Summary: *Boring*
Review: I thought this book was very boring. The beging didn't catch me, but I kept with to see if it would inmprove. No luck!

Summary: Good book
Review: This book was good, but kind of corny. I loved how Stargirl was so outgoing and caring, but there are so few people actually like that, that it is almost depressing.I would still recommend it because it is a feel-good book that I enjoyed.

Summary: To Conform or not to Conform, that is the Question
Review: In Spinelli's blunt satire, we meet a home-schooled girl "gone public", but hasn't a clue to the teen scene. With an open heart, and an open mind, she tries to fit in, and finds her "place" with the protagonist.
We journey along with these characters, and we,as readers, grapple with our own "individuality vs. conformity" issues. How much should we "give up" in order to "fit in" ?

Summary: This book just makes ya feel good!
Review: This is a great book. Sure it's on a 6th grade reading level but the message behind the words is for everyone (i'm 15). It encourages you to accept people as they are. At the end of the book, you just wanna go out and help someone or give someone a hug. I love this book!

Summary: Stargirl
Review: A mysterious girl shows up at Leo's school and isn' like other girls. She doesn't wear make-up, carries around a ukele and a canvas bag that she keeps her pet rat in. She sings "happy birthday" to everyone. She gives cards to people. She hands out candy on holidays.
She has so much to give, but Leo finds her so strange. Leo finds out she likes him, and he starts to like her back. He finds out all sorts of really strange stuff about her, but he still wants her to be popular and dress like everyone else. She tries to be like everyone else, but Leo finds out that she is incredibly unhappy that way.
This is a really awesome book that helps people to realize the importance of giving to other people instead of becoming overly-obsessed with yourself and self-obsorbed. It helps people realize things that are deeper than what most kids realize. It teaches you incredible skills that can help you to be happy and confident in your life.

Summary: Long Live Star Girl!
Review: When Star Girl moves to Mica, a small city in Arizona, everyone is bewildered by her! She is a very unique teenager. She carries a ukelele to lunch and sings happy birthday to her peers, carries a pet mouse named Cinnamon on her shoulder, and she wears clothing much different than any teenager in Mica would wear.
Soon, she meets Leo, and she becomes his girlfriend. Leo wants Star Girl to be "normal", and wear the same kinds of clothes as other girls, and do the same kinds of activities as other girls. However, that is not who Star Girl really is. Star Girl likes to do things for other people, sometimes people she doesn't even know! Star Girl is one of a kind.
I would recommend this book to any person who is tired of seeing all of their peers "follow the crowd". I also think that people who are "followers" would benefit from reading this book. There are so many other things in the world to think about other than what you or your peers are doing, and reading this novel makes you think about what else you can do for someone or something else. This book really broadens your horizons as a person, and I recommend it for any middle school student.

Summary: I wish upon a star...
Review: Stargirl is the kind of girl you really wish you could be if you stopped caring what people thought and started living for yourself. I wish I was stargirl and that somehow we all are a person who can change thier name to match thier mood and pass out groundhog day cards to thier class, and cheer for the other team at b-ball games.

Summary: A great book
Review: Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli is wonderful. It really makes you want to go out and be friends with the girl nobody likes because she is different. Stargirl is an excellent book that stays glued to your hands until you finish it. Even when you finish it, you just think, "Wow, that was great! I need to read this book again!" Sort of like your favorite movie...you can watch it a thousand times and never get bored of it!

Summary: WOW!
Review: When I first picked up this book, i was expecting nothing of what I got from it. I just bought it because I liked the cover, but that's somewhat what the book is actually about. Stargirl Caraway is galaxies away from what anyone in conventional Mica Area HIgh School considers normal, where different is bad. She wears weird clothes, serenades people with "Happy Birthday" with her ukelele and does random nice things for people. Not so bad, right? Right, well for a while. She becomes a cheerleader and soon the most popular girl in school, but when she cheers when the other team makes baskets, they call her unloyal and kick her out of the squad. They blame her for ruining the team's perfect season. Then they totally brutalize her on the school's TV show HOT SEAT.

But there's one person who does see the real Stargirl Caraway. Leo is a conservative junior who just wants to pretty much get through school. He is producer(director?) of the Hot Seat and he collects porcupine ties. But Stargirl has a crush on him and soon they are going out. For a while he thinks that it's ok, but then they give her the silent treatment and as long as he's with her, he's ignored, too. That bugs him for a while. So much that he has to make a painful decision. One he may regret.

I totally recommend this book for the soul. It's so, unreal, it's almost real. There's just something about it that just gives you this certain feeling, I don't know what. All I know is read it!
