not really being herself. Well that didn't go to well.
I learned from this book a lot about individuality. I know now that its important, without the individuality in each of us, we wouldn't be that different. To me its another war in life we each fight. We fight for our rights to be individuals.

Summary: starwoman (an adult reader)
Review: A 6th grader recommended this book to me. I read it, and the next time I saw her we had a great conversation about it. Stargirl is a wonderful character who has all the flavor of childhood memory, the memory of first love, of comforting rain and the feeling of waking up. A character like this is both unreal and hyper- real. The lack of awareness that Stargirl shows towards her bullies is unreal; she doesn't protect herself at all. But the real message that you should do what you feel is right for your soul, regardless of the consequences is unsentimentally conveyed.
